You Shall Know the Truth, and the Truth Shall Make You Free
John 8:32

To the friends on the board

Since I wandered here for the first time I realized that this forum main rule is –The important thing is your own experiences- So as I’m not a medium nor have I had any OBE or something akin to it I come to the idea that my kind of knowledge wouldn’t be useful to you, but as you all here are wide opened minds I decide to type the words below.

I have noticed the questions that seem to be the major concerns to the ones who are looking for some knowledge here, and of course, you the “senior” ones by here have been incredibly useful answering underpinned by your experiences.

One thing that is my main concern once as a member of this forum is that there is a very serious study very well documented that probably is not being considered as a reliable  source of knowledge due to the fact that many people all around the world has adopted it as kind of a religion. But it’s not. It is a compilation of a more than twenty years study.

I’m talking about the research conducted by Mousier Hyppolyte Leon Denizard Rivail, along the second half of the nineteen century. It was at lion (France) that he was tempted to a deeper research about some facts that were the main focus of the high society at the time.

The central tenet of Kardecism is the belief in the spiritual life. The spirit is eternal, and evolves through a series of incarnations in the material world. The true life is the spiritual one; life in the material world is just a short-termed stage, where the spirit has the opportunity to practice and to experience everything he has learnt over his spiritual life. Reincarnation is the process where the spirit, once free in the spiritual world, comes back to the world.

Christ is deemed to be the spiritual guide of the entire planet, and he incarnated here to show us, through his example, the path that we have to take to achieve our own spiritual perfection. The Gospel is reinterpreted in Kardecism; some of the words of Christ or his actions are clarified, at the light of the spiritual phenomena, that is presented as law of nature, and not as something miraculous. It's only because of our own imperfection that we can't operate similar things; as we evolve, we will not only understand it better, but we will be able to do similar things, for all spirits are created equal, and are destinated for the same end.

According to this belief, we are destinated for perfection; it's only because of our own failures that we keep reincarnating in this same planet. There are other planets hosting more advanced life forms, and happier societies, where the spirit has the chance to keep evolving both on the moral and intellectual sense. It seems that we cannot detect more advanced life forms in other planets, as they are living in a slight different plane (a little shift at the vibe tone) from ours, in the same way the spiritual plane is superimposed over our own plane.

The communication between the spiritual world and the material world happens all the time, but at a varied level. Some people barely sense what the spirits tell them, in a instinctive way, while others have greater conscience of the fact. The so-called mediums have these natural abilities highly developed, being able to communicate with the spirits and interact with them by several means: listening, seeing, or writing through spiritual command (also know by kardecists as psychography). Direct manipulation of physical objects by spirits is also possible; however, for it to happen the spirits need the help (voluntary or not) of mediums with particular abilities for physical effects.

Some points of the Spiritist Doctrine:
- This is neither our first nor our last life.
- God is the primary cause of all things.
- God is supremely just and good.
- In each life we acquire more knowledge, until we achieve our own perfection.
- We keep our individuality before, during, and after this life.
- Mankind has free-will so as to act, but must respond for the consequences of its actions.
- We can communicate with other Spirits incarnated (living) or disencarnated (“dead”).
- The morality of Christ is the guide for all Humanity, but we respect all religions and use works of Buddha, Socrates, Muhammad, Zoroaster, etc as comparison and basis.

Thanks for your post, and the links provided...when I have some more time(as it's almost 2am where I'm sitting,I will check out the links shortly as the day gets more underway...Wink

I will come back and read the entire post again, too, but what I understand from what you wrote,it has that feeling to it of "recognition" for me..and I can see several things here that just ring true for me, and I think it's incredibly useful. It will be another source that I know I'll enjoy reading about, and I'm glad you decided to take the time to write it out.I too, believe in reincarnation, and many lifetimes...and also that there are other worlds, with different vibratiions from the beings in it,..etc...etc.and if I believe in other worlds, I definately believe that they are probably in different stages of evolution and experience, and learning.I'm one that feels I've been in earth lives for a long time...and I kind of chuckle to myself..b/c in my mind, at least with myself,I believe that would be so, b/c I'm probably a "slow learner", lol...or thick enough to have to do this so very many times until I grasp the things I have probably struggled with in several incarnations.... Embarrassed So I appreciate the info...b/c for a long time now...I keep thinking to myself, OK,Tanja, time to get real serious with this, and try consciously to grow as much as I can, instead of spinning my wheels, so to speak, and I really enjoy investigating Smiley

