Hi all,

I recently had my first unintentional and sort of extreme interaction with a spirit and it has raised a lot of questions for me.  I should also mention that I’ve been able to sense the presence of spirits in the past but have been uninterested/unsure/afraid of how to communicate with them.

A few weeks ago I was at a friend’s house for lunch with my aunt – the friend happens to be a medium.  We were eating lunch talking about different diets when I started to feel that there was someone behind me and I could smell (quite strongly) fresh gardenia flowers but there were no flowers in the room.  After about 20 minutes I said something about it and my friend confirmed that she could also sense the spirit of a woman behind me.  My friend encouraged me to stay calm and to talk to this spirit to find out why she was there.  (in the past, at this point I would have told the spirit to go away and they usually do)

Long story short this ended up being one of the most intense and weird encounters I have ever had with a spirit.  By staying calm and asking the questions my friend suggested I ask, all sorts of information and images just started popping into my head.  The spirit, Charlotte said that we had known each other in a previous lifetime, and her presence brought on intense feelings of happiness, love and regret. 

When I got home the whole experience seemed really strange to me, and quite frankly, unbelievable.  I started doing some research and found a census record that showed a woman with the exact same name, last name, age, city, state, and time frame as the spirit who I had been interacting with.  After this experience, something or someone non-physical essentially lead me to a copy of the Afterlife Knowledge Guidebook and I’ve been doing the exercises in the book.  Since then Charlotte has come to me a few times and it’s been brining up fuzzy but emotionally powerful memories that are not from this lifetime.  Overall I simply like having her around but I still feel like there is an important reason she has come to me.

So I have a couple of questions for those of you with more experience in this realm.  My sense of spirits seems to happen totally randomly (three weeks ago I was driving along and a male spirit just sort of wandered into the back seat of my car and then wandered out) – is there anyway I can control who comes to me and when?  Is there anyway I can strengthen my sense of them?  I’d like to figure out how to get a quicker read of who they are and why they are near me.  I’d also like to learn how to communicate better with them (and how to stay calm!)
