Going by what I've experienced with dreams, I believe that you are correct to have faith in your husband's dream.

Regarding which books I recommend, I don't know of any where I believe everything the book has to say. But that may be due to my incomplete understanding.

I suggest that you stay away from books that are overly dogmatic, claim to be the only way, and try to scare you in some way.

I had read a book called :  "Hello from Heaven!"  written by Bill Guggenheim and Judith Guggenheim. I really enjoyed this book and it was a good intro to ACD's. They have a website with a message board for people who have had experiences such as yourself aswell: www.after-death.com

This is a comforting book filled with short stories on ADC's, they offer powerful emotional and spiritual healing, especially for those who are grieving or afraid of death.

I'm a big fan of the older books from spiritualism's heyday. Arthur Findlay's "On the Edge of the Etheric" is the classic of all survival books. It's based on the knowledge he accumulated over a number of years by direct voice spirit contact through trumpet medium John Sloan. A scientific explanation of survival in terms of the various states of vibration of the subatomic  ether. Just as good is Edward C. Randall's "The Dead Have Never Died" from his 22 years experiences with independent direct voice medium Emily French. The universe of ether explained from a spirit viewpoint. Randall spoke with 1000's of "the dead". Nearly everyone he ever knew that died came through at one time or another.

Also there is another source of an immense wealth of afterlife knowledge, the "Rending the Vail" series. 1700+ pages in four books written primarily by materialized spirits themselves from 1899 to 1902 through materialization medium William W. Aber.  In the last years some of the spirits would actually materialize and type their stories and death experiences on an early Remington typewriter.
