Mentally Challenged man steps forward from spirit
Jun 28th, 2005 at 3:38pm

         Hello All,

I just wanted to briefly tell about a session I had this past weekend regarding a young man in spirit who stepped forward to say hello to his aunt. The aunt was hoping for a contact from her husband, instead her nephew came through giving a hello to her and family. This nephew  had been mentally challenged with Downs syndrome while on earth plane. He was holding a favorite stuffed toy dog and showing it to me that he had owned. He was smiling broadly and letting everyone know he was okay.  His spirit was bright and strong with no previous belief system holding him back from making contact. love linn

Thanks for sharing this Linn. I've read that those who choose mentally challenged life and disabled life do advance faster than the 'normal' person.

Thanks linn-

Those who choose to work through their karmic needs by selecting a mentally or physically challenged life are motivated by love, else they'd have taken an easier way. Therefor, they have taken a very heroic path.  You story warms my heart!

Thanks for this Linn; despite all my reading in the psychic communication literature, I have come across very little on this subject matter. Most info is regarding the newfound mental stability of elderly alzheimers' sufferers.  I suspected that this (ie. your experience) would be the case, but it's great to have this kind of confirmation.

love, gordon

Just wanna know...
Why would a mentally retarded person "advance"
faster than a well-put-together person?
I mean... if a retarded person advances faster
than a normal human... then does a dog (or cat)
also advance faster than a normal human?
If you've been around a dog or cat for any length of
time, you will see that they are actually MORE intelligent than a Down's syndrome case.
Consider... drop five dogs, or five cats, on a deserted island and come back in a year (and do the same with five Down's syndrome cases.)
Likely as not, some (if not all) the dogs or cats will still be alive... but probably ALL the Down's syndrome cases will be dead. They cannot even care for themselves, you see. A dog or cat CAN, however. Is this not a manifestation of intelligence, after all?
So... how is it that people with the minds of an animal, or less than an animal really, "advance" faster?
Sorry if I stepped on any toes here...

Brendan,

Then, Stephen Hawkings would also lack intelligence because he could not care for himself on a desert island?

Perhaps a dog or cat does "advance" faster than a human being.  However, I really doubt if it would be through intelligence...  Smiley

What is "greater" than intelligence?  It is love.

But is not the love a normally intelligent human being
is capable of... given (or received!) through action of the FREE WILL... not a FAR richer, deeper, many-splendored thing than the non-reflective, automatic/reflexive love that a dog - or a human imbecile/autistic/whatever - is capable of???
In the case of Down's Syndrome... is the person truly human, considering that our MENTAL life... our COGNITION... is what truly sets us apart from other animals? Consider! This distinction is so fundamental, that I would feel forced to accord "human" status to a human-equivalent (and emotionally "alive", if such is possible) artificial intelligence... say, a conscious computer, or robot (should one ever be built) but I have severe problems with according "human" status to something with the cognitive capacities of an animal... regardless of what womb bore it.
And WHY would intelligence be penalized in the grand scheme of things, anyway??? (In terms of slower "advancement"...)
Call me callous.
Sorry for the choice of words above, but I absolutely loathe political correctness...

Well, Brendan,

I have to take issue with the idea that a cat or dog has automatic/reflexive love.  How do you know? Are you quite sure of that?  Have you slept with a cat's sweet breath on your face at night and felt its joy at your nearness as it licked your hand?  Have you been surprised when your dog gazed deeply into your eyes and put its head onto your shoulder for no "reason" at all?

And how much have you studied Down's Syndrome?  Can you know that such a person does not love?  Can you say that they don't bring love into a family who feels blessed by his/her presence?

I would be willing to admit a conscious computer to the circle of love if it so happens....and even you Smiley

Intelligence is not penalized.  It is what the soul might do with that intelligence that may be questionable, right?  But I know nothing of the penalties.  If there are penalties, I will surely suffer them.  However, I choose to think that love is greater than all of our questions and all of our actions.

Actually, I've often been sleeping and been awakened by my cat's HORRIBLE breath in my face... Wink
Aside from that though, although I love the fat, 22-lb. S.O.B., I often wonder if he wouldn't kill and eat me if I were bite-size... Shocked
Is REAL love dependent on intelligence? I suppose the jury's out on that one, maybe forever. But if I had to place a bet, I would guess that it probably does... but who REALLY knows just how smart that cat is, anyway???

Yes, coming into this earth plane bite-sized definitely brings some problems along with it... Smiley

And no, I don't think real love is dependent on intelligence.  It is vast and huge and it finds its way into the strangest of places...

We don't need to worry about our "bite-sizeness" when there's real love around!
