Hey there, New to Forum

Hey there, my name is Greg. (I tend to use Black Napkins alot, because i'm a huge Frank Zappa fan.)

I've been reading these boards for a while now, some things i find interesting. I'm a 2nd year college student at University of Missouri-Columbia. Within the past year i have taken an increasingly large intrest in all this "Astral" if you will.

I've always as a child wondered about what happens when you die. i always tried to just imagine absolute nothingless, this concept to me is very unwelcome.(I mean i would lie in bed and think of this stuff when i was like 8.)

About 2 years ago when i was 17, my father of 55 passed away very suddenly. It really caught us all off guard, although i believe he really lost his will to live. within the span of 5 or so years, he lost his job, home life was full of fighting, he turned to alcoholism. Me being a teen full of rage, i always resented his drinking habits, and how he seemed to have given up, we weren't very close at all.

I now realize i should have been alot nicer, dispite the alchoholism, I don't hold a grudge. I feel that i have learned quite a bit about myself, and people around me from this experience. I can honestly it changed me for the better.

I've never "made contact" with my father after his passing, Maybe that is one reason why i am trying to Meditate/AP. I do happen to believe in an after-life, although i'm not sure in what exact concept...

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that most people on this board are a bit older than me and also female. For some reason to me, alot of the statements from that crowd seem a bit more "Cliche", with not much actually backing up.

Maybe, it's my youth, or my "manlyness" if you will. But for some reason i have a hard time believing something without a reasonable amount of proof, and i've never really been a fan of anything to "cliche". I realize that alot of this is something to be experienced on your own.(which is what i'm trying to do, altough college keeps me busy.)

Theres alot of things i'd like to believe, like mediumship,(i ran across a site with a bunch of audio from Leslie Flint, Interesting but not much "proof") "healing touch", and
spirit guides.

Alot of these types of things seem to good to be true, i believe the universe is a bit more chaotic..

Well, haha that should be enough from me for right now, i just felt like i needed to rant. Thanks for listening, or not. :p

Greg,

First of all I'm sorry for your dad, but he is being supported there Im sure.

We all came from the same source. We are by nature Spiritual beings that once were inside God’s “Womb” and at certain point in our “lives” we decided to go out and grow up like an individual.
The hardest thing to understand is that despite of our pursuit for our own overview about the “Whole” we are still part of God. We were never disconnected. So we are all one even when we are (delusion) partially individual.

When we are there “inside” God we know all that stuff but we are much more God than our selves, we receive information but we do not manage it. We receive inputs from God but we do not have anything to load into God.

So we start from the very begin “scanning” Gods creation and learning things our own way and start to create our own overview. This way we start to grow and to contribute to the Whole with our own view of the things we go through. At certain point we will realize that we also can CREATE, so a new journey starts. (ups too many "starts" Grin)

This is why no one will give you any proof because the only way it can work is YOU making your own search and finding your own answers. The best others can do is telling you their stories but it will be always possible to doubt.

Welcome Greg.

I agree with Kardec. The only proof you can ever get is to learn to visit the afterlife yourself and all the tools are here on this website. Read Bruce's books and get started. It's an exciting journey. Wink

Hello Black_Napkins:

It's good that you want to verify things with your own experience, rather than trusting things blindly.  It's also good that you haven't allowed some of your past experiences to effect you negatively.

Now you can get down to real business. Wink

Hey Greg/Black_Napkins, welcome to the board.

I hope we can assist you in finding what you want, and we have all sorts of ages here, myself being 18 years old but age doesn't matter here which i have found so feel welcome.

Have you ever astrally projected or had an out of body experience? Both the same thing really. Do you believe you can?

For me I have already experienced going out of body, just posted todays experience up so its possible, but then to know you have to experience for yourself as previously said, but you can still believe and this will help!

I believe we do survive death, i would like to prove this for myself as well by contacting my grandad, well I have been in contact already but getting proof. Its a long and wonderful journey your about to take if your ready!

Hope you discover what you want to know and a lot more,

Ryan

Thanks for the welcome.

No answer your question, no i've never had an AP/OBE. I've tried to set aside 20minutes min. a day to mediate, but i've simply been to busy with School/Work/new puppy/friends/guitar. I hope i can find some more time in the near future.

I don't have the luxury of many friends who are interested in more "paranormal" things/ideas. In fact I take alot of intrest in this such as AP/RV/ETs/Space/time, things of that nature. So, of course i tend not to talk about it much around my close friends.

