All in the cosmos....
Nov 28th, 2005 at 3:41pm

Hey Everyone,

I confused and not sure this is the place so excuse me if i posted this wrong but i don't know what this 'cosmos' is! Just wondered if anyone could enlighten me please, people talk about creation, experiencing, living in the cosmos. I think these are right but you know if anyone does know and doesn't mind passing of their knowledge, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ryan

Hi Ryan,
"cosmos" how I understand it is just a word for The All, the whole. In a more limited meaning it's outer space- the Soviet/Russian astronauts are called there "cosmonauts". The Greek word "kosmos" can also mean "order" and "ornament".

Ryan,

"Cosmos" derives from the Greek word "kosmos" which can mean "world as the sum total of everything here and now" or "universe."  In 1 Corinthians 6:2 St. Paul makes a fascinating observation that is usually trivialized by a slight mistranslation: "Don't you know that we shall exercise jurisdiction over the kosmos?"   "kosmos" here is usually given the too limited translation of "world" , but should be translated "universe" here.  What a glorious and tantalizing (if enigmatic) prospect!   In modern English, "cosmos" means "the universe as a harmonious and orderly system" (So Webster).

I'm still working on the answers, but here's what makes sense to me. A simple explanation based on experiences, intuitions and a bit of rational thinking.

On the one hand that which created the cosmos (universe)-I'll use the name God-exists as the awareness/consciousness that witnesses the universe through each and every one of us. I don't know how this awareness came to be. Whatever the case, this awareness is so open and capable, it can be aware of anything within its field.

From awareness came the creative aspect of God, which manifests as thought energy. For whatever reason, God was able to cause undifferentiated being to take on the appearance of many forms. I believe that many forms became possible, after God packaged thought energy with different vibrational rates, and then assembled these packages into many different combinations. If you illumine these packages of thought energy with awareness, you get different appearances.

Often thought energy is packaged so that you get individual beings (souls). When a soul becomes a part of the universe, for the most part, it is free to evolve in its own way. For a while, due to a lack of knowledge and understanding, it stumbles about without freedom. Eventually, once it has come to understand its predicament, it works itself free from its limited psychological conditioning, until it can see everything with comprehensive awareness, clarity and freedom. Or in otherwords, as opposed to seeing everything according to its emotional attachments and preferred ways of thinking, it sees things as they are.

Once a soul reaches this point, thats it. The assuredness of its knowledge will make it so that an ego based thought pattern can't come in with limited/false knowledge again. Real knowledge blows ego based intellectual knowledge away.

Eventually a soul discovers that pure unconditional love (PUL) is a key force that exists within the universe. Once a soul is free to act according to PUL, it will quite naturally considers the happiness of all living beings when it decides what to do. It will also notice that this is what God does, and as opposed to trying to come up with a plan that accounts for the happiness of all beings on its own, it will choose to take part in the magnificient plan that God already has in place.

Some might say that this doesn't represent free will. However, if a soul were to reach a point where it becomes free of all of its limitations and illusions, and as a result is overwhelmed with a love that causes it to be concerned about the happiness of not only itself, but all sentient beings, isn't it natural that its wishes would match God's wishes?

Basically awareness is one. However, souls have the option of limiting their awareness. The more they get rid of limitations, the more they'll be free to experience awareness in a more expansive non individual based way.

One other thing about awareness. It is so miraculous, that it can comprehend the meaning of any conclusion thought energy comes to, regardless of whether such a conclusion is true or false.

How did God come up with the properties of thought energy and PUL? I dunno.  Lips Sealed
