George, From what I have experienced, I believe the answers are "yes" and "yes," with an exception.  If one's belief system denies that there is an afterlife - one may be prone to "getting stuck."  I could envision some people not realizing they have passed on.  Bruce and those who do retrievals probably have many stories that would be pertinent to this discussion.

I wish that we could be with our loved ones in consciousness as an observer as they pass over, to exchange love and thought,  but it is just not how things are set up.  Some of us may get enough experience focusing thought to do this, but it is a rare ability.

I am one of those people who does retrievals in their sleep. A lot of people do but don't realize it. They are always in my apartment waiting beforehand. I am aware of it and I usually talk to them before I go to sleep after communicating with guidance about them.
Most don't realize they're dead. Actually, they're not dead they just don't have a body anymore, but anyway, most don't realize it. Most passed at least a year prior, sometimes four or five year before they're with me. This is because people have varying degrees of lucidity than others, esp. their perception of physical reality. Problem also is, their perception of spiritual reality isn't too great, either. They are kinda in-between. I know this because most have been passed on for at least a year and don't realize it, yet they can't perceive their guides, either. With the majority who aren't aware of their passing, I'm the first one to tell them the news. Only one has reacted poorly by taking off and not coming back. A few have been very sad and I've had to talk to them some more, but most are ok with it. When I say 'ok' I don't mean happy; I mean not freaking out. I have not ever gotten one that was happy to have passed. Maybe relieved, but never happy. Usually anxious because of belief system indoctrination or simply not knowing what happens next.

I think also their sense of time is different. I get that their perception is that much less time has passed than what we perceive.

Some know. A very few know and know why they are with me without me having to tell them anything, which is surprising.

Now my retrievals are not representative of all who've passed because they are with me for a reason, that is, they need to be taken to F27 or a BST. That means they didn't go on their own, which is says something about them and their awarenss and attachmenat to and focus on physical reality.

I've run into others where I've lived and been who know full well they've passed, they just don't want to leave.

The short answer is it depends on the person. Usually those who come to me after a long illness know they've passed. Children almost always know. I even get children WITH their parents and it's the child who is trying to convince the parents who don't believe, or one spouse knows and the other doesn't believe.

What's also interesting is that they ALWAYS believe me. That I can't figure out because I'm usually, but not always, a stranger to them. But two questions I used to always ask their guides is "Did they understnad everything I said?" and "Do they believe me?" The answers were ALWAYS yes so I quit asking.

From what I've read, they almost always are there for their funeral, but don't usually care about the body. It's more about concern for grieving loved ones and so on.

Love,
Rob

Yes Rob I have encountered similar people, one time I saw a funeral, then I became aware a guy was besides me, and we watched it together. I got a quick information, or I somehow guessed what had happened, we talked, and it turned out, like I guessed, it was his funeral (well, of his body), and he was aware of that. Nevertheless, he was stuck. He over and over again watched this scene (don't know if it was his remembrance movie or if he actually got back to the same physical point of time). He was in a loop. He was thinking pretty much about it, but couldn't make it to a sort of decision to stop this watching. He pondered that maybe it was possible to reanimate his body, and therefore he didn't want to leave. I just told him about the situation, and the fact that he became more aware that he had repeated this for quite a long time convinced him that it wouldn't be bad to have a look at a nice place, with the option that he could return whenever he wanted to, as I assured him. He left with me then his mind-loop.
So, at one hand he knew that he had physically died, on the other hand he needed one who make him only a bit more aware of what he's doing, and that he was doing it for a long time (but not realized it), he needed only someone from "outside" who gives him a little push, like in the physical it's also easy to wake someone up who is asleep, but also with much change for the one who awakes. (It wasn't that easy as I told it, he was a quite intelligent thoughtful guy and it took me much effort to take care not to say something that would make him turn away from me.)

George,

As Doc M says, above, I also believe the answer to each question is "Yes".

At my wife`s funeral some three years ago there was a changing of places in the front pew of the crematorium between my son and I. My son prompted the change to be made. It finished with me sat at the end of the pew with a space on my right hand side. At the time I thought nothing about the significance of this.

Some months later, as I was getting into the Afterlife having found this superb site, I visited a medium. It was she who raised the issue with me of the changing of places at my wife`s funeral. In fact she told me that my wife`s spirit orchestrated that and that she was sat next to me as spirit during her own funeral, occupying that space.

____

I can vouch the above statement is true to my experience also. was wondering Rob if you are, or consider yourself to be a portal to the other world?
and if you are visited daily or what the frequency is? I think you are very kind to converse with these. I can imagine that to be earthbound is not the happiest of circumstances. I can imagine that finding you, for them, is a happy circumstance, that one who could, would speak with them. good work. love, alysia

Hey Roger and everyone else.

