I return to this site less and less as time goes on. Part of the reason is there used to be a lot more interesting dialogue that went on. Unfortunately you are a trend here and post a disproportionate amount, and I wanted to point out for the new folks a few things to be aware of when dealing with you.
1/ I have shown in the past multiple times that you have plagiarized. It's a theme with you. If anyone's interested they can find the threads on this site, unless they have been deleted.
2/ You tend to make great, grandiose claims about your spiritual adventures, with not much in the way of verifiability. If someone didn't know you they may be confused into thinking you are a great spiritual leader. It seems like you just create a lot of spiritual fiction. This is to the detriment of the site, which used to include (and maybe still does include) real spiritual seekers and explorers.
3/ You made great grandiose claims through your blog, or used to, which you used to call yourself "Master of Wisdom". In fact, here is an example from another site:
http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/31258-the-unimaginable-vastness-of-the-univer...where you confirm that yes (your words speaking about your title):
"Master of wisdom, not of physics/science etc." This isn't something you have done in fun; you were very serious about this.
4/ You are over the top insulting to people who point out your problems, as you have evidenced here. This also coincides with the next point, which is:
5/ You are arrogant, repeatedly insulting the fact that I'm a teacher over the years, and insulting others who disagree with you. You have said something in the past to the effect that you have had much more important jobs, and essentially the implication is that my opinion counts less than yours because of it.
6/ If you put out this spiritual fiction, don't be surprised when people criticize it. It seems like you can't tolerate criticism or critical questioning, even when things are written in confusing ways, such as who the author was, and what various sentences mean (do you really have all of these grandiose visions)?
7/ Lastly, my question for you is why does it matter for you to try to impress people on the internet with your spiritual greatness? I'm no psychologist, but it seems like you have a need to be respected or admired to a much greater degree than is found in most people. You have been willing to plagiarize, insult, attack, and create stories to seemingly fulfill this need.
It's sad that a site that used to have solid dialogue from people who were genuinely spiritual seekers be hijacked into hyperventilating self aggrandizement and arrogance.
pratekya I will not permit you to call me by my first name Alan, that name is restricted to my friends, which are all the forum member with the exception of you! I have been bold in using my own name, but vultures like you, follow me around the internet trying to devour me, with hate spite and retribution. I dare you to use your own name like I have and you will find your like quickly following around and taking the bait to sprout their hate and venom.
You are a hypocrite of the worst kind, pontificating scripture to us, while not applying it to your own life.
This forum is not a Christian based forum, it is a place for open minded interaction on the Afterlife, Mysterious, esoteric and the unexplained. If you have nothing to add around these topics go away and leave us alone!
We don't want and don't need your attempts to brain wash us by posting Christian Cherrie picked scriptures from a bible that many don't believe in and that is full of ridiculous nonsense , like a 6 day creation, 6 thousand year old earth, god of retribution , spite and hate, like you are turning out to be, if your are not careful
Jesus said, if you don't forgive another then you will not be forgiven yourself. Using your own religious dogma, I asked years age for your forgiveness, for a hash personal message I sent you years ago, while both of us were active on the forum. AND YOU SAID YOU HAVE FORGIVEN ME!!
It was a personal message from me to you, yet you betrayed my trust and put it on the forum for all and sundry to see. By the way, no one commented or took your side back then , so why for gods sake do you keep coming back and harping about it, get over it, like a man, not a hurt little baby?
Yet now years later you come back with hate and unforgiving and attempt to make me look like a lying idiot and fraud in the eyes of my fellow seekers of deeper knowledge. Thus you are a hypocrite according to your own religious belief system.
he unimaginable vastness of the universe, is my own work I wrote it long ago and to lie and say I plagiarized my own work is a despicable spiteful lie!
Guys go please go and Google using my name for your search and see if you can come up with all the plagiarizing he said was done by me and it should be obvious, even to the most stupid that the essay
Unlike the spiteful person in the quote I am educated in the sciences and very comfortable debating of scientific forums. All he does is criticize others, trying to prove they are lying cheats, when he has never, ever put even one interesting topic on the forum, which he haunts now again, with his spite, sprouting self religious dogma, that he expect others to adhere to while he does the exact opposite to what he preaches, sowing seeds of discord hate and spite.
Guys please Google my name

When I first joined this forum the internet was brand new in South Africa, I had absolutely zero knowledge how to behave or act in it, especially on a forum like ours, so being a fallible mere mortal I made mistakes, including copy and pasting articles from a few sources on the web, when I had no idea that this was wrong, because I was new to the net and only using with the painfully slow dial up system of the early internet in South Africa.
Bruce Moen pointed out my errors to me, I learned from his advice and stopped copy and pasting, unless I put the link to the article, something I was totally unaware was necessary back then as a completely new user.
Now I sit with this hateful hypocrite getting under my skin with his spite, it seems that I have committed a sin against his god for which there is simply no forgiveness
Friends of mine on the forum , please use a Google search, with my name Alan McDougall and objectively see for yourselves, if you can come up with all the cheating plagiarizing he accuses me of, especially after he told you that I have plagiarized my own work

The unimaginable vastness of the universe06-15-10, 02:00 AM
Greetings forum,
I am sure most of you have some concept of how truly huge our beautiful universe is, For the others who perhaps do not have a good perspective about this, I post this thread for them .I do not think it will generate much dialogue and my purpose for posting this topic was just for general interest and information.
The vastness of the universe
Author Alan McDougall
The distances in space are unimaginably vast beyond human comprehension. If I try, tell an uninformed that it is so many kilometers to the Sun or moon, will these people be able to comprehend these vast unbelievable distances. The moon and sun are a mere two light seconds and eight light minutes respectively from the earth.
Light travels at 300 000 kilometers a second or seven times around the earth in the same time. The moon is a mere 400 00 kilometers and the sun about 156 million kilometers from the earth respectively, next-door neighbors in fact. Even this is near distance on cosmological scale is almost impossible for anyone to truly comprehend.
What about our nearest neighbor, Alpha Centauri only 4.2 light years away and the next nearest star to the sun. Just around the corner on the vast cosmological scale.
It helps if one understands that the fastest object ever made by man “(spacecraft voyager at 100 000 kilometers per hour)” would take 80,000 years to get there. Then if you understand how amazingly fast that object actually goes one might begin to gleaning some understanding of how far away Alpha Centauri is. Moreover, Centauri is our next-door neighbor!
Then we can move further. Let us say, Epsilon Eridani, 10 light years away. That is over twice as far - Voyager would take close to 200,000 years to get there. All evidence of human civilization would be pretty much gone in a few thousand years, given an average society lifespan of about 1000 years or less, We're talking 200 societies coming and going before Voyager makes it to Epsilon Eridani. Moreover, Epsilon Eridani is right next door.
The Andromeda galaxy, The galaxy nearest to our own milky way galaxy is mere two million light years away.. Voyager would take forty thousand billion years (40,000,000,000,000) to get there. That is over 3300 times longer than the current postulated age of the universe, and that's our nearest galactic neighbor.
There are galaxies that are estimated to be 12 billion light years from earth and the strange objects called quasars even further at 14 billion light years. To reach far galaxies like these unimaginable remote objects, with a Voyager like spacecraft, would take almost an eternity and it is obvious that this cannot be the ultimate method of crossing the universe. I foresee instant teleportation or some type of mind contact means as the method used by advanced humanity communicating across the vastness of the universe in the very distant future. To explore the universe by means of a metal space craft at present seems a science fiction impossibility. But in time present perceived impossibilities might become a possibility!
