This issue can be really confusing and it is hard to say what's going on for any one particular person.
I've gone through a lot of energetic work, and when this happens all kinds of things can be experienced in a place like our third eye.
There were occasions where I couldn't tell if an unfriendly spirit was involved. During times like this, I would have to recall how it is certain that I have made contact with light beings, and they have let me know that I'm safe.
After I had the visitacion by Christ I've shared before, the time where my energetic system was worked on for about 15 minutes, I had follow up experiences where it felt like my head would come off as energy pushed up towards my crown chakra. Initially, as such an experience would take place, I would mentally communicate to the light beings I'm connected to and tell them, "Boy I'm having a lot of faith in you now, because I'm not certain about what's going on."
After a while, after I realized that such sessions ended with my awareness expanding and feelings of peace and love, nothing bad ever happened, and my energy became more balanced and clear in my upper chakras, I knew that I didn't have to worry.
These really intense sessions with the accompanying "my head is going to be ripped of sensation" don't take place like they used to. I figure what needed to be accomplished was mostly accomplished.
All I can say, is that if one is going to receive energetic work from ones spirit friends, one needs to establish a way to become certain that one is in fact communicating with beings who represent the light. One needs to be at a point where one is able to really scrutinize the beings one has made contact with.
I'd say it is automatic that people make contact with beings who represent the light, but there are occasions in which people are fooled. One key is to make certain that we make contact for pure reasons, rather than reasons that relate to personal ambition. Personal ambition might cause us to engage in rationalizations that cause us to justify things we shouldn't justify.
