Old 'Cool' Dood,

Well I'm glad reading through the Archives has been an inspiration for you. So many people inspired me and I was always grateful that they had been willing to share their stuff. If Bruce had not written of his discoveries I'm sure I would still be thinking I had to experience your classic OOBE to retrieve and explore.

About getting started, have you created your own afterlife place? After reading Bruce's first book and starting on his second I decided if he could do it, so could I. I went through a short preparatory process and then decided to go to Focus 27. All I could see in my mind's eye was blackness but I didn't want a lot of doubting to get in my way, so I decided to just believe that my intention to be in F27 was my ticket to getting there. And I then remembered and brought to mind a beautiful park I visited a lot as a child. Instead of all that blackness I was then looking at that park--the trees, lawn, pond, blue sky and so on. And then I just moved into it, felt the grass on my bare feet, watched a breeze move through leaves, envisioned daffodils and then wild flowers and monkeyed around with where I wanted the sun to be.  And I visited my new place as often as possible (still do). It was kind of overwhelming for me back then, where to go in all that 'astral' or 'blackness'. My park helped me get my bearings and I had fun practicing with nonphysical senses, creating stuff. It was a good jumping off point.

Seeing faces----possibly members of your I/There, your disk? Just a guess.

Bruce teaches a technique called State Specific Memory. Charles Tart originally came up with it and I can't remember his actual wording, but in essence, if you can recall the feel of a place, a certain dream, a person...you can actually be there again, experience it or them again. With dreams, as you're waking up, see if you can hold onto how the dream feels/felt and see what happens--visualize it. People report they can go back into a dream this way. I did a few times but I really like using this technique to return to many afterlife locations while conscious and in a relaxed state. And I could never figure out how Bruce was able to remember and record so much afterlife info, from his journeys, until I started using State Specific Memory myself to recall more of what I had forgotten or been unable to bring to the front of my mind after a journey.

I love your outlook, Dood. You are so friggin' excited and rightly so. I mean it is wonderful to be able to explore and get your own proof that you are more than your physical body!

Much love,

Ginny

hi Ginny. I remember back when u were here, I built a focus 27 beach cottage where retrievers waited for guides to take them to training. thats where I met Monroe!
I wish you could give us an example of state specific memory from your storehouse?

Hope not too out of topic. Old Dood about dream recall, You have to try to remeber them immidiately after waking up. Eventually stay in bed for extra few minuts and think abouth them when you are still in a in between state. Wahat works for me is after waking up I go in the bathroom and when staying on the toilet seat Grin Roll Eyes I try to recall my dreams. It's not coming allways immediately but after a while small things popp into my mind and from there it can be unfolded.  I also found out that for me the doesn't work to think in the evening before falling asleep that I want to remember the dreams or that I want something specifically to happen in the dreams. I simply don't remember a thing in the morning no matter how hard I try. Try to observe what works for you and what doesn't

Good luck in the future on remembering  Smiley

Thanks Lia...
I understand this.
In fact I had a vivid dream last night.
It woke me up at 1:30am.
I didn't write it down because I didn't want to 'wake up' at that time.
I 'thought' I could remember it.  I remember repeating it to myself before rolling over and going back to sleep.
DOH! All I remember now is the time when I woke up and that it was a vivid dream.
I really need to go out and purchase a hand held micro-recorder.

I have trouble at times staying asleep so I don't get up and get my mind working.
Where I work at is too demanding phsyically that I need my sleep.
I am going to go to BestBuy this weekend and look at micro-recorders.

Dood,

With regard to remembering dreams,  I have had success in using the power of intent/subconscious to do so.  As you are drifting off to sleep, if you plant the idea in repetition that you will remember when you awaken -  it can help.  Similar to self-hypnosis.  You can also use this technique to wake up at a specific time in the morning.  I was initially skeptical, but my internal clock responds to this self hypnotic suggestion while I am relaxed before falling asleep.  It is a great time to state intentions/affirmations/or prayers as well.

Thanks Matthew.
I do that also. I state my intentions before sleep. My alarm goes off around 3:45am and I usually hit the snooze once.
My snooze is progamable(that is why I bought this clock..that..and it has a really BIG set of digits so I can see it without my glasses too).
I set the snooze to 15 minutes. In that time frame is my best time to 'remember'.
I also have this subliminal message program on my computer that is programable for anything I want.
I have it set to remember dreams.  It flashes for a micro second a line of a paragraph of what I want to remember.
I have no clue if it actually works.

I also stated in another thread that just today I purchased a digital hand held voice recorder.
It has a quick on then record button.  I can do it in the dark without my glasses while I am still 'sleepy'.

