sketches for a rote
Jan 13th, 2008 at 12:11pm

a very dense train of thouhgts kept assailing meditation this morning
at one point I had to take the decision to relax
concentrate on breathing
which was starting to contract in the lower abdomen
and simply make reminders for the moment
said to my self:

ok,
so thoughts keep popping on and chaining together
I'll take note of them and promise not to forget
and put them aside for now,
in that new drawer I just made
for further treatment
but mind has got to quiet first
...

soft technology
purification
affirmation -> refuge

...
thoughts are voidness
they come from voidness
and return to voidness as you let them float by

thoughts are no different than your own mind
yet you can't reduce the mind to a thought
or can we? (in the eleventh dimension?)

I once had that vision that learning to practice a saddhana
was like installing an Operating System on a computer
without the OS your computer is of not much use
as like, you inherited of an operating system
but no one really told you that it was so

or you didn't want to know
or you only knew partially,
using the most handy functions that you learned intuitively
the user-friendly ones,
that helped you obtain what you so much desired in the material world
but how much do we use of the OS on a current basis
(and is that OS the most appropriate to our uses? but that's another question)

technology
the greeks made up that word, combining the meaning of techne:craft and logia:saying
first used to point mostly to machines or machine systems (hard-technology)
it later proved useful to describe
the use we have of strategies or problem-solving methods (soft-technology)
soft technology has also evolved as information-technology

so
at one point,
one can understand in the various processes used through meditation
and especially the visualisation of the tantric grounds and paths
such use of a soft technology

it that aspect,
no judgement applies on wether or not technology is re-gressive or pro to human evolution

...
Terma
through the tibetan buddhism history,
an important number of teachers have hidden messages in texts
and texts in different hidden places
to be discovered by a terton at an auspicious time
keys to discover the messages were sometimes delivered through dreams or insights
so what were these people exploring the afterlife for?

Sometimes, as we read a book, words seem to become alive,
talking, it seems, directly to us, delivering more
than what their casual sentence driven order offers
sketching various levels of hidden meanings
intricately weaven through the loom
and you suddenly feel connected
enlightenned

those treasures were called termas
maybe the ground for such termas now is here
as our books become threads woven by one and another

and the meaning gets burried as before,
under the proliferation of intents
until you get a light

synchronicity
overwhelming the quantity of help received on the board
when keeping the opening, not contracting, having no preconceptions no longings...
the only fulfilment of joy expanding as a gauge...

and the answer is often not only in the words used
ideas unfolding simultaneously each one at it's own pace
jumping from one dimension to another as they surf the threads

the synchronicity of having suddenly an old friend on the phone,
understanding afterwards that the message he was delivering
was not the one he thought

praise the use for a joy expanding gauge
or is downright fun a synonym for joy?

...
you might call it spirituality for the moment
or spiritual quest, or afterlife exploration
or whatever, for fear of using too connetated words
until one day it's own meaning being contaminated
one other would think of post-modern religiosity Smiley
they are only tags anyway meant to be removed
prior to access content

...
I discovered Bruce's books in a similar way as he discovered Monroe's. Visiting my usual used books library, saw the serie's title "Exploring the AfterLife" once thinking: another book about life after death... ) At my next visit the book was still there and I wondered if it understood the buddhist's approach of beeing only a state of beeing... It's only at the third encounter that the book followed me and brought me (via internet) to discover MI and Robert Monroe's books. That's where I finally learned that what I had experienced at various occasions previously was not a pathology, it had been explored and documented, and others were living it also...

...
I left the buddhist community with whom I was tryng to melt, telling them that I finally understood. I told them that books talked to me. Left the community but not the technology. Simply had to enlarge the scope of the embraceable. It was like a signal coming from inside.

That's when I found the Gateway Affirmation
I liked it immediately
Learned it by heart so I could use it anywhere
those kind of luggages are the one I'm trying to get more of these days
and it found a place in that inside room I have (not many people know about that room)
just beside the taking refuge affirmation

and one day I couldn't escape from dressing the equation:
let's say Buddha is your mind,
the Dharmah is the operating system,
and the sangha the community of users

see it?
when affirming that you are more than your physical body
you acknowlege the presence of the mind
when saying that you want to expand, explore, understand... the use of the OS
when you have in mind those who follow you (mahayanna)
and ask the help, guidance and protection of those whose wisdom... you are in the sangha

and to me it all made sense

one could say that those are only beliefs
and to rely on facts is more accurate
but when does a belief become a fact?
if all is voidness, quanta particles dancing all over the place
and Ken Wilber reminds you of Descarte's mistake and of the three eyes of the soul
...