I've been posting briefly off and on for 2 years. I'm under a new screenname. My name is Ryan and I'm 24. Im going to cut right to the chase. Your post spoke to me in a weird way. For the past five years Ive questioned whether or not I could be dead. I've always turned a blind eye to the signs and messages that have lead to a answer that is not that happy. Am I dead?

yes George they usually try first off to contact the living, mostly relatives. but it does not follow that they know they are dead. I mean have died to the body. the way I have perceived this to happen if they contact a relative who is sensitive to their presense then they can realize they must have transitioned. when I had an NDE I was trying to contact the living; I was ignored and not seen but I just thought that I was not important to these others and they were ignoring me. yet when I went to see my daughter she was the one who told me I was dead because we had a love bond and she could perceive my presence like the others could not.
it is like when your wife came to you and you could perceive she was really there. it was because of the love bond you have.

Hi Ryan. this question comes up once in awhile. in a sense the spirit world thinks we are the dead ones here while they are more alive than us!  but that doesn't answer your question. you can look at it philosophically. from the moment of birth we begin to  die. cells die everyday as they die they are replaced by new cells and that is what is known as life. so whether you are dead or alive, then we share your world the same. welcome back. I notice you can use the internet and find yourself here. thats a very good sign that 1) both of us are alive or 2) both of us are dead and just dreaming we are alive. Smiley   but you are right...its a very good thing to know if you are dead or alive. love, alysia

Hi Ryan,

What signs and messages do you mean?  That sounds intriguing.

I've decided I enjoy my life a lot.  So even if this is all a dream, illusion, or whatever, I'm glad I get to have it.  There's a lot of people in this world I love very much.  It's nice to finally be that happy.  I wasn't always.

Alysia,

I'm not sure what you mean by portal. I get them every day, without fail, except when I go away for two weeks for my National Guard training each year. It's not up to me. Their guides bring them or they have an energetic attraction to me. Usually it's their guides. I've actually only known a couple of them. One guy, I had a conversation with twenty years ago, and he remembered me, and there he was.

The conversation is usually one way. After I get the basics of the person from their guide, I give them a speel, a short one which tells them they've gone through a change, everything's going to be great, who I am, ect.  The long speel, rarely given, tells them everything, focus 27 and all that. I have difficulty hearing them, so I'm the one who usually does the talking. Although I had one cantankerous old man tell me I should quit my tobacco habit, ect. One woman, who was ill for a long time, told me that it's been a long time since she's seen a man with his shirt off, I look good, like, ohmygod I'm being flirted with by a dead woman. She can't possibly have a sex drive anymore, perhaps it's the memory of a sex drive or she's nervous or she's manipulative out of habit. Anyway, such communication is rare.

Most aren't actually happy to see me. They usually are nervous, not usually knowing who I am or why they're with me. And most don't know they've passed.

Thanks.
Love,
Rob

thanks Rob, that was a great description of making contact and very similar to what I do or have done when making contact with the other side, as I have trouble getting sentence structure from them also..comes in as a rote.

when I mentioned the portal I was recalling Bruce's story of the natural sensitive who found many spirits in her dwelling and started freaking a bit what to do. I suppose it might be hard to concentrate on one's own life if everytime u turned around a spirit was inquiring or looking at you and wondering why you could sense them when nobody else could. she called upon Bruce for help and he taught her to send them to the light through a portal that she would point, that he was able to ask her to image or create, point to when these spirits came to her. like you, they were attracted to her capacity to be aware of them (retriever in the making) and they were looking for the direction she could provide. so I thought of her being this natural portal for the light and I thought of everything that is was returning to the light minus dark thoughts ..then I think of spirits as energy constructs with individuality and the resonation factor that she was "open" to receive this energy and pass it through her mind, the portal. maybe she was a portal because of deep seated beliefs, a knowing we all continue on in spirit life and these others needed to be awakened to this truth so they could move on. humans get so immersed in physical life, maybe its an addictive thing like Monroe said, we just get into a loop with it and forget where the starting point was my pov. but I see you don't point to a portal, but same thing to me, you explain the focus 27 which allows them to grasp the same principle. so u are like a portal, or the wayshower even if u would like to be humble about it, I can see you care or why else do it? I think deep down we all care about each other but judgments and false beliefs get in the way of showing we care. I think you are doing great work spiritually.

I enjoy your posts even if I might get you wrong I don't think I'm that far off.
lol....the lady who likes your chest. probably embarrassed you...she may have been the flirty type. thats interesting she could see your chest...some of us don't even realize we flirt. here you were trying to tell her something important and she starts discussing your great chest...lol....thats funny...but maybe to her she just wanted to give you a compliment you couldn't accept as she's dead..but to her she may feel perfectly physical. u may have helped to wake her up that she's on the other side and she can find others like herself. lol..I hope she's not the one who goes into the bathroom with you Grin  if so she needs to be retrieved again. Alysia, she's long gone, but then I can look her up when I pass over. It just occured to me that I could set myself up for endless dates on the other side when I pass over! I think my twin soul might have some thing to say about that..anyway, I appreciate you reading my posts. You are one of the wisest people on this board and I pay attention to what you write.
