Can someone explain the disk/disc? concept to me?
Aug 6th, 2012 at 6:45pm

I am always confused by this terminology and would like to learn more about it.

Is it perhaps a concept/theory of multiple beings being the same entity yet not knowing it until later? Such as multiple lives that come together in the afterlife and meet each other; Separate, but the same?

This is really confusing to me! It really seems to be a strange and far fetched terminology and I would be really interested in learning more about it, especially scientific tests performed to prove the existence of such a concept! ( unless I am way off )

Hi

One way to describe it is " a concept/theory of multiple beings being the same entity yet not knowing it until later? Such as multiple lives that come together in the afterlife and meet each other; Separate, but the same.”

You don’t sound confused at all, Sir.  I’d say you’re right on, -- on this point  at least  (-:

I see the Disk concept as kind of a microcosm of what Source/the Creator did with us 'in the beginning'.  It created a multiple of free willed, unique self aware selves out of Itself, but which exist within a Whole or "Oneness".

Well, our Consciousnesses or Souls/Spirits being aspects or parts of that original creative essence, we were endowed with (or inherited) similar creative abilities.   One such ability is to fragment or compartmentalize our consciousness into a multiple of free willed, self aware parts/aspects but again which are basically and essentially interconnected.  I guess Bruce calls it a Disk because he sees it a bit analogous to how a computer Disk is both a Whole or One functioning, interconnected system but with many different individual programs, functions, etc.

Why would we do this?  That's a good question and while i don't know all the answers, i suspect that the common saying "variety is the spice of life" is one of the underlying ones.  Wink

Also, as regards Earth life, it's no mystery that focusing our awareness in this particular dimension/level tends to be difficult and heavy, and there often comes a point where a self stops growing and learning and reaches a kind of static point of stubbornness and overly set habits of mind and heart which keep a self stuck in limiting patterns.

One way to continue the learning and growing process would be to take out the "old" self and send in a "new" self, but one connected to the old self, but without all the specific memories but with some similar traits, abilities, talents, and inclinations (both expanding and limiting in nature) as developed from other selves and lives, but put in new conditions with different variables, and freewill being what it is, oft new patterns, traits, tendencies, abilities, etc. would develop.

Eventually, one self somewhere down the line is going to figure it all out, and open up completely to that all important Universal Love flow and then help the rest of Itself step outside of this particular play-pen, and not just the rest of it's own Disk, but other Disks and their selves.  One of the most essential traits of a growing maturity or developement is a more and more universal concern for the well being of others in non specific or limited ways.

Somehow, it's both a non linear and linear process at the same time, or at least appears that way to me so far.

Scientific proof?  That's a funny one!  Maybe we should start believing the scientists and various "experts" over our own repeated experiences?   Hmm, not what i would choose, but you can if you like.  Rather limiting, don't you think?

There could probably be several descriptions. One is in Monroe's Ultimate Journey,
where he first uses the word I-There, in a book.

Assume the following. Somehow an animal moves into the afterlife,
meaning that the animal has died. Somewhere along those lines a
Consciousness becomes manifest in the nonphysical, connected to
the animal, be it during the animal's life or after the animal's death
in the nonphysical/astral/afterlife/whatever.

This manifest Consciousness we can call the I-There or Disk.

The dead animal's mind/consciousness/soul/"stuff" is now linked to the
I-There/Disk, which processes input from whatever optional other creatures
alive in a physical world and also in other nonphysical worlds.

I don't think anyone has an idea about how an I-There forms. DeMarco
got the answer from "The Guys Upstairs" that they didn't know how
an I-There initially is created. Perhaps it "always" exists but more or
less visible at times?

Then the animal either is so spiritually developed that it doesn't want or
need to go through re-birth, that the animal joins with its I-There, being both
a union and an individual part of the I-There. So some kind of "no-self" existence
has evolved. But the animal can still be communicated with as a "self",
depending on view point from the external communicator.

If the animal chooses to go through re-birth into the physical, some important
part of its previous life stays in the I-There. This means that any creature,
most likely, very seldom is completely re-born. This also means that the
re-birth concept in Hindi or Buddhistic teachings is partly incorrect or
has at least to be viewed differently.

As the I-There/Disk concept sort of abandons a "complete" re-birth of the
creature, that could to some extent also explain why we have such difficulties
remembering "previous lives", as they are not really previous, only
connected to us in some sense, for example in the sense that we will
have an easier time performing some tasks, which our "previous" life
was skilled at, for example playing the piano or baking bread.

Nevertheless, the re-birth concept is still useful as each re-birth is overlayed
on all "previous" lives up to a certain level. Say that the animal (or the human)
is "reborn" 10 times. At some point the sum of all these re-births makes
the animal/human/creature reach a stage where no "further" rebirth
in the "overlayed sense" is needed or useful. There then remains the
other kind of re-birth, through assembly of "pieces".

The layer cake, the 10 overlayed "previous" lives move to the I-There and
become a sort of resident member of the I-There.

