They never say what it's like...
Apr 15th, 2006 at 8:25pm

...over there.  i've been going to spiritualist church for around a year now.  i've received many messages, which have made a great impression on me..but never, not even my mother (and she could talk!) has ever said anything about what it's like over there, other than they say they feel better.

has anyone received a message in spiritualist church, describing the afterworld?

Not in a spiritulist church per se, but I'm a spiritualist minister and I've heard lots of descriptions while doing past life work. The one thing that stands out to me is that everybody describes it differently.

Thank you, your messages were very beautiful.  I'm still interested in a 'heaven-feedback' specifically during a spiritualist church service, when the medium gives messages to members of the congregation - as i said, not one of the many messages i've heard, has made any reference to a description of the afterworld.  i would hope someone out there has heard one

Well, I've left it for a week, so I guess nobody has.
Ken, the ministers husband at my church, thinks that they are forbidden to tell.

Hey SoulMerlin,

There was once an experience that I had which I know not to be a dream, and the only way I can describe it is as an extremely brief glimpse into some sort of heavenly realm... This actually happened to me on two separate occasions. The first was when I was lying on my bed under a tremendous amount of stress. I wasn't attempting to fall asleep, I was just exhausted and lying there. After about 20 min. of lying there with my eyes closed, my consciousness became fully aware, (beyond even the waking state), and I instantaneously found myself in what appeared to be a garden... This "garden" was nothing like a garden you may find on earth, but that's as close of a word as I can find. From the brief moment that I was there, I was in a peace beyond description. I could've stayed in that state for all of eternity, and not have had a care or want in the world... (If that can come even close to describing it.) I was aware of some sort of "gate" to this garden that was enveloped with flowers, the color of which I have never seen before on this planet. The intensity and clarity of colors in that "experience" was simply unparalled to anything in this world. The light source seemed to emenate from the very fiber of everything that was there. -- A translucent type of white glow. (It was ALIVE.) It felt as if the light had it's own consciousness. Quite strange to me now, but natural and normal to me then... It almost felt as if I've been there before. Not sure how to describe it. .. It's like a really faint childhood memory that's been lost in the annuals of time.

After the brief moment that I found myself there, I was aware of my "physical" surroundings again. For about 2 weeks after that, I had a "natural" high that I've never been able to replicate again. There was no reason for it, but I know it to be as a direct result of the "experience".

The second time this happened to me was 2 days after a car accident that I had been it, (which would've killed me, if I hadn't been wearing my
seatbelt). I again was lying down, but this time on my couch. About 5 min. had passed with my eyes closed, and again, I found myself in the same state as before, but this time I was aware of a huge valley with surrounding mountains before me. The mountains had snowcaps on their tops, and the crispness/outlines of the mountains were unbelievable. I saw what appeared to be BRIGHTLY internally lit red roses lining the base of the mountain range, and rolling green hills that were so lushisly green that you almost wanted to eat them! They were SO green and full of life. I've seen a lot of well kept lawns in my day, and nothing has even come close to what I saw that day. I was also aware of a spiritual being sitting down on the grass, that to me, felt like some sort of oracle/guarding. However, before I could investigate further, I was back to this physical world again. After this experience, I had that same "natural high" feeling again, but not for nearly as long as the first time.

I only became fully aware of what had happened to me after I had accidently (or had been guided) to this site some 3 years ago. It gave me a clarity that I was in desperate need of, and it helped me tremendously... I also, came across 2 other sites that helped me a lot as well. -- One being the "Near-death-Experience-Research-Foundation" website, and the other being the "Near-Death.com" website. Both of which have been very useful to me.

If I could summarize these 2 experiences into as few words as possible I would say that they were, to me, as close as I could ever get to jumping into the best painting, by the best artist, found amidst this entire universe... In all sincerity, it was hard for me to come back to this world after experiencing such beauty. This world feels to me like the negative of the picture that I saw "There". (Wherever "There" actually was.)

I hope that helps a little bit,

PUL,

I'm just going by my own experiences, but I believe there are around five different dimensions to the spirit world:

http://www.spiritual.com.au/articles/astral/astralp2_rbruce.htm#9

http://home.iprimus.com.au/terencem/thisisabbisquestionpage.htm

http://www.jonasridgeway.com/faq.html

http://www.near-death.com/experiences/cayce14.html

Spiritual.com, if you scroll down, talks about the astral dimension, the mental dimenion, buddhic, atmic, etc. The only one of these dimensions I've seen for myself first-hand (by accident), is the astral dimension. I know the astral dimension exists -- I've astral projected into it (about four times) by accident -- my bedroom posters looked fluid and melting. Our dreams take place in the astral dimension. I sleep on my back every night, and so astral projecting is much easier. I've astral projected, and watched my astral hand melt with etheric matter before by accident... I even made a thread about it.

I think the so-called Atmic dimension is the Heaven people see open up - "the light." The Atmic is, perhapes, the spirit world. I don't know why this plane would be named "atmic," but someone obviously named it that.

I think I know what the spirit world MAY be like because I've had glimpses. For one thing, I believe you have full-use of your subconscious-lucid dreaming mind in the spiritual planes. The subconscious mind, has much GREATER power of visualization than the conscious mind. In a full-fledged lucid dream, walking around on the ground, etc, your thoughts (and dream characters, etc) appear three-dimensional. This means, from my own experience, that perhapes flowers, fields, etc, are probably much prettier and more beautiful in the spiritual planes. Than again, my own astral projections are just a peek.

