As I understand it, the "time" after death that the soul leaves the body and the earth planet depends on the individual experience. Some souls leave immediately upon the last breath and go onto their belief system. Other souls hang around the body to see the preparation of their wake and funeral, etc. I had a friends whos mother's spirit wouldn't leave her house because she was so attahced to it during her lifetime. It is an individual choce. Also, when the spirit goes to review this former life--- I think that the soul will feel pain, although it will not be phycical pain. We must judge ourselves and we are our worst/best critics. How we view our actions as human beings is also an individual choce. In one of Bruce's books, he speaks about a woman caught up in a bog, hearing the shriling howls of "devil" canine. She keep running away and hiding from them, believing she is being punished for her wrong doings while she was alive. She doesn't realize that she is deceased. Brue tried to help her, but only preceived him to be a devil canine, also. Her pain was very real for her; her sould was feeling the pain. In another episode, (can't recall if it was Bruce or Bob Monroe) went to a room that resembled a hospital room. The man who had passed away was still in the hospital bed. Next to him in a chair was a spirit-helper dressed as a nurse. She was gradually helping the man to realize that he was now deceased and could move on. The pain he felt (in his soul/spirit) was real to him, yet he no longer was in the flesh. Yes--- I think that the soul can feel pain. What soul didn't feel the pain, anguish and sadness during a natural catastrophe or war where thousands of beings all die at once? I think those souls looking "down" upon us also feel real pain when we human beings falter or die in such manners.
