Hi everyone, I'm new here. Smiley My name is Ryan, I'm 19 years old. This is sort of my introduction post. I also have a big question.

I've astral projected several times by accident. In one projection, I projected into my bedroom, I was standing up next to my desk, and I watched my astral hand melt. My posters in my bedroom looked melty and fluid. I walked into different rooms in our house, and saw my family members astral bodies standing up sleeping, standing up dreaming.

Also, I found these awesome websites:
http://www.spiritual.com.au/astral.html,
http://www.astralweb.org/,
http://www.jonasridgeway.com/,
http://www.astralvoyage.com/projection/index.html

I have a major question: When our bodies die, do we start lucid dreaming with other conscious astral spirits on the spirit planes? I've projected other times, and I've seen starry/sparkly astral beings walking around a starry astral plane, whereas I also saw my family members starry astral bodies standing up sleeping again.

After I found out about projection, I looked up projection websites and two major words. The two word's I looked up are astral and lucid, in Webster's dictionary, and I found they mean: astral
"Of, relating to, emanating from, or resembling the stars. Of or relating to the sky or the heavens. Celestial body."
Lucid:
"Translucent or transparent."

Wow. Now that I know the other side/afterlife is real, I've also read several books on the other side/afterlife subject. Including psychic John Edward's books, Sylvia Browne, George Anderson, ect. All of the books are very infortmative, especially Sylvia Browne's. Sylvia Browne's books sound VERY familiar to my own experiences and sound very familiar and true in general. I go into the malls and Barnes and Noble where my girlfriend works, and she pretty much let's me get free books on anything. Thanks for your replies. Smiley

Wow, now we've got two Ryans (one is named Chilipepperflea) who walk around OBE.  That's fun!

I loved your description of sparkly astral people.  What exactly do they look like?  Do they wear sparkly pajamas? Smiley

No, really, I'm not kidding.  I want to know.

Have you ever tried to "wake up" your sleeping/standing astral body relatives and talk to them while you were out of body to see if they would remember anything later?  Is that possible?  I'm unclear on how much a person can influence their surroundings when the person is OBE.

Thank you for the websites.

Hey Ryan!

Yeah my names Ryan also and I love Out Of Body Projections, mad about them. I have never seen another astral body floating above a physical body, just seen the physical so would definatly like to hear what happens. I think I more astral project at the moment but have you read Bob Monroe's books at all? Im half way through his first and he encounters OBE's and makes contact to people by once poking them, and it was confirmed so must be something there. I haven't had solid proof of Afterlife exisitance although I beleive in it as much as you can without proof.

I have had my own OBE proof though, one time through Alysia, both met out there unexpectedly! That was fun wern't it? And also through Vicky finding out where she works in an OBE down the the room number! But there are loads of really friendly funny and wise people here, its a really good board, glad I stumbled here!

Welcome to the board!

Ryan

Hi, and welcome!  Another teenaged Ryan, THAT'S all we need!  Free books?  Can I be your girlfriend's best friend?

PS--Your question has a long answer.  Let's ask Alysia to answer it.

Oh Alysia!

Welcome RyanParis,

wow, I only had one similar experience, but mine was the "poor mans" version compared to yours.  Thats awesome stuff, I'm sure at lot of us would like to hear more details, details, details.  When you have a chance.  Also, one question:  any info coming from "higher self", maybe commands given to you right before projecting?

Well you guys, astral traveling for me is very rare and happens by accident most of the time.

I was laying in my bed after several hours of sleep months ago, and seeing through my closed eyelides. When you're seeing through your eyelides, you're in the astral body. When seeing through my lids, I was almost by accident staring at the starry astral plane... astral beings (no taller than a regular tall person), were walking around the astral plane, and I also saw my families starry astral bodies standing up sleeping, from a distance away at the same time.

The astral beings, and astral bodies in general, look to be made out of small atoms that vibrate at a high speed. In my best projections, everything looks starry and there are things that don't exist on the physical plane: bright and pretty colors, spiritual places, astral beings, buildings, ect. It's very magical and amazing when it happens.

I've had more astral travel experiences, and I'll tell all if you guys want. The best thing you can do is project, and astral travel for yourself, to confirm the reality of it for you.

The confirmation of  imagination as being a reality?

It is, less strict than waking, and a more 'astral',lol' in density,  our imagination. And thats what projection is, in my understanding, exercising the ability to use our imagination and to trust it as a quality we possess that can be explored, and not dismissed as fantasy.
If you ,in meditation, arer focused on your inner senses, explore them.  its quite easy in these states to suggest an intent to your imagaination that will take you on a different less than dense experience, if you allow it to take you to the intended desired imaginative journey, trust the flow of your imagination and your desire...., that is no less real than waking state.  Waking state is only the denser version of our 'astral', lol, projections. OF OUR IMAGINATION.

Though,  these types of meditations and imaginative experience are not officially accepted as being themselves a 'worthy part of our being', but our imagination is one of the ways in which we do create realities.

