Suzanne Pleshette

From the Ann Althaus Blog:

http://althouse.blogspot.com/

Well, then, may Suzanne Pleshette wake up next to God.

Arguably Ms. Pleshette’s most memorable television moment was not in “The Bob Newhart Show” but in the final episode of “Newhart.” On May 21, 1990, Mr. Newhart’s character, Dick Loudon, was hit in the head by a golf ball and woke up to find himself in Dr. Robert Hartley’s bed, with his beautiful, unfailingly sane wife, Emily, at his side. The whole second sitcom had been a nightmare.

The episode was considered one of the most successful series finales in television history, partly because it managed to remain a secret until it was broadcast. As time passed, some found the scene a useful metaphor for hopes that a difficult situation might turn out to be just a bad dream. In 1999, a headline in the humor publication The Onion read, “Universe Ends as God Wakes Up Next to Suzanne Pleshette.”
And here's the original Onion squib:

The 15-billion-year-old universe came to a surprise-twist end Tuesday, when God woke up next to actress Suzanne Pleshette. "What a crazy dream I just had," God said to Pleshette at the conclusion of the popular, long-running universe. "I was the Creator of all things, I had this crazy Son who was always getting arrested and wouldn't get a haircut, and My children were always hurting and killing each other in My name." Pleshette reassured God that He had imagined the whole thing and urged the beleaguered, well-intentioned deity to go back to sleep.

Thank you for starting a tribute to Suzanne Pleshette, REI.

She is an idol for me, in the wonderful way she combined her
humor with her beauty.

Bless you, Suzanne Pleshette !

Bets

What is your point?

The topic was not about favorite comedians.

It was about Suzanne Pleshette's most memorable moment on television.

In fact is was and still is one of the most classic events in TV history.

What!?....Who's Suzanne Pleshette?...Google tells me she was a B-Grade Hollywood
actress from the 1960's. 'Famous' for her 60's surf movies and Disney kid's stuff. Oh. She
was a mousekateer? TV kid from the 1950's-60's....You must be a member of her fan
club....People(Americans) over 65 usually appreciate her....My Condolences, Dood!..Lars

I didn't know Suzanne was a mouseketeer! neat!  I do remember Bob Newhart, because his face and mannerisms so remind me of Mike, my hubby gone on in 1983. It was extraordinary resemblance, even his tone of voice similar. freaked me out!

too bad I missed that episode Rei, but it must have been the best one of all! love, alysia

So you want to play the insult game eh?

What does my age have do do with anything?

Oh wait...it does' I have had a little bit more experience then you.

The whole point of the thread was about the Bob Newhart Show and Suzanne Pleshette's most memorable moment on TV.

Why is that so hard for YOU to understand?

Oh wait...I know.  Your EGO needs a feeding.  I get it.
You will not get that from me.
Might as well go somewhere else to 'feed'.

Dood, u are an enlightening Dood to me, my opinion. you teach me things, and I thought I knew it all. ever since u got here, I too, have been wondering "what kind of hell is this?"

thanks for showing me your honesty and your intentions here are straightforward, and I don't think you even need my strokes, but I just felt like saying it.
if we are the children of god, and I don't see why we wouldn't be, then we're going to bring heaven to earth. I don't think I am reaching too high.
then we will know what kind of heaven is this too!

now I know why I like that icon so much, its because I have a logo I used on my other profile, says "Yay, tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil for I was trained there."  thats about it in a nutshell.

then I look back over my 61 years Lars, I'm friggin old!!! eeeeeeehaaaaaaa!!
and its great to be this old and still looking good....so I remember these old TV sets we had were round screens, no table models. yea, I'm that old.
but old is great because it's wiser and less insulting too.

being this old I think I've been through some hells, I'm so proud of myself I'm still alive because life is dangerous if u think about it some.

but we got each other and everybody is gonna get older, its not a fearsome thing.

hugs, I forgive you Lars, it was probably a slip of the tongue you're sorry for.
