George Carlin's take on afterlife topics
Jul 24th, 2008 at 7:37am

Greetings,

These quotes are from the late comedian/philosopher George Carlin (1937-2008).
Although they don't all relate directly to the afterlife, they touch on topics we've
previously discussed here.  Smiley

Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die,
your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.

If it's true that our species is alone in the universe,
then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather
low and settled for very little.

Just when I discovered the meaning of life,
they changed it.

Have you ever started a path?  No one seems willing to do this.
We don't mind using existing paths but we rarely start new ones.
Do it today. Start a path.  Even if it doesn't lead anywhere.

Wink  Bets

(However, these observations of his were all made before he got to the afterlife.)

George Carlin is FAN-Effin-Tastic on these topics.

Especially on 'ReLiGiOn'. Wink

He nails it in that one....

This is my first post on here.

Yes, George Carlin was the man.  He was my favorite comedian and mentor.  He will be missed.  His "Your God is always broke and needs money" is a classic.   Smiley  And he was into this stuff too having been on Coast to Coast and Art Bell.

In today's world of massive propaganda that we get from the media, corporations, government, politicians, Hollywood, TV, and of course the big one - religion - there are very few places to get truth.

This may sound crazy but comedians are truth tellers in this day and age.  Having written comedy and performed stand-up I know that most comedians look deep into their subject and analyze all angles.  They are real geniuses.

Yes, I'd rather listen to truth in a Comedy Club than asleep and drooling while sitting in a pew.

Welcome, Buddy Love!

And thanks for sharing in your first post here !

I agree that many comedians are the truth-sayers! They seem to operate from a deep compassion for lifers like us (humanity). Guess that's why they also make such great actors when they also try that.

I keep saying 'they', but apparently I should say 'you-all.'
Did you find this site because of the George Carlin comments?  Whatever, Welcome  Smiley  You may eveen find some good material here   Grin  even though the basic premises we take pretty serious. (I know they've changed my life.)

Hi Bets,

Thanks for the warm welcome.  No, I didn't find the site because of George but I was pleasantly surprised to see a topic about him.

I've only watched about ten minutes of a GC sketch, but it was very funny. I should check out some more on Youtube.
