Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money.
Hi Charley,
here you've provided a brilliant encapsulation of everything wrong with established religions. Good stuff!
They're still peddling the 'do as we say or else' stuff.
Un/fortunately (depending on your point of view) an increasing number of folks are rejecting this ELS BS (belief system, not the other acronym) which is why fundamentalists of any religious persuasion can bleat as much as they like about obeisance or retribution or one particular religion ruling the world, but it will never happen.
I state this because just maybe some of your predator world views could have their origins in a 'kill the unbelievers' mental stance. Or I may be wrong (naturally!)
But you say that right and wrong exist only in the mind of the observer. Not necessarily. Your mention of the old git of religions watching every move we make, and matching it against the ten things we shouldn't do is only the beginning. Actually the old testament is full of the most insane instructions by today's standards, but that's something else again.
I'd like to suggest to you that at the end of your life it will be YOU that will judge yourself, and you'll realise that there are essential judgements that are above moralistic fashion. In other words, you will know what you did right and wrong in a purely spiritual sense when you review your life.
'you die because you're weak'?
No, you die for many reasons: it's in your life plan to experience something, or you simply die because you've had enough of this one and completed what you came here to do/experience.
This is not a sign of weakness.
'There is no punishment for killing the weakest'?
How do you know? Perhaps compassion is a purer form of strength than execution?
You may find that you punish yourself for this after your life review at the end of this incarnation.
Just some things to think over.
Best wishes,
David.
