Hi Blink  This song by Dire Straits called Brothers in arms. It has a lot of meaning in the words ,talks of love for our fellow man and destruction of life as well.Heres a video of the song brothers in arms.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5JkHBC5lDs

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day youll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And youll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
Ive watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

Theres so many different worlds
So many differents suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the suns gone to hell
And the moons riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But its written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
Were fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

Love and God bless      Love juditha

Through history various seers and prophets have claimed there will be some calamity or other major event (end of the world or Jesus coming back or for New Agers, the start of a new era of peace and elightenment, or perhaps open contact with aliens) on a certain date, but so far lots have come and gone with nothing special happenning. I don't see why this 2012 date should be any different

Must say I'm inclined towards the view that something is in the works by way of a change in consciousness.

More definitely that current Western economic, financial, agricultural, industrial, international, military and other models are environmentally, ecologically and socially unresourcable and unsustainable, and a reflection of an unsustainable consciousness.

That the pace of change is rapidly increasing, that the system rather like an ever more highly tuned engine is becoming ever more finely balanced between material so called 'performance' and blowing up.

That the only way out involves a rapid shift in consciousness - because without it the solutions won't even make it on to the agenda. Because at the selfish short term level they entail apparently settling for less.

The possibilities range from cataclysm to a much softer landing. I'd like to think that the current change in human consciousness will rapidly widen and accelerate to the point where the latter becomes possible....

I'm currently reading a book called '2012' by Daniel Pinchbek. The 2012 date is specifically referring to the winter/summer solistice (depending which hemisphere you live in) the end point of the Mayan Calendar, when the earth will be in alignment with the centre of the milky way galaxy. The electro magnetic fields affect our consciousness and passing through that stage we are shifting into a fifth dimensional state of consciousness. Basically from what I've read and heard on the subject, the barriers to our true nature are gradually being removed and our true potential can be realised. The catch might be and this I believe is the reason for all the doomsday and fear based side of things, that the shift in the galactic alignment will cause natural disasters, like the Asian Tsunami of 2004.

You can choose a side though. How do you want the consciousness of the planet to be, fear or love/free choice?

Anyway that's essentially the 2012 message that I uphold. Skeptics are welcome to query and I will happily debate, as I see the reasoning behind these predictions as holding alot more water than many of the doomsday prophecies and end of the world propaganda. But just say you think you can debunk all this and think its a load of bull, aren't you missing the point? The point never really was about a set of astrological events coming together to shift the consciousness of humanity, ultimately free choice will determine any real shift in consciousness. I may be preaching a bit so sorry about that but I say choose to become part of a shift and embrace love, oneness and respect the interconnectivity don't follow the path of war and destruction.

I do not believe in ends I believe in transitions

SHIFT HAPPENS

Similar to what I was saying except I focused on the emotional side of things. The status quo is not sustainable. Awareness about global warming is shifting the consciousness, globalisation despite its many pros and cons it is also part of this shift as societies become more interconnected and systems of communication allow for greater sharing of information and understanding. I have even read that the internet is a metaphor for this shifting process. The internet connects the world. Only decades ago I an Australian would never have had the opportunity to communicate with most of you due to limitations in time and space. Technology breaks down barriers but is it really the way towards truly global consciousness?

I think that if a society wants to go on repeating same mistakes over and over again to the point where it traps itself into a corner and is self destructive then it most certainly can. While I am extremely interested in the 2012 question, I am not expecting it will be as simple as 'oh its now Dec 21st 2012, we wake up in a whole new way of thinking. I hate to be a fear monger but I don't exactly disagree with the saying 'it gets worse before it gets better'. Intriguing times ahead.

basically in agreement with NSD. from a psychological perspective just want to add we will always have earthquakes, storms, world changes in the Earth, these are often events the collective has brought forth and good exit points for those leaving or transitioning.

as far as the individual goes, the collective is made up of individuals. it will be whether we react or in how we respond to these changes that makes the difference.  we should be able to not just react like in fear, somebody always needs to hold the fort down. somebody always needs to keep the home fires burning. there are many working quietly behind the lines in this way, but each individual has to come to their choices where to stand.

All of the participants in this thread have made excellent points, personal observations and expressed their beliefs most eloquently. I do believe there will be many changes from now untill 2012. Many of them will be of the most horrible kind. War, death, starvation, pestilence, to name a few. But there will also come with those things love, understanding, peace, affluence and abundance. The real changes will be which peoples will be the haves and the have nots. The cold war is starting up again with the USSR again fling their nuclear bombs overhead again. ( in the news just this week) Starvation is showing up more than ever world wide. As is disease and other "stuff". Global warming is on the minds of the masses along with the paranoia that comes with the changes it is doing to this planet. ( all of the planets are warming, not just earth so its not just humans doing the damage, like some would like you to believe). But more than any of that we have this world wide raise in spiritual awareness. As we are getting older( as a whole) we are becoming more excepting (except perhaps Don, dig ,dig, dig), loving, and more willing to do what it takes to heal the planet.(in the west that is) I think the changes comming are going to be great ones. I personally can't wait. In fact these changes almost sound like no changes. Its a great time to be apart of all these things and the people here are so much more attuned to whats going on. I am so happy to have met you all and to have your love a part of my present experience.
My love to All of You,

Joe

I echoe Joe's sentiments here and thoughts. I like this board because I grow off of the ideas expressed, they lead me into my own world of personal reality creation.

one thing I'd like to share I learned from Alan Watts a philosopher. he said an apple tree apples, the earth peoples.

I'm not an environmentalist, more of a recycler spirit who goes around tidying up, but I'm sure there are many forces at work in our world which can destruct in order to construct to new levels, so it's all like a circle of events which is on a time table since time began.
The earth crystal in the center is an energy resonator factor and the planets are involved in this shift in consciousness as this crystal realigns with certain planets, influencing our rotations and their rotations which has to do with consciousness expanding also, as planets are the bodies of beings, I know its hard to understand this, that a planet is a being of intelligence manifested as a planet, but at the same time you could say all of us are the Earth consciousness, a being in itself.
and we are as a whole becoming more conscious of our habitat and there is rude awakenings to deal with such as 9/11. most rude. but I went obe and listened to a lecturer who made me to understand the catalyst that 9/11 was for spiritual growth and change.
it wasn't that 9/11 was written in stone to occur, its just that year after year it was building towards manifestation without enough prevention employed and thats why it became shocking and rude.

you guys should have seen the millions of "us" were listening to this fellow talk, he was sincere, he was a great being. sorry I don't have a name for him, I was just part of the audience trying to get my heart mended, and he sent healing rays to the crowd.
I was made to understand we are in the midst of big changes and a lot of these people on this board and other places all over the world as groups are to help others to make it easier to shift into a new consciousness.
it has a lot to do with fellowship instead of warring practices, and we're slowly getting there.

its important where one places one's focus, as we can manifest war just as easily as we can manifest peace, as a collective.