Astral projecting is like traveling to Germany and not getting past the airport. You might get a peek of the plane and beautiful women, but you're not getting in, and until you do, you don't know what it's really like. It's true.

I hope that helps.

Hey Cosmic_Ambitions, I have a question: In your visions you told of, can you remember if you had a sort of body over there or would you say you were just "awareness"? It's not important, sure, but for me it would be interesting to know concerning my imagination experiments.

Hey spooky2,

From the experiences that I had during both of the occasions in regards to my "perspective"... it was more as if I was "awareness" perceiving, rather than an actual astral body roaming the premises. I fully understand your question, and it is still hard for me to explain... It's like a vision that is interactive. A vision where you can sense the wind, smell, etc. Hard to explain. There was also one time, before falling asleep, that I had this vision/awareness that I was flying over the tops of trees that looked like nothing from this world. There "green-ness" was like that of the rolling hills that I described, very alive and internally lit. The light seemed to be the nature of the tree itself... It seems to be the creative pudding of the spirit world, so to speak. Those visions/moments of extreme awareness that I've had are very brief however. Don't know why...

I was wondering what exactly your imagination experiments were... I've had one time in my life where I was able to achieve full lucid dreaming. I was fully aware that I was in a dream state, and at that point I decided I would see what capabilities my imagination held... I actually made a tropical island around me. However, during this "lucid dreaming" it felt very fuzzy, (As dreams usually do), so it was hard to hold onto the memory of it. I had to constantly replay the dream through my mind in order to remember the lucidity of it... Otherwise, I knew it would fade away. During those experiences I explained of the intense awareness/visions... They were not fuzzy like lucid dreaming, but instead, clearer than my normal awakened state... When it happens you don't/can't forget it. (So, no need for replaying it in my mind.) It's THERE.

Also, with regards to the perspective had during those visions/moments of extreme awareness that I've had... I believe that it is possible to be there in spirit form/body... From what I've read, Bruce does it quite regularly. I believe also, that at death we are there in full spirit mode/body. However, I've not achieved the full spirit body experience. -- (yet.) Wink

Hope that helps,

PUL,

I recommend listening to the Leslie Flint tapes.. read about him first at www.leslieflint.com ; ... I hate to recommend things because I realize that everyone believes a little differently and it is very hard to get someone to believe in your take on it.. But here is a little of what I believe on this subject..

I do believe that we all experience heaven a little differently.. Just depends on what will make your journey most comfortable to the other side. Whether it is seeing your long lost relatives, best friend, or husband.. for me it will surely be my cats that I see first..lol...  But also, your surroundings... if you love nature then I'm sure when you cross you will probably see the beautiful meadows, ocean or whatever you love.. It's whatever will make you feel most at peace.. If your heart is with your family who is still on earth then for a while after your body dies you will probably stick around for a little while.  But It's really hard to say that because it is different for everyone. Even different for people who believe and feel the same.  Nothing really controls us.. we have free will.. The Leslie flint tapes are in the hundreds.. Hundreds of different descriptions of what it's like.   What really blew my mind was the description  that there are billions of heavens/spheres/levels.. and although we will come to know a lot when we cross, we will not know all.. there is still eternal growth and  learning over there.  There's things happening on different heavenly spheres that we will know nothing of.  At one point not to long ago I believed when we crossed we would know everything about the otherside, but now I don't believe this.. if we did  then there wouldn't be much to learn I guess.  I don't know though..just my conclusions.. ??? Thanks Rharris,

I agree with your and Leslie Flint's perspectives 100%. I too believe that the heavenly realms are perceived separately by each individual based on what they expect them to be/need them to be... For instance, I am highly fond of natural things/beaches/valleys, etc. Hence, my experiences. However, I do believe as well that some of the characteristics of these experiences are quite similar. (e.g. "light" being the construct of the various spiritual planes.) It seems as though everyone has reported the "light" phenomenon. The differences vary depending on what shapes, forms, characteristics this light takes on in order to comfort/bring to peace the individual experiencing it.  For example, if I died and was shown a tropical beach, but during my "living" days I hated tropical beaches... that wouldn't be a very good receiving station for me. However, beings I love tropical beaches, I would assume the "light" was creating something to comfort/bring to peace me, and it would do exactly that. I love animals too, so maybe I will be greeted by a guide taking the form of a particular animal that I'm quite fond of. As you have pointed out, the perceiver brings with him/her, his/her own window of creative energy to the spiritual planes... Personally, I wouldn't want it/expect it any other way.  Wink

Smiley.. thanks for your input to my reply Cosmic... I agree with you on the Light.. I believe there are some things that we will all experience similarly as well.. the light being one of them..  WE are all part of the same, so that is only natural.

I'm happy you are familar with Leslie Flint.  Finding him really has opened up so much awareness for me.  I wish everyone could experience it.

Have a good evening.. Grin

Merlin,

Not in a church, but my first four books are descriptions of what I perceived while exploring nonphysical realities including our afterlife.  My fifth book is a manual that teaches others how to visit and explore those places through their own direct experience.  My workshops teach this also.  My life revolves around doing what I can to teach others to do this for themselves as a way of eliminating the fear of death and providing assistance to those who need it after their death.
