Matthew,

From my point of view consciousness is thought, and I'm not quite sure how to get a mechanical machine to "tune in" to thought.  Clearly our consciousness attaches to our brain/body in the physical.

Yes, consciousness is connected to the physical body and can directly influence certain physical body "electrical properties"  such as electrical skin resistance, accupuncture point electrical resistance and skin potential voltages.  It is also known that body voltages operate within various frequency bands.  The work of Dr Valerie Hunt demonstrates this and quantifies the various frequency bands in the human body's electric field.  Her work went further, and pointed to a critical piece of information.  Dr Hunt was able to correlate the aura colors (as viewed by a clairvoyant) with the body's electrical signal frequencies (as measured by electronic means).  Her work demonstrated a one-for-one correspondence between specific frequencies and specific colors.

Development work on the Nimbus device has already demonstrated that the human aura, and hence electrical charactistics of the physical body, can be influenced nonphysically.  So, the critical factor is to understand that the electrical properties of the physical body can act as a transducer between nonphysical and physical realities.  In short, the human body can be used as the "antenna" in such a communication device.

The two way theory of all this intrigues me as well.  Some say that it is much easier for a discarnate spirit to hear our words and thoughts with ease than vice versa.  So would a two way device even be needed?  We may be able to simply ask a question in our minds and out of thin air, and then have the disembodied consciousness manipulate the sound on our white noise machine to give an answer.

When I said "two way" I neglected to add "real-time" to the topic of using the device in a conversation.  You are correct in my view, no device is needed for nonphysicals to 'hear' what we say.  The thing that is intended to separate the Nimbus device from standard EVP devices is that we experience a real-time conversation.  Typically, in EVP techiques, the nonphysical side of any conversation is captured on a recorder and only heard during playback of the recording.  And, typically, EVP techniques result in short, barely discernable words or phrases separated by long periods of nothing.  The Nimbus device is intended to allow more normal conversation like you would experience using a telephone.

I do think any device would work best for the recently deceased, and that deception and interaction with fakers might be an issue to contend with too.

Which group amongst the deceased is best suited for use of the device remains to be seen with testing.  The issue of potential "fakers" is subject to the same testing.  I expected it will be at least at the level of what we experience in the physical world when the phone rings an the person on the line claims to be someone you know.  Suffice it to say that at this point in the development I would be very happy to be having the problem of discerning whose voice is coming from the device.

I use a amagenary phone,in that I say I am calling the spirit world, and that I want to contact someone who I know who has past over.I pretend the phone is ringing 4 times.that I pretend someone picks up the phone and says hello.I then ask who am I talking to.and take the first name that comes to mind, and its always somebody that I knew who is dead.I have done this many, and I never get a name who is alive.at one time I thought I did,his name was jim L,but I asked around and was told the he had a son with that same name.George
