It all started out simple enough. Now I can’t believe I fell victim to such a now obvious scheme. I brought myself into the realm of unconsciousness without any fear of what might lie beyond my waking life. I had been meditating for about 3 years. I admit I started out trying to achieve an out of body experiment. But what I have ended up with is an experiment in longevity. How can I stay conscious beyond death? How do I know positively that my consciousness will extend beyond the physical world upon my bodily demise?

When I took up meditation I found that it was highly relaxing to me for the rest of the day, but I didn’t ever achieve any of the OBE (out of body experience) that so many others had talked about in books I’d read and discussion boards I’ve visited online. Most of my experiences were fairly limited.

Many years ago when I was about 20 I read Robert Monroe’s book, Journeys Out of the Body. I tried his technique for leaving the body several times and the last time I was in my room going through the exercises when I dosed off. I woke up, what I guess, was several minutes later and I was vibrating like crazy. It was very scary as I couldn’t stop it. I even got out of bed and went in to the bathroom where I splashed cold water in my face and still I was vibrating. It lasted for several minutes. I was kind of scared to go back to sleep.

It wasn’t until after my parents died that I grew interested enough in the afterlife to spend time each day trying to experience a non physical matter reality. It took over a year to have something happen to me that gave me some kind of proof of existence beyond the physical even though I had often had dreams of dead friends and relatives. Once while meditating in the late morning I heard a voice whisper in my ears, which were blocked with ear plugs to cut down on noises. The voice simply spoke the words “you know, you know you know.” This was a proof for me. I had never heard a voice in my ears while I was fully conscious.

I now hold the belief or should I say knowledge based on my experience that each person belongs to a greater self which becomes evident when we realize that this world is illusionary. In fact all worlds are created within consciousness and are therefore virtual realities. The world in which our dreams take place is just as real as this one even though it is fleeting upon awakening. Reality Frames are highly numerous, but we have only the experience of this one which we all seemingly share unless we can gain control of the other ones that come with sleep and meditation.

Do others have the same consciousness as me? I don’t know. I can only go by the evidence and say they do even though there is no separation between us when we are not confined by the love of a body. The body is illusion just as the world is such. The body is an entertainment. Our existence here is a game of hide and seek. We are seeking and the while we are hiding. Whatever we do we do it to ourselves. Existence is a multi dimensional happening. The sooner we figure out what we are here to learn or enjoy the sooner we can move the experience along and get to the gravy.

I frequently do things to test this environment. I do what would be considered the “right” thing and I do what most would consider the “wrong” thing to see what the truth really is. The universe is not punishing me ...I am, the universe. I am separated from all of myself in one sense and completely whole unto all that is in another. To many this idea will seem grandiose, but it is actually a very infinitesimal concept. There is only one thing and all of it must return to itself, but because of the multi dimensions there is an illusion of separation. Each person upon the earth is a different dimension of the whole or everything. The dimensions keep the sides from touching within consciousness, but when the whole thing folds back on itself the dimensions disappear and the greatest strength ever known becomes fundamental. Just as in earthly life the idea that one can work for one’s self or one can choose to work for another so it is with spiritual growth. I can work within the parameters of what appears to be “right” choices or I can venture out on my own and find answers that give me a true satisfaction.

Growth isn’t paint by numbers. Experience will always be the best teacher. I find that the golden rule always applies. If I don’t abide by it then I am wronging myself as well as clouding the only means I have of judging my life. Shit happens no matter what, but the way we look upon said shit is what really counts. I’m not an amazing person. I have done very little with my life short of examine it. Sometimes I have aspirations of holding things up to the microscope to see if reality holds up on further scrutiny and other times I merely wish to find my own answers but avoid sharing the ideas that come my way with anyone for fear of pulling them off their chosen path.

The world is a wonderland and the body is within the world. Yes, John Mayer, the body is a wonderland.
