asking why
Feb 2nd, 2011 at 7:36am

Sometimes people ask why. Why does this happen, why does that happen? For instance, my dreams lately have been full of 'uncomfortable images' which I try to avoid remembering. But, for whatever reason, I must remember. We change. The past gets pushed aside, and yet we need it.

I am riding an electric scooter. It is night. There is a woman on a bicycle behind me. I reach an intersection and turn, almost blindly, as I realize my sight is so bad now that I can barely see. I am squinting, and I keep going.

I am trying to get my scooter across a torn up portion of road. There are huge mounds of dirt built up along the sides, and it is chaotic looking, but I must cross the 'street' and get up the very hilly side to where people are walking along small 'trails'. I begin to try this daunting task and am joined by some other women.

I must carry a woman over. There is no scooter anymore. I am picking my way across the water. Water is getting in my shoes. I am mad that water is soaking my shoes, but I continue carrying the woman. As I reach the edge of the water I see a fat green bird splashing there, in the sunshine, gleaming and preening and splashing. It is alone, small, very round, shining in the sunlight.

I am continuing along the high bank above. The trail is narrow and there are lots of people on it. There is a 'fence' confining us on this very 'unsteady' trail, at quite a height. It has thorns on it. It is not barbed wire. It is made of long twisted garlands of thorned stems. At every step I must take hold of the stems to balance myself and there is a large thorn about every half a foot. Because the people are moving as quickly as they can, I must also do so. I accept the thorns, and I realize there is no pain.

I wake later with an image in my mind. It is a big round orange. It looks beautiful, ready to eat. It is shining in its own perfection.

Is it necessary to ask why? Is it necessary to change anything to make my 'way' easier? Perhaps it is our imagination that gives life to the 'things' in our life. Perhaps our 'story' is all that matters. What will we make of it?

Some parts of our minds may only have as much awareness as a small animal, but they make excellent artists. Smiley

Whether life is easy or hard for us depends more on our attitude, beliefs, and perspectives than just purely the circumstances we experience.  It's meant to be difficult only in the sense that suffering is the catalyst for us finally and deeply choose the ways of living which does not beget it anymore (it is also the fire that purifies us by melting out the dross).  Once it has served it's purpose, what need is there anymore for it?  A different kind of suffering remains though, because now we can truly feel others suffering, and if there wasn't a desire for change sparked by that, i would question about the beliefs one has and path one is on.

Acceptance is a very good start and an important balance in all this.  It is the Yin side.  It is the Water within and without.  Yet it can become over emphasized.  We can start to become too passive or easily influenced by forces more focused than us.

The desire for change, for improvement, and the will and energy to work towards same, is the Yang side (it is the Fire within and without), just as necessary and important as the Yin, but again it's the balance which is truly important.

Different people, different circumstances, different times in our lives require different proportions of same to facilitate/awaken that all important and necessary balance.

Again i remind you that like attracts, begets, likes, and perceives like.  Those who tend towards the Yin imbalance often find fault with the Yang, and put the more purely Yin ways on a pedestal not realizing that they should instead merge it with the Yang, and vice versa with those who tend towards the Yang imbalance.

A question:  Do you remember if your eyesight started to improve once you got off the scooter and started to make your way by walking and more specifically when you started to carry a woman over and also when you were walking the more difficult and thorn lined trail path?

It's easy to ride a scooter in the sense that it requires little work and energy on our part.  But were you not striving and pushing yourself more so when it came to walking the difficult path, always trying to keep your balance?

Anyways, i think the dream bodes very well for you, and that difficult but very helpful and necessary changes are coming along your path, and that you will be getting off the scooter and onto to the true path which requires attuning to a greater degree of balance to walk.  But your dream is also trying to tell you that while acceptance and letting oneself be led is part of this transformation, so isn't focus, will, work, and active change; the Yang side, is more important for you to attune more to in order to fulfill this transformation.

So, it's nots so much about making your way easier, as it is about making the necessary changes in your life and/or in yourself that will facilitate this unfolding and greater attunement to Source.  But i think you will find that this will make things easier in the internal sense at least.  You will be better able to face with greater equilibrium and less suffering those challenges and difficulties.  You've cried so many tears, and your heart has felt so broken at times, but soon will come a time when your tears will be more so tears of joy or of compassion.

If i may make a suggestion, one which has helped me a lot along this path in life.  Try asking for help from that Being who has been called the ArchAngel Michael.  He/It will shield you from influences which can hinder and which whisper false beliefs and perspectives into our ears.  Also, being very attuned to the Yang aspect of Source, perhaps He can help facilitate a greater merging of same into you.

You're sensitive, you're open, impressionable, you can listen more deeply, that is one of your great and beautiful strengths but it also makes it easier for you to be influenced--especially when self is feeling more imbalanced or is less PUL attuned than the norm.

Anyways, for what it's worth, this has helped me a lot in life, which is why i recommend it to you now.  I know it sounds a bit silly and religious like, but maybe it's worth a try.

Thank you for your reply, Justin. And a thoughtful one at that.

Yes, my eyesight, in answer to your question, improved after the scooter was 'removed' from the dream. As a matter of fact, the next sequence was within light. My vision came especially into focus as I looked down at my shoes, and then at the colorful bird.

On the path above, I recall no longer 'carrying' anyone, but being on the 'path' with others. The thorns were difficult to ignore, impossible, and yet there was no pain to fear, as it happened.

Then, the beautiful fruit...of my labor....? Or that of the all?

Just fanciful thinking on my part. I enjoyed the reply.

PauliEffectt, yes. It is the simple things. Thank you for your reply. In the orange, I see the sun, the light which played upon the bird's shining feathers. It is all good.

hi b2
I feel you were struggling with the water as the one thing spirit cannot do is cross over water, your dream seems that somewhere you are struggling with something in your life.Ifeel your trying to help someone in your life at the moment

I beleive that our dreams are perceptions of events in our life

Thank you for your reply, Juditha, yes I am trying to adopt new attitudes in life, to be more accepting and helpful, to myself as well as others. Of course, there is not always just one way to do a thing, and I still consider my life a great big experiment. I wonder why spirits have trouble crossing water? I do know it takes many shapes and behaviors in my dreams which are unexpected. Perhaps it is instinctive to be cautious regarding water, as a species adaptation, and it carries over into our spirit world sometimes. I'm sure that those who are good swimmers and who practice often have less caution in their dreams, but that is my guess. Yes, I am trying to help several people by embracing a more stable personality lately, but I still certainly have some quirks...and I wouldn't actually like to give that all up to become some kind of robot. So, perhaps embrace who you are too, and walk in peace, kindness, compassion...and see how things go. Your inner life can be still as you like, but life is for living, so never forget to be you. Just my 2 cents,  always good to see you here.
