Ok now that I have your attention, you're wondering what the heck do these two have in common?
Anyhow, just a brief background:
Godfrey was in the Navy during the 1920s, and one night while he was relaxing in his bunk, he suddenly looked up and saw a clear vision of his father. It was as if his dad was saying goodbye. He looked at his clock and noted the time.
Later, he received word of his father's death, and the time coincided with when he experienced his vision.
He said it gave him considerable comfort, knowing that his dad was still ok.
Now then, we have the sad case of Natalee Holloway. She disappeared in May of 05 during her class trip to Aruba. Chances are very good that she was killed and her body taken out to sea.
Her mom has been distraught for almost 3 years. She has made numerous trips to Aruba trying to find information about her daughter, to no avail.
She has gone from a reasonably vibrant person to a physically and emotionally broken down woman. It is painful to see her on tv. She no doubt will carry this sadness to her death and maybe an early death at that.
So.....the obvious question arises from these two examples and I'm sure there are countless millions more just like them. Why do some people (probably the vast minority) get vivid reassurance that their loved ones survive death, while most of the rest of us suffer, like Natalee's mom, never getting any kind of contact, however brief, from the deaths of our parents or children or spouses?
Why is the curtain between physical life and the afterlife so impenetrable in most cases, and yet so transparent in others?
We all have nagging questions we'd love to have answered, and I guess this is mine.
