Please Help: OBE Hurdles
Aug 3rd, 2007 at 5:53pm

Hello Friends... old and new,

I have run into a hurdle that I know I can leap over with a little nudge in the right direction. I know that there is someone or someones here who can help me with this. Now after clearing myself of emotional blocks I am being helped by spirit to have the OBE experiences that I desire. I feel the vibrations inside and moments later a gentle lifting and rising feelilng. I then feel a barrier at the moment of departure, and sometimes my own breath as I exhale seems to weigh me down. In each case I feel myself return to my body. I am creating this hurdle myself and so I know I can leap over it with the help of the experienced open minded friends I have here.

I want to SOAR!    Please help me...

Love, Stacy

Hi Stacy, I don't do the obes but view them as like an initiation to your greater self, your greater being, or your higher self, if you want to call it that, a more all knowing self. but obes were like just the first stage of getting some sea legs so to speak.

so I can't help any to make that exit for you, as I too, always woke up in the body after each attempt. so I just concluded to relax, not be fearful and see if anything at all would happen. usually I'd just go off to sleep.
it has been noted we go out of body each night anyway and just need to start trying to remember through dreams, where we have been; this would explain a feeling of waking up and not knowing how you got to that location within dreamscape.

you probably have a guide or two, maybe you will be one of the few who can do this successfully and consciously in time. however, there are other techniques to get to the same place.

if I had any advice, I know how much fun it is, I know you think something must be wrong that you don't lift out. just relax, Idon't think there is something wrong, I think you are just beginning.

some obers will say to imagine a rope to pull yourself with. you could try that if you want and see what happens.

another technique to be lucid is to be consciously aware every moment of the day, like very observant of each room you are in, it impresses upon you the feelings of conscious waking state versus conscious lucid obe state.

you could try different things, like imagination of walking into the kitchen in your dream body. its all experiment right now. wishing you the best, it is fun!

In my OBE a really cool thing was when I pressed my hand on a stack of papers and, after resisting at first, my hand went into it. So maybe you could keep this in mind and then move through the barrier.

Another method would be, as Alysia suggested, to have a place in mind you'd like to go to, don't think too much how exactly you move to this place, but rather "teleport" to it, so you would just skip the barrier. I don't have frequently OBEs, but on mind-journeys something similar is happening. When I float in my mind around a certain physical place and my thoughts are wandering, for example thinking of what my final destination could be, the continuos movement breaks and I see the place I thought of, wandering thoughts destabilize it. So maybe it's similar in OBEs.

Robert Bruce wrote, once out of body, one should immediately try to move away from the physical body as there is the tendency when near to it that one gets sucked back.

Generally, what I have read is, in the first time it is very difficult to move in an OBE, because you just try to do it like in the physical, and that would be walk; the answer would be not to make movements, but simply to move to the target. Or to imagine you are a swimmer in water or a bird, so that you could push against the imagined water/air and therefore move from the rebound. The rope imagination Alysia spoke of (recommended by Robert Bruce) is as well a "solidation", to have an anchor point, in this case not for rebounding, but for pulling.

I think I've told all my stories here  Roll Eyes but Stacy one time I was trying to exit my body by pushing my energy body out through the top of my crown chakra, right, and next thing I know I was so tiny, an entity, and got stuck in my mouth and was wondering who's giant teeth I was looking at! Roll Eyes

so u can see why I don't much advocate the obe unless I was a dentist maybe. Undecided

you can practice looking at a chart of the 7 major chakras, and decide in your imagination which chakra you would like to emerge from.

my favorite by default is the one between the eyes.
and like Spooky, sometimes the whole point of an obe is to press your hand through something..its always a good high feeling to walk thru walls and such.