thanks Bruce for the opportunity of sharing it all

the relief of a B7 to Em chord

focus on the moment
getting inside while it slowly dissolves
becomes infinity
a road to enlightment

you never really get enlightenned
rather the other way around,
enlightenment gets you
once you have submitted your self to purification
progressively revealing your inner-self
as the former lessens, becomes thinner
stretches toward transparency

thank you Jazel for your thoughtful words and that lovely pink world icon.

have you ever been holding a book in your hands and reading a paragraph you read something that resonated so deeply you looked up from the book for a minute just letting it soak into your being in gratitude, and then you sat there for awhile and looked at the clock and an hour and a half had gone by while you were on the same page, but you knew you had made the most tremendous progress?

seems like you might know what I'm talking about.  Smiley

Here's some more thanks, Jazel  Smiley

Your way of communicating and your involvement with words' meanings is so very refreshing!
For one example, I knew there must be a term for phrases that ignite our spirits with spiritual energy and newly revealed meaning, but I certainly didn't know the term was 'terma.'  Smiley  My soul has found alot of termas right here on this website !

Using new technology for analogies for spiritual processes is also very helpful. I'm going to put yur post out where my husband can find it and hope it speaks to him.

Here we frequently bemoan the need for more words and methods to explain the spiritual developments we're experiencing--- and here you are, answering that wish!

Many thanks, Betson

hmm!

i tried to fine tune here a few topics answered elsewhere
they all got forming a bundle i thought of as a rote
probably asks a bit of in-between-the-lines reading
not sure some how i effectively reached my goal but
came out that way!

that sketch is still moving
multiformed
on the workbench

though you'd like to have a look

been practicing/experiencing the rubber band effect
discovering how powerfull it could reveal itself
when opening totaly to it as a mean of awakening
to a moment-to-moment presence

or i'm just fantasizing
(which curiously gets to be the last of my worries
as a fear identifying/resolving process seems to be occuring
related i presume to a prior shouting therapy silently intented
 )

imagine rubberbanding each of your inbreadths

bringing consciously out of meditation into life activity
that precise event of the air inflow packing gently your lower abdomen
pausing just a sec ( )
then suddenly relaxing the rubber band
letting go of everything and especially
any thought of trying to
... get somewhere
... be someone
... know something
...

as the rubber band releases it's tension
in (increasingly) slow(ing) motion
as your awareness steps out of time
time revealing itself suddenly useless
(in fact time revealing it's self-nature voidness
creation of our mind driven world
       cause and effects chaining
which assures the basis of our physical relation)

and you just stand there
looking at it all detaching
taking note that in the process you survived
an awareness of it all distinguishing you and your thoughts

just accepting the beeing of the moment
and the absolute separatedness of that
in-breadth-now-becoming-outbreadth
mixing in the surrounding air
as a drop of water melting in the ocean

you can almost feel your body
way beneath you
as you become, out of surrendering
the surrounding air itself
in which that breadth is melting

drops of joy subtly forming in the gauge

to the movement

that's the lowest cycle
your direct link to life
now at the same moment, finally freed from the boundage of your body
there you stand, more that can meet the eye
if that is all true, then, rubberbanding could practiced in all of our dayly actions
forming the intention as it stretches
then letting go,
using the propulsing force to awaken to our own identification to the task
not pushing anywhere (we always mess everything up when we do!)
just beeing there
intently
behind the prior thought now rubberband propulsed through events

(hey... ever read Herrigel's Zen in the Art of Archery )

that's also part of focus 10?

now back on earth...
books also have that power
(but i think it's the other way around,
ideas, using symbols become living organisms on their own plane
and slip out of books at times when well formed
bringing an answer to a real world riddle,
problem solving, inspiring our dayly views/projects/encounters
seeds of synchronicity..
)

and then the kids get back home
your stack of ideas,
that patiently erected tower of thoughts looks suddenly annoying on the kitchen table
and you ask yourself why can't it be that it is seen by others too?
why to they have to bump in it each time it turns into form?
and there you go washing the floor spoiled by a mud paddle dripping from a rain boot
preparing lunch or doing the laundry...

Smiley

1000 thanks for those door openings
to word/ideas forming workshops!
