Rebecca Junior Member Offline Posts: 83 USA Gender:	HELP! Mar 15^th, 2010 at 12:25pm I have a friend that has complained about noises coming from her attic. There isn't a day that goes by that the inhabitants of the house don't here the noises (sounds like the dragging of heavy objects). Is there anyone here that can see who might be hanging out at her house? I know she would really appreciate the effort! Thanks.

Some people will put traps (humane or otherwise) up in the attic. Occasionally a squirrel, possum, or other unexpected creature finds a small opening. Its worth checking out. Matthew

She's had all sorts of people up there to check it out and nothing has been discovered. She's afraid to remodel her third floor because of this "thing." Now when they hear the noises, they just say, "there's the ghost again!"

She's not necessarily afraid, but she doesn't want to remodel her third floor just in case it might upset whoever or whatever is up there. So far, nothing has happened to any family member or guest.

I will say this, there is a lot of chemical use (alcohol and pot) in the house. I know none of the family members are hallucinating, but maybe the chemical use has something to do with it? I don't know...I'd just like someone to check it out for her.

There are people here who can do that. And there is another forum which might be helpful to you. There is no need for her to get too stressed out about it. I don't have the link handy, but someone from that forum might be around, and they have experience in that area.

Regarding the substances in the house, they could explain some of her hesitation. Perhaps, in more ways than one.

Well, I am not an expert, but regular substance abuse affects every area of a person's life. There may be many insecurities in a household such as this... a certain lack of structure, difficulty following through with decisions, a lack of focus. Additionally, any kind of change is stressful, to those who are dependent in such a way. The people that come in and out of such a household may not always be serving the best interests of this family.

I am not accusing, blaming, or even judging the harmless use of any substance whatsoever. It's just something to think about.

Anyone could easily alert the authorities and create a real mess for your friend. None of my business, but if I were you, I'd delete/amend the posts. Her name and city is not relevant to the situation anyway. R

A number of sources say that earth bound spirits attach to people who use drugs and alcohol on a frequent basis.

This being the case, if they really want to get rid of an annoying presence, they might want to stop using drugs and alcohol.

If drug and alcohol usage is the reason they are having problems, other measures will be a temporary remedy if at all.

If they don't buy into the drug/alcohol/earthbound spirit connection, you might want to suggest that they read George Ritchie's return to tomorrow. Or suggest that they google "earthbound spirit" and "alcoholism" and see what they find.
