Hi Judy, I am sorry you are so sad. Have you ever tried meditating with pre-recorded cd's before you go to sleep, to re-orient your thinking patterns? You could even make one yourself, which contains the thoughts and feelings you want to feel more often, or work with a friend or your counselor to compose one. You could add any music you like, to help you drift off to sleep. While you sleep, your mind can work with these repeated thought patterns to help reduce your distress. There are many of these sold online, and you can choose the subjects that you like, the support that you like. Kind of like changing your outfit. Sometimes it's nice to have a change. Otherwise, you can focus on poems and art and humor, or other subjects which bring more joy into your life. It is about practicing positive feelings, so that you feel confident that you can always recapture these good feelings when you want them. Now, I am not saying that you will not have difficulty listening or focusing when you are feeling especially sad or angry, but you may find that they help anyway. There are beautiful places that you can go in your mind, anytime that you choose. Other people have created them for you, and they are waiting for you to explore them, in your own way. You may find that such aids help you, and are worth taking the time to use. For myself, it is very empowering to know that I have tools at my side which I can use at any time to feel better, to try a new way of looking at things, to use my imagination, to feel better and to learn new things. I agree that you have a purpose here on this earth, and you are wise to know that, and to stay strong.
Lots of love.
