notification button

hi Allen, can u tell me what reason is the notification button on this board?
I clicked on it and a bunch of topics came up asking me if I wished to remove getting responses from those topic; (not necessarily) and my objective is to receive notification of topics I am on, which as you know sometimes (like recently) I do not receive notices when there are responses.

once I used update session button and it worked. now I can't find the session button..hmm..now where did I put it?  Smiley   btw, I always check the little box to be notified of responses, so thats not my problem.

I am assuming older macs (2003) is the problem. I still say the internet belongs to PCs. whaaa

The Board keeps track of what Forums/Topics you want to be notified on.  The "Notification" button is for maintenance of these saved notifications.  So, if you don't want to be notified anymore on something you can use this button to remove the notification.

You should only see the "Update Session" button if your session has expired or become invalid.  I think this happens a lot if you come in from two different computers or your IP address changes via dialup or your ISP uses a rotating IP proxy.

thanks Allan, I am getting replies again, I think that on some topics I forget to check the notify me, and that may be why I didn't recieve replies from particular threads.
and yes, the session update won't appear unless I use a different computer.

I didn't know we had the option of checking a box to not receive replies that we used to receive, thats an unusual feature to have, glad to know it's there. thanks for your response, alysia

I am not getting replies in my email from posts I'm associated with and I haven't for about 6 months at least. Is it me? Or have we stopped sending those out?

Hi Beau,

You may want to check this thread out, if you haven't already:

http://afterlife-knowledge.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1252835698

Specifically, check these settings in your profile:

Quote:
Click the "User CP" tab in the top menu.
Click the "Profile" tab.
Click "Options"
Enter your password.
Then, on the right, scroll down until you see "Post and Board Notifications".  There is drop-down select field to choose "Yes" after "Notify me of new Notifications by eMail?".

Hopefully, changing these settings will get your notifications working again.
