Beatles song "Across the Universe"
Feb 13th, 2008 at 11:42am

Words are flying out like
endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
are drifting through my open mind
possessing and caressing me

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which
dance before me like a million eyes
that call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as
they make their way across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of life
are ringing through my open ears
exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which
shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva

That's some beautiful lyrics. And the song is amazing. I'm a huuuuge Beatles fan, but I do not yet own 'Let It Be', because as a whole the album can't compare to what came before. But 'Across the Universe', now that's something special. It's also one of John Lennon's very favourite lyrics that he wrote himself. Smiley

I'd like to be, under the sea, in an octopusses garden, in the shade.
He'd let us in, knows where we been
In an octopusses garden, in the shade.

la la la la blink, anybody, whats the rest of the verse, do u think this place exists?

Blink,

I have always loved this song.  Beautiful melody.  It was funny, George Harrison was the "spiritual" Beatle, yet Lennon wrote this song.  It is absolutely wonderful, perfect in its original recording, and i miss this kind of creative musicianship.

Beatles are before my time... they have some great hits and they changed the course of music in an amazing way... but.... this song really didn't do it for me.   Undecided

If I was head of NASA we wouldn't beam a song to a star... we would beam a song to a possible habited planet instead which seems to make more sense.... and I think I would have picked a different song.

How about Pink Floyd: Is there anybody out there? (Just because of the lyrics.)
Or the Star wars theme for no particular reason except Star Wars rocks.  Grin

Hi Blink  I have to say that my favorite beatles song is "HEY JUDE" but my second one would be "MY SWEET LORD" and my third is "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE".

I just saw the movie musical named after this song, and centered around all Beatles songs.   I thought it was pretty cool and well done overall.   Had some pretty strong anti-war messages in it, for sure, which is maybe why it wasn't more well received by the critics?

I'm really surprised they didn't put "Help" in there.

For you, Justin:

Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me.

And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I've never done before.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh.
