Morning Poem

Morning Poem

Every morning
the world
is created.
Under the orange

sticks of the sun
the heaped
ashes of the night
turn into leaves again

and fasten themselves to the high branches ---
and the ponds appear
like black cloth
on which are painted islands

of summer lilies.
If it is your nature
to be happy
you will swim away along the soft trails

for hours, your imagination
alighting everywhere.
And if your spirit
carries within it

the thorn
that is heavier than lead ---
if it's all you can do
to keep on trudging ---

there is still
somewhere deep within you
a beast shouting that the earth
is exactly what it wanted ---

each pond with its blazing lilies
is a prayer heard and answered
lavishly,
every morning,

whether or not
you have ever dared to be happy,
whether or not
you have ever dared to pray.

I enjoyed your poem at 2:30 something in the morning last night when I woke up.

Beautiful, and the picture.

Here is a little poem I wrote, hmmmn, maybe 25+ years ago.

----------------

Never one, but two seeking unity
among the splinters and fragments
of crystal shell-hearts
shattered on the floor called Home and Memory,
we search for pieces still, finding between them
flowers growing, roots knotting
in our Mother Earth.

Spun of warm flesh and fear, we learn to love:
anger, instrument for violent landscapes,
becomes warmth of understanding
laughter's freedom
and the scalding tears of an opressed heart.

This singing voice alone
cannot cure a Cosmos,
but harmonies of suffering youth transformed
into a New Creation: never one,
but two seeking unity among the splinters and fragments,
heart and dream resounding.

------------

love, blink Smiley

you're pretty darn good poet Blink as I suspected all along  Smiley thanks for all your poetry you've given us.
anybody else out there care to share their poetry? you are welcome to post it.

Juditha, I was wondering where you are, I guess u r busy with your painting, glad u r not leaving us totally!  Smiley

meanwhile, speaking of right brain activities such as art and poetry and music here's a song I wrote   Smiley

I don't talk much politics
economics leaves me pale
I don't buy insurance
I'd rather go to jail

I have lost my intellect
and philosophy I can buy
I cannot read your book
and the news makes me cry

I want the light
I want the love
Its the love light that sets me free
behind the big words
I hear a haunting melody
whaddaya say we try a harmony?

so pardon my expression
cause the words can get so cheap
I could throw away everything
the love is what I'd keep

I will not provoke you
or save u from make believe sins
I'll just walk beside you
I'd like to be your friend

I've got no driving ambition
I guess you can tell
If we're not together in heaven
We'll both stay here in hell

So draw me no conclusions
they might turn out to be lies
your secrets will be safe with me
you must realize

I want the love
I want the light
It's the lovelight that sets me free.
