I had never heard of Dr. Wickland so I looked up some info. It was interesting. according to what I found, he was a psychiatrist who lived 1861 to 1945. He wrote
Thirty Years Among the Dead in 1924, which was less than 30 yrs after he graduated from med school, so I guess he started this before med school, but he was in his 30's when he went. He worked with people whose mental illness was supposedly due to some kind of influence from discarnate spirit entities.
So the discarnate entities were supposedly folks who didn't "get it" that they died and were possessing someone on earthside. Somehow Dr. Wickland applied static electricity to the possessed person and somehow this facilitated the entitiy's moving to his wife. Mrs. Wickland was some kind of sensitive. Then the team could step in and convince the entity he/she now resided on the other side and could move on. Mrs. Wickland was apparently no worse for the wear.

Well I'm not sure Bob needs any of this but it is interesting. This was at least 75 years ago.
