Tom Campbell

Throughout my recent research, I have come across Tom Campbell's theories on the nature of reality and was wondering the general opinion on them.  From what I can tell, and this is coming from fairly light research considering that I haven't read My Big TOE, it seems that Campbell has several similarities and differences with the works of other explorers, such as Robert Monroe or Bruce. One particular aspect of Campbell's research that I find somewhat disturbing is his description of what occurs during the crossover into the Afterlife, in that we are simply put through what ever scenario seems best for easing the transition (i.e. the illusion of greeting family members or religious figures) and are provided distractions (i.e. waiting in lines) until the memory of Earth life has faded. This, along with a general strange feeling brought with the implications of a purely digital/virtual existence cause me to shy away from Campbell's work to a degree, despite his exploring experience and involvement with the Monroe Institute. This feeling could simply be a result of misunderstanding his work, so if I am completely misinterpreting some aspect(s), I would appreciate a correction and/or further explanation/means of research.

I'm not an expert of Tom's work. I've read a little of his book and watched some of his videos.

He basically seems alright to me. That "digital" thing might appeal to the scientific community more than other terminology.

If you think about it, what does "digital" really mean?  What is "digital" made of? I figure Soure/God uses the beingness of his existence to create what he creates, and terms like mind, digital, or energy don't precisely and accurately say what beingness actually is. Whatever it is, we most certainly are able to experience its results whether positive or negative.

Yeah, maybe I'm reading too much into the literal interpretation of his terminology. Perhaps I should look more at his message rather than get hung up on his word choice.

TC's model of reality begins with two assumptions: That some mystical substance exists and evolution.  From there he goes on to model reality and as far as I can understand, it's a good model, however, all models have limitations and Tom will be the first to say so.

One difference from my perspective is TC indicates that consciousness is fundamental and all else is virtual having evolved from consciousness.  I go a little deeper than that to say "essence" is fundamental and essence gives rise to consciousness, consciousness gives rise to mind and mind to matter.

  Boheric,

I'm not an expert on Tom Campbell and his work, but it seems to me that so far, your main concerns have not been addressed.

  Quote:

I don't know if he says the above or not, but i would disagree on the particulars of the above.  Often times, loved ones we had in physical, do actually come to greet us.  Why wouldn't they, they have a connection to us and we to them.

The most real thing about these earth lives, are our relationships and connections with others.  It is true that sometimes situations are set up or fabricated to increase comfort, such as the appearance of the general environment, but again usually the relationships and individuals are very real.

Earlier, i said i'm not an expert about Campbell's work, but neither am i ignorant of him and his work.  I read most of MBT, have seen some youtube videos, spent some time at his forum (and read a good portion of his replies).

At his forum, you will not tend to hear more balanced and discerning feedback about him, because any voices that are not more fully of the ism of MBT or personality cult of Tom are quickly weeded out.  It is one of the most heavy handed and restrictive forums i've ever been on (quite a number have been booted off), and Tom is put on a pedestal of an all knowing, all seeing Master by a number of members there (certainly not all, but enough to be rather limited, especially since it's the moderators).

Anyways, in my perception and experience, T.C. is a wise, perceptive, and mature person, unusually so even.  However, he is not yet a He/She type, and has errors and limitations of perception.  One time during meditation, i asked expanded guidance, "please bring to my conscious awareness that which would be most spiritually helpful for me or the whole to become aware of now." (i had no idea what i would get, and i rarely receive messages about or for other people).   For some reason, i actually received a message relating to Tom Campbell (i first 'heard' a name, which apparently i garbled some as immediately after, i was shown a clear image of a white haired and bearded man that looked like T.C. and thus contradicted the name. If i don't get something right the first time, guidance will correct with another way of relating info).  Later, my wife had dreams relating to him and his forum.  A spiritual friend of mine also received a message around this time for me, something about "warn T.C." (interesting, because he did not know i was on his forum at the time, etc).  All together, it indicated that he can lack discernment of limiting forces (long story, but in short, a popular channeled material and a moderator he chose, these are that i know of).

It is better to go within and directly connect to expanded guidance, than hanging on the words of this or that fellow in-physical.  Expanded guidance doesn't have much limitation or errors of perception, and is free of the baggage of being directly connected to a human body.   The issue then comes in translating what you are getting.  That relates to your own personal filters, beliefs, perceptual limitations, degree of attunement to PUL, etc, etc.

I'm not suggesting don't read Campbell's work, or others, but rather very much practice his trademarked saying of be skeptical but open minded or vice versa and apply that practice just as much to his work as any others.  In other words, don't get overly caught up in same, as a belief system as many have.

That, and ultimately it's preferable to do the former in any case, go direct to the knowing source from within.  I think there are many constructive and accurate things about his work, but no individual or source who is not a He/She type themselves will be fully accurate, fully constructive, etc.  It's a type of all pervasive consciousness physics law.

The more you attune to that expanded guidance within, and the more you attune to PUL Consciousness, the more you can clearly and automatically sift the wheat out from the chaff in outer sources.
