Sleep paralysis & my "rainbow hand"

Hello everyone,

I had an episode of sleep paralysis during my nap this afternoon, and saw something interesting, I'm intrigued to find out what it is, could anyone help? As I am mostly a newbie to all this, it may be something quite obvious to those of you (and I know there are many indeed amongst you) who are adepts.

I occasionally get sleep paralysis, and when I do, I usually move my fingers first to get back "into" my physical body.

I have noticed for sometime now, that when I move my hands, I see moving shadows. Those shadows move in the exact same way as I am moving my hands (though my physical body is totally paralysed). But I was never totally sure if they were my "spirit" hands or whether it was a figment of my imagination.

Today I managed to free my right hand and had a better look. I could see the shape of my hand, even up to my individual fingers. It was a dark-greyish colour, and surrounding my hand, especially the outline, it I noticed sparkling rainbow colours. It was beautiful!

Encouraged, I even lifted my left hand, and then managed to sit up. I could see my viewpoint changing as I did. But it took quite a bit of effort, and I fell back unconscious for a while, before I woke up.

Is this my etheric body? Which "plane" of existence is this? Am I viewing this through my "spirit" eyes? Why is it so difficult to stay conscious? I am fascinated.

My only OBE happened about fourteen years ago, and I sprung instantly (and with full consciousness) into what I was told (with thanks to Bets!) was my causal body - a ball of light moving rapidly down a tunnel.

Would love to hear if anyone who can throw some light on this!

Hi Elanor,
I on my part haven't seen what you've seen when I had been in the same situation, my body was sound asleep yet "I" became conscious, with much effort I felt like moving my head so that I could look on my body, and when I tried really hard to move my left leg it deformed, bent upwards at one spot. Then I knew my body was still sleeping, and I laid back, closed my eyes (nonphysically) and then woke up normal from a deep (at least body-wise) sleep.

But regarding what you told about the gray substance with the colorful shine at it's outlines I've often found this in literature about OBEs, and most would say that what you saw is your "etheric" body, or vital body, it's the aspect of the nonphysical which is closest to the physical. The rainbow colors you saw might be the same what some sensitive people see when they talk about the "aura".

Hi Spooky and Seraphis,

Thank you for your replies! The etheric body still feels fairly dense and heavy, compared with my OBE experience. The "ball of light" that I mentioned I was, was entirely weightless, and I felt more alert and energetic, than I have ever felt in my human body.

I'll search for the Mulldoon book, so far I've only found Amazon previews of it.

Maybe I'm being 'shown' a bit more these few days as I have been praying hard for my pet hamster Piggles, who is nearing the end of his long hamster life. Perhaps it's to remind me not to despair, and that there is an afterlife...

Please, for those of you who read this, if you could spare a second, please say a prayer for Piggles. Thank you so much, I appreciate it more than I can say.
