papa legba

this is a recent early morning dream:

I'm talking with a tall black man, he holds a cane in his left hand. He's either pretty tall or I'm sitting on the floor. He's white-bearded, a straw hat, smiling. I don't remember much about the specifics of what we talk of. He is my old friend. He gives me a manuscript to take back to my people. And so i go...

.... flying in a night sky, it's a city-scape, lit up and celebrating, lots of people on the streets, feels like New Orleans or some such place dedicated to 24/7 celebration. I'm flying low over people below, thinking  "they can't quite reach up and grab my ankles and pull me down, that's good, better fly a tad higher though, ya never know..."

I'm looking for a building. I land and go in one. It's like a train car, people are lined up at the sides playing games. This isn't the place but I watch the fun for a few moments. Then I fly on...

....and land in front of a club. I recognise some folks going in. I join them. It's an L-shaped room, the little stage right there as you walk in, a little band playing roots music, a bar to the right and tables through-out. The folks I walk in with  (Lucy, Kathy, Irene and others) say "Let's try and sit together" but we can't, so we spread out, some of the rest of us are already here and settled in. I think of getting a whiskey or a g & t from the bar but see E. J. and another woman, both of them part of our gang. I go to them and put the manuscript I've been carrying the whole time on the table in front of E. J. "I just came back from the hoodoo man" I say.  "I'll look at it later" he says, but he opens it and does a smart thing: he sees that the back page is secretly sealed. He separates it, there are hidden pages. His gal looks at them, smiles and hands them to me. "Alright! Good work." He nods, both to the music and me.

I go to the bar and lay the material down, get a drink and start to read the hidden part. There are spiritual excercises explained and symbolic/mythic material. This is some interesting sh*t.  Lu, Kath and Irene (and others) are sitting up front near the music. I wave the papers to them. "Hooowheee!" I shout above the music, "Yeah!"

Well, I have buddhist spiritual dreams, down-south spiritual dreams and hard-to-classify spiritual dreams. This one has folks in it that are in lots & lots of my dreams ( Lu, E.J. folks from Linn's and here...) and  it's one of them southern-type dreams. I liked the feeling of this one a lot. And I like the manuscript I've been reading since then, it's not a novel but more like a recipe book or stereo instructions. It's to make something...

is Papa Legba like a guide Tim? I had a Chinese guy show up a few times in my spiritual dreams. no name for him, but remember his good nature and knowing smile as he imparted his message.

I thought you were going to give us your book for a minute Smiley but maybe the dream concerns your reading material right now.
I'd say from former dreams of mine, these two boards are definetely connected within spiritual realm..I've had too many outings correlating the two.
watch out now, I might pull your leg down! just for fun. love, alysia

I still remember my dream of members on this board, back more than a year ago.  I was in a house that was mine, but not my current one.  There were people over for a celebreation of some sort.  We opened the front door and saw them working on a new road going to a lake down the road (there really is a lake down the road).  Two or three other houses across the street were "under construction."  Back in the house, in one funny looking room myself and someone else who I now take to be Alyssia were talking about the floor.  It was tilted slightly on an angle, askew.  I remember commenting that I thought this needed to be fixed, but Alyssia pointed out that although it was odd, it suited the room.  There were other experiences - I didn't recognize the faces at this gathering, but knew they were friends'friendly.

It was only gradually, over months to a year that this dream began to fully unfold.  Don pointed out, on this forum that the idea of a new path toward the lake was most likely a representation of my new spiritual path.  Alyssia had the sense to point out that people in the house were members of this forum, meeting "out there."

Tim's dream seems analagous to me, and I feel the teachings from the hoo doo man will, with the passing of time, make themselves known.

Blessings,

Matthew

I've also had dreams with people from this forum.  It strikes me as interesting because I rarely have dreams about people I know with the exception of family and a very few others.  Sometimes when I read through the posts here, I wonder if we're all not part of some larger dynamic or entity.

Hi Rob, have you read all of Bruce's books? in the books he talks a little of a disc. All of the people in the disc are all one, but living different lives in physical location, but on the inner levels one.
Also thousands can be in one disc; some have more members than others and some disc members mingle with other discs on the inner level if they are in close vibration, or like minded purposes.

I have never understood his vision that well, but sometimes I believe that those drawn here, that stay here, at least awhile might be disc members checking in.
I guess we'll find out for sure when we all get back home.
I do not know for sure that I am part of Bruce's disc but I think it could be true. When the disc acquires all it can learn, speaking of experiences, it's supposed to all co-join and wink out of physical to the next dimension perhaps. but everybody joins in at their own special pace before this would happen and it's just something to imagine right now in terms of ascension.

so I see these dreams as meaningful and have had a few now and again which help me participate here as I learn things.  love, alysia

Rob, you and i are not two. We are more wave than particle. O.k... call us..."wavicle"

The archetype that is the guide papa legba exists in many cultures... In greek mythology he is Hermes, the messenger of the gods; in the cabala, he is represented by Tipereth. If you think of the afterlife as a labryinth; he is the heart of the labryinth... a place that gives access to all other places. He mediates betwen the unseen to the seen, often bringing gifts from one place to the other.

He is a figment of my imagination. He says that I am a figment of HIS imagination.

( Go figure!)

I'm actually a figment of my own imagination. I only exist as the stories I tell myself, about myself.

Legba is a storyteller and a trickster. He can't be trusted to tell you the truth. But he will never let you down.