My imagination didn't put those starry Astral beings there walking around the Astral plane. I was simply seeing through my lids, and there they were walking around the astral plane, among my family members' starry Astral bodies, too.

Here's a projection:

...

My Astral vision was on when seeing through my eyelides.

You'll know once you actually astral travel that it's for real.

Hello Ryan R:

Regarding your question, the spirit World comes before the physical World, so what you experience there is more real than what you experience here. Despite it being more real, it is much more fluid.

The physical World represents thought energy at a really slow vibrational rate, whereas, the spirit World represents thought energy at higher vibrational rates.

Therefore, in a way, what you experience during a lucid dream can be closer to how things mostly are, than how they are while in the physical World. The thing is, the physical World represents a small percentage of what exists.

From the spirit World's perspective the physical World is like last night's dream.

Hi RyanParis and all,
my one and only (as far as I remember) OBE of this "classic" type was also seeing through my lids. I was sleeping and then I somehow partly awoke and was looking at the wall of my room, where a picture is hanging. Then I realized I had my eyes closed and immediately awoke fully. It's a special experience, it feels absolute visually real, maybe even more than in physical waking state.

I've had that type as well, Spooky.  Sometimes I "wake up" in the morning and think I'm really awake, not realizing I'm looking through my closed eyes.  I've never seen anything like beings through.  I only see my bedroom just like regular waking vision.  Then I realize that my eyes are closed and that I still have my sleep mask on and I'll wake up for real.

yeah this happens to me too. Last time was yersterday morning.

I wonder if it really is astral vision. I was looking at my dorm alright but things were different. Not all the furniture was there. I figured I was hallucinating.

It's hard to tell.

Here's something interesting:

http://brain.web-us.com/lucid/luciddreamingFAQ.htm
http://brain.web-us.com/Dream/dreamfaq.htm

Brain website talks about how you can go out-of-body during lucid dreams, or astral project, and that REM state (rapid eye movement sleep), is when your body might be paralysed because of the projection.

I understand that we are paralyzed during REM, so that we don't physically act out what we're dreaming, but I thought you don't have to be in REM while having an OBE.  I don't think the body being paralyzed during REM directly relates to the OBE.  In other words, REM sleep means you are dreaming.  But you don't have to be dreaming in order to have an OBE.

Hey,

I haven't read all this yet but always had me curious Vicky, like you said we don't need to REM, so if i'm conciously acting out there I always wonder how much I have acted here while being out there if I have...haven't heard of anything yet but you never know lol

Actually from what I read (can find sources if you want), you must NOT have REM to be projecting.

I've heard there was a big surprise when they tested some sleepwalkers, they thought must be in REM/dreaming, but was actually in deep sleep (it's called delta, isn't it), where normally one is total bodily relaxed. So it's all a bit mysterious with those sleep/consciousness states.

This is interesting...

This is from Stephen LaBerge's book, Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming, page 21-22.

"Very little dream content is reported from delta sleep.  Interestingly, this state of deep and dreamless sleep is highly regarded in some Eastern mystical traditions as the state in which we establish contact with our innermost consciousness.  It is when the inner world can be suffused with the full light of the highest universal consciousness.  The ego state of waking consciousness drops away.  Moreover, the personal aspects of the unknown mind are temporarily abandoned.  The memories, the problems, the troubled dream images are left behind.  All the limitations of the personal unconscious are drowned out in the full light of the highest consciousness".

I'm assuming you guys' don't know for sure, but do you think (after physical death) we start lucid dreaming with other conscious spirits in the spirit world and higher dimensions?

All humans (and mammals) have REM sleep, and allows for projection. My English teacher said that sometimes when we are sleeping, our heart-beat reaches deadly low, and when that happens some of our subconscious mind kicks in and we dream. So, if our heart-beat stopped, it seems we'd be in our astral bodies and lucid dreaming, and therefore look lucid/transeparent like spirits.

I could be wrong.

I agree Ryan but distortion and viewing is distorted when we project sometimes, but I believe that is down to us being down here and this world influencing our experience over there. When we truly past I believe its just like we are here, but over there and don't have these inconsistancies.

Vicky,

"The memories, the problems, the troubled dream images are left behind.  All the limitations of the personal unconscious are drowned out in the full light of the highest consciousness"."

We need those timeouts, don't we?!

RyanParis,

right, I don't know this for sure. Usually, "dream" is used as opposed to physical waking state, so it might be different when we do not have a physical body. I guess much will be different then. And further I guess we will be in contact with other spirits. Sort of earth-life will be just a dreamlike memory then.
Vicky reminded us once that "waking", "dreaming", "daydreaming" are not as well distinguishable and/or exclusive as we usually think- for example when we drive a car and think of other things so that we have nearly no memory of the driven way. So to start from a basic consciousness which can phase into different states (maybe even at the same time?) is appropriate. But how similar to life with physical body our experiences without it exactly will be, who can tell?
