Nanner,
I will answer your question with a personal experience...I cannot say how widespread experiences like mine have been, but I do not question the validity of the akashic record readings I have received. My questions revolved around a relationship with a woman and I sought the reasons for the effects she had on my current life. The answers I received were consistent between all the nine readers I consulted, subject to the reader's perception of what they were viewing.
The point of my inquiry was about the last life I had with this woman. Our just passed relationship in this life was subject to some level of anger she held toward me which ultimately tore us apart. From each of the akashic readers I was told I had been her beloved brother killed in a car accident as a young man, and the source of her anger stemmed from that car crash in the 1900's in the northeast...she still carries some of the ego from that past life based on my "abandonment" of her for the remainder of that life. Each reader provided a slightly different viewpoint of the same fact scenario, changes evident in only their personal perspective. The ages, dates and location varied slightly (anywhere from "teeneger" to "young adult", "late 1800's" to "1905", "New England" to "northeast", and only one ventured a name...slightly off although same basic sound) I had enough facts to research the accident and found a detailed article of it in the New York Times.
My research was not done through a level of scientific scrutiny which would meet Don's stringent requirements, for as long as what I am being told feels right I usually will not reject it outright, preferring to see how it fits in my personal belief set. However, for this particular question I did go out of my way not to tip my hand...I simply requested information on my last life with her and the source of her current underlying anger towards me. The resultant answers exhibited a consistency I would not have expected from readers distributed amongst the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Illinois, North Carolina, New Jersey and New York. The akashic records, in this case, were reliable enough to enable me to identify the individual I was over a century ago, locate a newspaper article on the accident in which I died, and to explain the source of a relationship difficulty I experienced in this lifetime.
As for what the akashic records "are", I cannot say, but Bruce's statements regarding the conscious connection of all things certainly feels right and warm to me.
I hope this helps.
