Mar 25th, 2017 at 2:43am

Hi Guys,  Smiley

"Please make a list from your worst fear down to you least fear"

I will bounce it off with my as yet incomplete list of my fears.

1) Alzheimer's disease or total old age dementia.

2 ) Intractable unrelenting physical pain.

3) Insanity.

2) War in which me and my family are involved.

3) Starvation or dying of thirst because the above war, or some other catastrophic disaster.

4) Being fired from my job

5) Total Loss of all my assets such as my house leading to total loss of any financial income (Poverty)

6) Being convicted and jailed for a crime I did not do.

7) Murder or sudden death of my wife, or one of my children or great grandchildren.

6) Death (It is amazing how far down death is on my list?

What are you worsts fears please list then as I did so that we can have something to debate?

Undecided  Sad  Cry

I would expect to see this thread moved to the off topic section by Bruce being as it relates to the afterlife in no way. Lately there have been posts moved that are far more on-topic than this one. Consistency is good.

Mentioning death in a long list of fears is quite different from starting a topic focused on fear of the afterlife. I have no issues with you sir, it's nothing personal. This thread is off-topic independent of the author.

You do have issues with me and don't lie about it. First before I made a comment in your Swedenborg thread you had the gall to say I should not participate, before I had taking part or said anything about him. Then your sent me an unpleasant email and now you say this thread of mine is off topic.

You do not like me and don't lie about that and stop trying to hijack everything I say.

Alan, for what it's worth, I think OutofBodyDude is being sincere.  As far as liking or not liking, on a personality level, not all of us are going to like each other or get along.  I've interacted with MANY people, especially on forums, whom seemed to dislike me.  Not on this forum so much (except by CB), but on others, I've been called and insinuated some pretty nasty and negative things, even though usually I'm trying to come from a helpful and positive place.

Even if we rub each other the wrong way personality wise, it's important to try to respect and treat each other at least decently.

Also, the nature of internet forum interaction is a bit odd in some ways. On one hand, it's very impersonal, and yet there is always that personal aspect of our feelings and other peoples feelings.

I think if most of us met each other and interacted in person, we'd probably get along better, because there is less chance to mistakenly read something into what a person says.  For example, I recently thought that Vicky might be referring to me in a negative way and that she was being sarcastic.

I'm glad I asked what she meant and didn't assume too strongly or let myself get upset about it.  Part of what helped with that, is that Vicky and I have met each other in person.  I got a certain sense of her, she seemed like a sincere and cool person in person, and so I thought, "maybe I'm reading this wrong, even though it seems this way?"

While I haven't met Vince, OutofBodyDude, in person, I get the sense that he's a sincere person who tries hard to be positive and helpful.  We haven't always agreed on certain things either. Albert (Recoverer) and I didn't always get along that well.  I think I rubbed him a bit wrong in the very early days.  But now we are good friends whom more clearly see the good in each other even though sometimes we have different styles and have different personalities.

Alan your second comment in the Swedenborg thread stated that you knew nothing about Swedenborg, yet in your first comment you made several negative remarks about him. The contradictory nature of this led me to believe that you would not be a productive member of the conversation. So to avoid cluttering up the thread with further distracting dialogue I sent you this personal message, word for word (aside from the brackets):

Quote:
You [Alan] said:
if you read my last post you would have seen that I said that I know nothing about the life or writings of Swedenborg and therefore, it should be obvious to anyone that I have nothing to contribute to this thread, case closed. [Here I was quoting you from the Swedenborg thread]

But before that you said his writings were silly and laughable.

Surely anyone can see that there is the possibility of you trolling the thread. I just wanted to make sure that didn't happen. Thanks.

(Note that slandering a person without knowledge of them is essentially the very definition of trolling. I was not being mean, simply being accurate.)

You then sent me this message:

Quote:
Swedenborg was a huge fake and wrote the most stupid inane outrageous rubbish.

Little dwarfs living on the surface of our airless moon

But according to you if I show proof of that I am trolling?

Get a life and leave me alone

However, I will lower myself to make any further posts on "YOUR THREAD"?

So am I missing something here, or are you just full of contradictions? You said that I sent you an unpleasant message when your message was the one full of nasty remarks (mostly about Swedenborg). And you said I told you to step out of the thread before you said anything about Swedenborg, when in reality the very reason I asked you to withdraw was due to your negative comments about Swedenborg and your admittance to having no knowledge of him and his works. Lying will get you nowhere Alan.

OutofBodyDude,

It is a huge waste of time to try to get it into your skull that you dislike me, if you did, then we not we would not have been engaged in this,
going- nowhere-dialogue.