Hi Kardec

I have not heard of Kardecism before you mentioned it.  From what I have read the research does sound truthful.  Contacting spirits in a two-way communication is very real. Training to become a sincere channel for this communication should be concentrated upon along with all the experiences expressed in this board. This leans towards a greater understanding of our universe.

Kardecism sounds very similar to Steiner’s Anthroposophy wherein he too researched and explored communication with disincarnated spirits.  That is a good sentence you said : “the spiritual plane superimposed over our own plane”.  The spiritual plane; how many dimensions can one penetrate here – being the quest.

Thanks Kardec; I will be reading more of Kardecism.  The 19th century was a phenomenal period of genius’s manifested onto earth.

I include a rough diagram Steiner drew that compliments ‘superimposed’.

My regards
Caryn

Hello all,

If you're interested you can pick up Spiritist books written by Allan Kardec from your local bookstore.  As Kardec says, it is not a religion.  Brazilians like to say it is a belief.  You can also download english versions of the books online (most were originally written in Portuguese I believe).  Just type in "Spiritist books."  Very good reading, but some of it is written in old english so do not be surprised.  The belief has been around for a very long time.
Nice to see you're still here Karmakiss!

Take care,

David

David

You seem to have some information regarding Kardecism. I rarely have met people outside Brazil who had even a little knowledge about this doctrine. Despite that several millions join it here in Brazil. You are right, spiritist books can be found all over the world at normal bookstores, not only Kardec ones, but I believe that a few ones written by “Chico Xavier” the Brazilian most famous medium may have been translated too.

Originally Kardec’s books were written in French and then translated to several other languages. As long as time passed many countries interest on those books has decreased and the Portuguese written ones are the basis for most of the translations available today.

Here is website with some of them for free:

Thanks Kardec-
Actually, my background is Vedanta, by way of Tantric Buddhism and a few years as a hippie. However, Kardec's message appears to me to be accurate and useful. My impression is that there are a great many sources that offer the same ideas, but that we are generally tuned in mostly to the ones that resonate best with our specific personalities.

Kardec's Spiritism seems like the closest generic approach to the numerous indigenous beliefs in the Amazon Basin - and the use of shamanic materials recalls my hippie days. My experiences with American Spiritualist Churches are a close parallel, except that each church tends to either be an endorser or objector to Dogmatic Christianity (the kind the replaces thinking with faith in the Word as brought by the Leader).

Your home is literally surrounded by spiritual influences, all of which lead to the same outcome, although by somewhat differing routes. I'm most impressed by the participant approach, where celebrants actually request the spirits to attach to them. Unfortunately, not all let go and return home later. I recall a woman who had practiced Santeria in previous years, and who unloaded over a dozen entities in less than a half hour. She said that afterwards she felt "lighter".

Anyway, Kardec, your posts always interest me, and the links are most welcome.

Hi David

Good to hear of you!

One more important clarification about Kardecism, They join to their meetings in organized groups called Spiritist Houses. There are many activities there like, courses and their main goal is to help for free the ones who need it.

The course who teaches how to develop the “mediumship” takes 5 years, once finished the students can start their participation at the meetings were spirits who are lost or confuse about their situation are oriented and helped. And there are several other works that meant to help people to understand their spiritual truth.

Some times when there is a strong attachment between a person and a disturbed spirit they booth receive orientation through different types of works, because there are works focused in helping the ones who are in the spiritual side and some other focused in helping people in the material experiences.

About the channeling process…. After five years of “training” and due to the spiritual guides who operate together with the mediums, usually “ let the spirits go home” after a work session is not a problem.

Big hug David and all the friends.
