For the sake of argument, let us assume God exists and in the general consensus of most popular religions you must be holy and follow all of God's rules to have a continued existence.
God promises a happy eternal life to the Mother, yet all of her children are wicked in the eyes of God.
God gives the mother eternal afterlife etc.
The mother is sad to the point of not wanting to exist at the PERMANENT LOSS OF HER CHILDREN which she loved.
I could easily see this scenario played out in many various forms all equaling out to a system from God which I would conclude is unfair and not up to my standards of what I would expect from an omnipotent being.
In some ways, mankind's intelligence, the capacity of thinking events and future possibilities through, not only puts man on a level of God, but also seems to put man on a higher level than God himself. (Assuming writings such as the Bible are the best God can provide to explain all situations and issues that can arise.)
