Slight little meditation/exploration problem
Sep 5th, 2006 at 12:59am

Let me give you a little background.  I had very bad anxiety about 4 years ago so I looked into meditation.  I found Bruce's sight, bought the VHS tapes and thru quiet meditation, not even exploration, I was able to elimiate anxiety.  This has even turned me to going for my masters degree in mental health counseling.

So here's my problem.  I bought a hemi sync meditation CD to help me explore easier because I haven't had a ton of luck doing it on my own.

What happens is this. I start to feel a little weird, I see into blackness, a lot of random images come to me...then I come to minutes later.  I clicked out for a full 17 minutes today and I don't remember what even happened.  I did NOT fall asleep.  I know the difference LOL

Anyway advice?  I would love to do afterlife explorations

Hi djdrista,

It's not unusual for me to "click out" occasionally and not remember where I was, just as you did. And it is truly "clicking out" -- it is a blank space. I think I just get a little too relaxed to stay conscious, and I will almost always come back into awareness sometime during the meditation, sometimes right before the end for the last minute or so of the music. It's funny how that works, and I will always be slightly surprised and wonder why I "woke up" at that particular moment. What I mean is, why would I wake up then instead of waking up, say, right after the music ends...I always assume that the music is designed to bring you back into a more fully waking consciousness at a certain point, and that it works!

I think when the random images come, with practice, you will be able to remain aware and pay attention to them. They can lead you into some interesting experiences if you allow it, and you can always ask for assistance.

It helps, I think, to set an intention beforehand, but to be open to whatever experience which might occur for you.  If your body truly needs rest it will take the opportunity, so that is nothing to worry about.  Who knows, perhaps your mind is absorbing something important in another way during that time? But, in general, I think the trick is to remain relaxed, allowing the images to come up as they will, and remember to feel love from your heart if you are in any discomfort.

Hi djdrista,
during and a few weeks after I was at the TMI Gateway Voyage, I frequently went into a state where I received a huge mass of pictures, visual scenes, which came and went away such fast that I couldn't control it. That was mostly when I went to bed for sleep, and lasted from about 5 minutes to maybe 30 minutes. But after a few weeks, this state didn't occur no more, only shortly somtimes when in meditation. I still listen to HemiSync. I guess it is a sort of effect which goes along with the HemiSync recordings when you listen to them the first times, there is an adjustment process which lasts a little while and then it calms down.

I almost never click out, the only time I remember, I listened to HemiSync "Surf" and suddenly I noticed a kind of "click", at first I thought it was the cd player, but all was ok, no clicks when I played it again, and it felt more like a break, I simply had a gap in time while listening to it, I remember absolutely nothing, just this clicking back into awareness.
After a year or so regularly meditation (laying on my bed) I never fall asleep if I don't want to. It's more that I must focus to fall asleep rather than to focus to stay awake.

Spooky

That makes so much sense because I have heard a click...almost a crackle and that's what wakes me up..at least I THINK..hard to remember
