thats a sign of like competition of the ego. I don't know I'd say they were planted there by God for the contrast.

if you know someone is lying to you, it could be sometimes they do not know themselves it is a lie, or sometimes they are testing you to see if they can get you to believe it is true...then if they can make u believe, they get some kind of thrill that they have this power.

these are not your true friends, so in a sense you learn who you are by who you are not.

But I don't think God said, go see George, I think God may have said to the liars, go see George so that George will tell you the truth.
