A Poem/Tune I like
Jan 1st, 2008 at 11:41am

Hey good morn jan.1st 2008. Now watch. I'll bet the next time I sign a check I'll forget and put 2007..wow how fast the years slip by. This morn I woke about 6am and started thinking about this tune of Dylan's. It's always been one of my favorites. You know why? Because it's really about all of us, our dual consciousness.
It has a sense of desolation to it. It reminds me of the search for love within all of us, and how our expectations of what that should look like often just doesn't happen. So then what happens is we take a walk outside and try to figure it out. Our partner appears to sleep, oblivious of our pain. We don't even want to talk of our pain, so we stuff it down, the desolation feeling. We give and give and it's never enough to make the pain go away. We become slaves to our dreams and ambitions, never for one minute admitting it's our pain that molds our future.
The punch line is heavy here; "where one's nature neither honors nor forgives."
Yes, this is mankind. Well put Bob. Very observant. Why don't we honor each other, why don't we forgive? We don't know how. We should begin now to learn how to honor each other, to forgive each other for we are only human with a memory of being divine also..we should try to remember who we are, making every effort possible towards peace in the world, within our own selves first. Then, like the lyrics, Justice's beautiful face will awaken from slumber and we will not die when we look into the face of God, blinded by truth. About that peace, we build our afterlife starting right where we are at, here and now. I always have to remind myself, as I forget.

I And I

been so long since a strange woman slept in my bed
look how sweet she sleeps, how free must be her dreams
in another life she must have owned the world or been faithfully wed
to some righteous king who wrote songs beside moonlite streams

I and I in creation where one's nature neither honors nor forgives
I and I one said to the other no man sees my face and lives

think I'll go outside for a walk
not much happening here, nothing ever does
besides if she wakes up she'll just want me to talk
I got nothing to say 'specially about whatever was

Took an untrodden path once where the swift dont win the race
it goes to the worthy who can divide the word of truth
took a stranger to teach me to look into justice's beautiful face
and see an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth

outside of two men on a train platform, theres nobody in sight
they're waiting for spring to come smokin down the track
the world could come to an end tonite but thats all right
she should still be there sleeping when I get back

noontime and I'm still pushing myself along the road, the darkest part
into the narrow lanes, I cant stumble or stay put
someone else is speaking with my mouth but I'm listening only to my heart
I've made shoes for everyone, even you and I still go barefoot

I and I, in creation where one's nature neither honors nor forgives
I and I, one said to the other no man sees my face and lives