But i to think that it is possible to AP/OBE. I just feel bad that I can't trust people 100% that they are telling the truth....i'd like to, but it would be ignorant. Alot of peolpe claim to have achieved it, i'd like to believe that at least 1% of that mass is telling the truth, and i believe that is the case.

I also wonder if some aspects of APing is the persons imagination. I read somewhere that until you get into the higher focus levels, your are just using your imagination.(or something to that extent it's been awhile)

anyway thats enough out of my mouth. Thanks agian, i look forward to my stay here.

Hi Black-Napkins

In one of the Seances I attended earlier this year ( Direct Voice ) Leslie Flint came through loud and Clear. I have thre greatest respect for the man and Loved his book * Voices in the Dark *

Until this year, I had a titchy bit Doubt, say 10%,that maybe there was no Afterlife so I decided to get the Proof I needed. I experienced the amazing Seances,The table Tipping and was taught how to link into the Spirit World by a Very Professional Sensative at Sweden....

I flew home after a week  smiling from ear to ear with pure happiness knowing that I was giving the proof I yearned for! My life has changed from it....

I hope one day you get the proof you seek just as I did. I ain't got a lot of money but I found it somehow and it was worth every last penny!!

Good Luck!

Hi Greg-
Seems like a lot of non-females have responded to you, and not too much from a position of dogma. One of the very important tenets of Buddhism, which is essentially an experiential exploration of the conditions of life in its fullest extension, is to believe nothing until it works for you. You're starting out with that attitude, and I suggest tht you cling to it hereafter as well.

At risk of offending some of my colleagues, the "cheap and dirty" way to spiritual experiences is often through a past life regression induced through hypnosis.  I do therapy in this mode and have found it easy and convenient for anyone with a normally alert, inquisitive, intelligtent mind.  If you have some friends who practice hypnosis or guided imagery (try turning over some rocks in the Psych department and see who crawls out - some years ago it might have been me) they could easily do this with you. The key is to not lead, but to allow the experience to develop normally. I posted a How-To on my site at www.mind-body-spirit-hypnoclinic.com if you want to dig through the "things to read section". Or you could find an expert through the IARRT www.iarrt.org with years of experience. I suggest recording the experience, and then evaluating it afterwards.

Working with friends is best. If there are lingering questions, then you could go back and look again. Also, you'll get a sense of how similar everything is, and yet how differently we all experience it.

To understand how the data is acquired, look up your friends in the Electronic Engineering dept, and ask one of them to explain to you how a "regeneratiive radio receiver" works. (It's pretty simple.)  In your own inner explorations, you are using your imagination as the tuned system that regenerates, so that you lock onto compatible information to amplify and filter. The process also brings a reliable 3 db of distortion, from which we obtain a major part of the differences when two people have the same experience and yet express it differently.

Then, using both logic, experience and your own good sense, draw your own conclusions.

  Hi Greg,

Nice to meet you and welcome to the forum.  I agree with a lot of previous posters, go with what you learn from experience or feel to be true.

About the women thing...  Being a guy, i feel the need to explain some differences...  Women tend to be more innately intuitive, hence the phrases like "women's intuition" or "mothers intuition/knowingness".   Guys, on average, tend to operate more so from the left brain function, which is the logical, linear, interpreter,  active, analytical, "prove it to me" part of ourselves.

Women, in general, are often more in touch with the right brain aspect, which is the intuitive, unlogical, feeling, perceiver, passive, imaginitive, "this really resonates with me, though there is no proof" part of ourselves.

Neither one is better than the other, and we all have both in varying degrees of balance and predomination.  Its the balance between the two, which really produces results...but for that to happen, you have to accept that receptive, passive, feeling, feminine side of yourself.

This is not always easy to do in our western culture which is predominantly male/left brain oriented and often brainwashes young men to believe that this is the only part that matters.

Don't knock women, they have a lot to teach you, and a lot to learn from you too.  We all provide a balance for each other.

Hello and welcome!

I agree with what everyone else is saying here.  Finding the truth for yourself through your own experiences is what it is all about.  We are all here to share with and learn from each other.  I also find that a lot of times just talking about a certain subject with others can get you excited about it and motivated, and usually this will produce an experience for you as proof that it exists.  So keep being curious and asking questions and you will undoubtedly find your own truth.

I also recommend that you read the articles and retrievals on this board, as well as Bruce's books.  It will help you get started.

Love, Vicky
