I've read Life After Life and I think it is fair in it's study of the NDE. However, NDE's which involve verifiable information are few and far between and are often very hard to scientifically verify.
For instance, some of these supposed verifications involve the doctors saying or doing something while the person is clinically dead. Unfortunately, it is impossible to prove that the person is somehow able to experience these audible or psychical actions while clinically dead through some non-understood psychical means and it is further possible the entire story is fabricated somehow.
Without a true laboratory clinical study, in which we purposely flatline patients/subjects (yes, like the flatliners movie but more scientific and realistic.) we will never be able to provide solid scientific proof.
However, if we begin fully recorded, closed, controlled flat line experiments, NDE's may some day be scientifically provable! Let's keep our fingers crossed. Man kind has shown many advancements over the ages in medicine, so an experiment of this kind may be possible!