I am kinda excited to play with my new gadget.  Well, I am a guy and guys like gadgets don't they? Smiley
I am also going to PROVE to Mrs Dood how loud and how much she snores...hehehehehe! Marriage is FUN!

hey there Dood have to share this with you; if you are half asleep when you turn on your microphone recorder and talk into it, its really hard to talk when you're half asleep, its like a struggle to fit the words in your mind to come past the vocal cords like, pushing bricks out or something...lol...I listened to myself and I sounded like a kid, giggling and my voice was all over the place! didn't sound like me, but I know it was me, because sometimes I would still be in a dream talking with someone, responding with emotion too.

some really funny interactions happen when dreaming or even half awake. check out your voice and tell me if you notice your voice sounds somehow different. ok?

can't wait.

Ha!  I'll take snoring over mouth breathing any day!  My husband's mouth breathing, talking in his sleep, stealing my pillows, and tossing and turning every 30 minutes is why we can't sleep in the same room anymore!  I always threatened to put a video camera in there to prove to him what he does because he didn't believe me, but I never did.  So marriage is fun?  At what age does that begin cuz you're older than me so I'm still waiting.   Wink

Looking forward to your results of dream recall.

You could be my wife. She says that about me and my breathing.
I am a mouth breather.  Except she is always encroaching on my 'Territory' in bed.
I end up on the edge.  She chases me all over the bed for my 'heat'. hehe!
I snore too.  However, once I am on my side I do not. She snores on her side so I am always shoving her around.
Such abuse by me...hehe! BUT, it is ANNOYING!

Anyways, I was real excited to try out my new little toy last night.
I didn't sleep well though.  I kept waking up but, no dream recall even then.
I have a hyoper-thyroid thing going on and Iam off my meds for it.
I have a test at the end of the month and I have to be off my meds for 6 weeks.
So I am 'wired' so to speak.  Messes up my sleep patterns.
So I also believe since I was 'excited' I simply had nothing to report. <sigh>
Figures...I will see what is up this weekend.
I probably was too 'ready' to recall any dreams.
I is kinda like when you take your car into the shop and it will not do the 'thing' it does when you show it to the mechanic.
Then as you drive away it then does that 'thing' you wanted checked out...

I will get some recordings done.  Time is all it will take.

Hi LaughRain,

Regarding an example of the technique, State Specific Memory, in the Retrieval Archive scroll down to Another Trip Beyond. There are two entries with that title but the first one as you scroll down has info about using the technique and the results I got. It's like filling with PUL in that you recall a moment/feeling of love to do it. With SSM you recall/feel a certain area of consciousness you want to return to, or you can do the same with a certain afterlife journey or meeting, to actually remember more of what you experienced and learned when previously there. Am I explaining this ok?....lol. One of the best examples of this technique that helped me was from Bruce--in a relaxed state, do some daydreaming of a special place you've been to before, like say a beautiful beach at the ocean. Just pretend you're there, see it in your mind's eye, smell the salty air, feel the sun, the sand, the noisy surf. All of it adds up to a certain feeling, a feeling you can recall anytime to return there.

Do you still visit your beach cottage? My park is basically the same but I always find it fascinating when I see changes and wonder if I've done that while asleep. It remains a sanctuary for animals and wildlife, which was my Mom's idea when I encountered her there back in 2001.

Much love,

Gin

but I do want to re-read whats been written. did you go to TMI? Never been myself but you have this stuff down so good, I'm glad you can share it with us. you are one person always was right on topic.

I have never been to TMI, but I did use the institute's Gateway Wave home series tapes starting around 1989-90. Attending Bruce's workshop is what really got me going though, with retrieving and afterlife exploration.

It's getting easier for me to sit at the computer for more than 10 minutes. I'll start posting in the retrieval section soon. We'll have lots to talk about.  Hey how about the two of us meeting at The Park in F27 sometime?

Love,

Gin

You got it Ginny! F27, park, I was there with my partner, I like to go to the library, theres a park near it. also we've been doing some partnered exploration with some hits if you want to check out that thread. it was fun.
didn't know you couldn't sit for more than 10 minutes, I'll think of your healing.

I have a 7 hour workshop tape of Bruces I got from a friend. If you can start a topic for a date for us, I think Saturday would work for me, any saturday. and we could post our results, like you and Dora used to do, if thats ok. great having u back Ginny and god speed to you! alysia

The Afterlife Knowledge Guidebook...PLUS the CDs and MP3 set.
PLUS...for $5.00 more I am getting the Afterlife Bonus DVD as well.

Pretty cool eh?

Get yer 'sharpie' out Bruce and get ready to sign my book. Smiley
I figured I would order it direct from Bruce's site instead of a book store.

I should be the only 'Stephen' from Lansing in the order que I would suppose, so you can also sign it to Old Dood as well as my 'real name'.  hehe!

Hey!    Angry

I don't have the Afterlife bonus DVD.  I want one!  What's on it?  You'll have to tell us what's on there when you get it Dood!

I'm so happy you finally got the 5th book and DVD's.  What's with the MP3, is that the same as what's on the DVD's?

Oooh, you're gonna have so much fun now!