He is a story I am telling you right now.

You were all there with me... what do you remember?

well Papa Legba sounds like my friend and I'm a popsickle and this thread is the train place in your dream where we play games. maybe.

when I talk to god who is like Papa Legba, he says I am a thought of his. and when I make stuff up I can be that thing I make up and forget who I really might be because then I am everything that I can make up. Smiley

every night I go somewhere. when I wake I feel sometimes I have been at a celebration. when we did PE, Spooky and I made a stage. well I made it, not sure if Spooky made it too, but I see him there sometimes. sometimes I think we are doing our music there. the stage is against a wall and u can come into the room from a wide entrance point from another room and look to the left is the stage.    see ya out there sometime Timmy and Papa Legba!

I had the strangest moment in a dream the other night. a musician I admire told me I was a Penelope pattern. yup. shoe fits. we laffed.  ...

I soar with the eagles, I spread my wings and I am the sun.  I am the moon.  I am the galaxies far and near.  I am the air you breath.  I am the song in your heart.  I am the earth beneath your feet.  I am the trickster and I am the barefoot Contessa.  I am you and you are me.  I am your story and you are mine.

We are wave.  I like that.  Just the other day I was a teapot but I realized that being a pot without the tea had little meaning.  Wavicle: a fuller explanation.  Thanks for your thoughts Tim.

Alysia, the disc analogy is good but this board doesn't have the feel of a disc to me.  Sometimes it's more like a cloud where Kathy's eagles fly.

And if Kathy's the barefoot Contessa, I'm hoping we all get invited to dinner.  I'm hungry.

Rob

well Rob, if you're a teapot there must be water and steam in your pot as I can hear you whisling all the way over here Smiley

I think what would be worse is being a teapot with a broken handle, then nobody could pick u up without burning their hand...just a poetry thought.. Smiley

I’m posting a dream here because it relates directly to this thread.  It’s mostly taken verbatim from my recording.

I sensed a presence that I identified clearly to myself as Tim F.  This presence had an idea/suggestion/urging that I make known publicly that I know a group/band/portion of people/beings because of my knowing this presence.  Also, that I know other groups/bands/portions of people because of my knowing other people/individuals/beings.

This dream was a non-physical experience (all dreams are, aren’t they?) in that there were no visual or aural aspects.  I only sensed a transparency and within it I could sense different somewhat geometrical areas that I took as representing these groups/bands/portions or whatever.  I strung the various words together from my recording – it shows how difficult it can be to render the non-physical into a spoken language.

Although Tim and I have rarely intersected on this board, his compassion and Buddhism resonate with me quite strongly.  My feeling is this experience was triggered by Tim’s dream of others that he knows from this Board; my indicating that sometimes it felt like we were all part of some larger entity; Tim’s post to the point that we are not separate; Alysia’s and Kathy’s posts; and, other things going on in my life.  I’m glad we’re connected.

Hi Rob. Tim can do PE, partnered exploration, I wouldn't be surprised he's a bit of a gad-a-bout! Smiley  so am I and some others on occassion. glad u shared this. nice thread!
I too resonate with Buddism probably more so than Christianity, I tend to be a little of this, a little of that. always like to read Tim and Kathy, and now you.

sounds like Tim is reminding you of just how connected you are to all that is. that you must know a lot more than you actually can communicate.
I think this may be true for many of us. the post it note here just cannot tell the whole story. wish you all were with me in a room somewhere! we could do some serious story telling.

well, who knows? it's marvelous dahling, simply mahvalous to chat!

Hi Rob,

Cool dream!  Yes, my post was all about connectedness.  I have dreams with people here on the forum quite often, too.  Tim and Alysia especially.  Although lately I've been popping into Don's dreams... hmmm... I wonder if he remembers?

btw... The Barefoot Contessa I was thinking of is the old Humphrey Bogart / Ava Gardner film, but hey... ya all can come for dinner any ol' time.  My door's always open.  Just plan on taking your shoes off... getting comfortable and staying a while.   Cheesy

Love, Kathy

It was friday night and again last night that I went to sleep intending to specifically connect with you Rob (along with a few others too)

I don't remember much of my dreams the last 2 nights. They all were pretty much the same though, two from last night and one from friday night all involving being at a convention. The early morning dream from today I remember the most, it was a very large gathering of beings who were all assembled into smaller groups, the emphasis was on creative activity, each smaller group focusing on a specific creative art....

Thoughts about your dream:

Each of us carry lines of energy... the groups of non-physical beings connected to us.  A wonderful thing that can happen in a forum like this is that when we meet each other in an open-hearted way, we can connect to the non-physical support system of each other. So.... you connecting with me connects you to lines of energy I carry; for example one line is the group of higher beings represented by names like Tara, Chenresig, Padmasambhava, Vajrakilaya etc. It's not that you connect to that line of energy through me; you get introduced to it through me but then have your own direct connection.

Likewise, me meeting you in the space of an open heart gives me connection to the lines of energy you carry; the groups of higher beings that are working with you for the positive benefit of all beings everywhere.

It reminds me of an image I get when trying to get a glimpse of understanding of super-string theory. Sometimes I see it as a "cosmic web" too, a matrix of wisdom beings... the way tantric buddhism sees it. But it doesn't matter the image, it's how it feels that is most important.

I'm grateful for all of our connections here. Together we are infinitely more than the sum of our parts.

I'll talk to y'all soon.

See you in dreams.

Love, Tim F.
