Hi George-
I was wondering about this kind of thing too. If I ask them people tell me that they definitely are aware of the worms in the ground eating their old body - but they don't seem to care. Most of them are like the soldier in our Civil War who looked out from behind a tree and caught as .76 caliber musket ball in the forehead, which caused his body to more or less drop off. He was so happy to not have to fight any more, and he gathered with other spirits who hung over the battlefield, feeling happy to be able to love one another again, until someone came and showed them the way to the next place.

I've never heard anyone complain. Most say that it is a tremendous relief to get rid of the body, because it is so restricting.

I wonder if anyone else has any input on this?

Greetings,

Then there are some spiritual traditions that say we are on Earth to refine our soul through lessons we learn here.  If the lessons are tough ones that cause us pain or sufferring, but the lessons are actually for the soul, wouldn't it get to share some of our misery? Or does it get just a free ride?

George, you ask tough questions.

Bets

Hi George bets and dave I heard once that when the soul leaves the body at death ,the soul has to spend three days still on the earth plain and when my dad was in the chapel of rest his spirit was there and the spirit of my aunt josephine was with him,so they could see and hear everything we were doing and saying around his coffin.

I know of a child of ten who came out of his body two days before they turned his life support off, also dad said he came ot of his body just before he hit the floor as he dropped dead from heart failure.

Most mediums say that the soul is well again soon after death,so perhaps it takes a while for the soul to recover,i sometimes think that its a bit like a cleansing of the soul, like getting rid of all the negative feelings the soul died with.

Once i read of this soldier who died and was given a chinese spirit guide to cleanse his soul of violence and this soldier was taken by this chinese spirit guide to this small river in the spirit world, and he was told to bathe in this water and when he did this he came out of the water and his soul was at peace and all he felt then was unconditional love and all the violence and hatred had left his soul.

Love and God bless    Love Juditha

As I understand it, the "time" after death that the soul leaves the body and the earth planet depends on the individual experience.  Some souls leave immediately upon the last breath and go onto their belief system.  Other souls hang around the body to see the preparation of their wake and funeral, etc.  I had a friends whos mother's spirit wouldn't leave her house because she was so attahced to it during  her lifetime. It is an individual choce.
Also, when the spirit goes to review this former life--- I think that the soul will feel pain, although it will not be phycical pain.  We must judge ourselves and we are our worst/best critics. How we view our actions as human beings is also an individual choce.
In one of Bruce's books, he speaks about a woman caught up in a bog, hearing the shriling howls of "devil" canine. She keep running away and hiding from them, believing she is being punished for her wrong doings while she was alive. She doesn't realize that she is deceased. Brue tried to help her, but only preceived him to be a devil canine, also.  Her pain was very real for her; her sould was feeling the pain. In another episode, (can't recall if it was Bruce or  Bob Monroe) went to a room that resembled a hospital room.  The man who had passed away was still in the hospital bed.  Next to him in a chair was a spirit-helper dressed as a nurse.  She was gradually helping the man to realize that he was now deceased and could move on. The pain he felt (in his soul/spirit) was real to him, yet he no longer was in the flesh.
Yes--- I think that the soul can feel pain.  What soul didn't feel the pain, anguish and sadness during a natural catastrophe or war where thousands of beings all die at once?  I think those souls looking "down" upon us also feel real pain when we human beings falter or die in such manners.