The resident members of the I-There still need to have more experiences
in the physical or other worlds. Re-birth is still needed for the I-There's needs,
whatever they are. So the resident members of the I-There, then take
"pieces" of themselves and put those pieces together into new re-births.
This means that someone born from a well developed I-There, consists
of several resident members.

This description of the I-There may not be correct and most likely I'm just
guessing, but I think that's one way the I-There/Disk concept has been
explained, at least in my mind.

I haven't completely understood how the re-birth and "overlay" of lives
work. Perhaps that could be target for a PE mission?

There are more mysteries.

One is that a person can be re-born from "pieces" of two or more different
I-There's. I don't know where that person ends up then in the afterlife.

There is also the talk about "graduation". Becoming a resident member
of an I-There is not a final step. There are at least one more step in
the sense that people can "graudate", become "higher" beings in some
sense. If that "graduation" is done on all "overlayed" previous lives
or in some different way I don't know.

I think that there can also exist "previous lives" who by some reason has
"dropped off" other Consciousness not even remotely related to human
I-Theres, but those foreign "previous life" can joined with a human I-There.

Then the I-There as a whole can graduate, and it can join with other
I-There's when the time is right. Anyway, in order to become
"complete", the I-There has to collect all its previous lives, be
they stuck in F 23/BSTs or otherwhere. That's one reason why
retrievals are needed.

During a lifetime in the physical at least, the I-There at several occasions
helps or gives the live person guidance in life. Sometimes the person makes
her/his own choices and sometimes the person manages to pick up on the guidance.
At some times the person picks up the guidance but rejects it or finds new and
better ways of doing things than the I-There has figured out. Exactly how
this guidance works is a mystery, but I think it is has to do with Monroe's concept
of (M) Field manipulation, but it's not totally clear to me why guidance so
often is very difficult to pick up.

Several parallel lives from the same I-There can be present at the same time.
Some lives of an I-There are completely nonphysical and have other purposes
than we in the physical have.

wow...

now I've firmly settled you into a BST... Smiley

Honestly,

I think the disc concept is an interesting interpretation from a group of explorers, but don't tie yourselves into this as a belief system either.

Clearly the human condition in the physical world implies that we separate ourselves out from everything else, when in essence this is an artificial separation.  There are different earth-life experiences that teach us about love, real love that comes from our core, and this is more important than the disc concept.
In some ways, the disc is another artificial construct that maintains a false separation from God and other discs.  Could we voluntarily participate in this manner?  Of course.  Is it the highest state of being?  No.

The novice to TMI and New Age thought may believe that making it to Focus 27 (the heaven with much independent freedom) is the main goal, or joining with one's disc in understanding.   I see these as intermediate goals along the way.  And hey, if that suits you, so be it.  But I prefer to concentrate on the bigger more unified picture.  So Focus 27 sounds wonderful to me, but it is full of people pursuing their own pleasures and indulgences - basically good people, but still perhaps with more to learn about love.

Also, the idea that the disc recycles us as if molding clay into new forms to go back down to earth to "get it right," is at this point speculative.  While we may have others we see as tied to us or even experience a past life related to ours, it is not always clear that this past life is truly ourself - as opposed to our minds experiencing the linked- mind and the situation.  This is a tricky area.

Many on this forum talk about not buying into the false belief systems of religions.  By the same token, true believers, one should not buy into a belief system brought back by others of modern, non-religious thinking, if you haven't experienced it yourself.

This is why keeping an open mind is vital, as is asking for help in tough situations.

M,

Independent freedom isn't an artificial separation. That means you are free to pursue god as others are free to pursue the disk/orb, both or none of these matters. If I were to help you understand the topic with my experiences, that would require you asking for it. Could love you more than you were aware about, and you could still be genuinely not interested in the topic - so - you, basically a good person, are free to pursue your own pleasures and indulgences. Crossing over and wanting to help, being a so called helper, that doesn't mean all do it full time, that none do that full time or that all want to be helpers.

Hi Bob,

I completely agree.  That people do pursue their loves and interests after they cross over just like here on earth.  I guess what I am saying is that some people miss the forest for the trees.  They say "oh see those people in "hollow heavens" - poor souls, they are in a belief system.  But then their belief system is centered around Focus 27, without necessarily realizing that there are other possibilities.

What I was trying to convey was not that we should all be helpers.  Merely that one shouldn't feel one must master or study the I-There or the disc theory simply because TMI explorers have described the discs.  Prior to TMI, discs as we know it were not well described, though reincarnationalists from different religions did discuss similar concepts.

But one of the lessons I think most important for me personally is to release ego-based thinking and the karma which inevitably follows with it.  This is, admittedly not easy as much of being raised as a child involves indulging the ego.  But when we act purely from non-ego based love, we are allowing more of the pure force of love to fill us and thereby others.  This sounds a bit wacky.

Anyway, I've always wanted to meet you, Bob.   Glad you could drop us a line.

Matthew
