Life, a matter of choice?
Apr 25th, 2007 at 6:18am

I have read in different books, that we create all of our realities. It seems to be Seth and Elias motto as well. I like the concept of "you make your own choices", but started to wonder HOW we create our reality.
An example comes to mind, for instance, what about the 32 people who were murdered in Virginia Tech? Did they choose to be killed? A choice means that it must be conscious, and in this case, I dont think they were consciously aware of their choices (being murdered)... Are our choices "hidden" from us, i.e subjective choices? Your views and comments are welcome.

Hi

That question has always "bugged" me too.  My feeling about it is:  Yes and no.

For me, there is 2 aspects about creating our reality:  The inner and outer aspect.  I think we have a lot of control about our inner realities.  We can create an hell in our psyche... but it's always up to us to create an heaven and lovely place.

About the outer aspect, yes we have a level of control, but not as much as our inner reality.  Our inner reality affect the outside one.  There is also the  collective aspect, like a State or a Nation has its own reality (created from the collective).  There is a lot of variables in our outer reality and it's very complex.  That why we may not understand sometime why thing happen (like murders in Virginia Tech).  It can be what we sometime call Karma, or a random event, or maybe a conscious choice (but I don't think it happen often).

I think that more we develop our consciousness, more we experience this reality, more we will have different  choice about our next reincarnation.

The earth school of compressed learning is da*n more complex that what we think  Wink

As with everything else, it depends on what school of thought you happen to be following, Gemini.  On the one hand, there are those who believe that we are divine through and through and hide our godlike natures in the physical world in a metaphysical game of hide-and-seek.   In that school of thought, extensive planning is done with spiritual advisors prior to incarnation, and while the details are not known in advance, the major events may be.

The other school of thought is that we have no such planning or say in our lives.  This can make us appear at the mercy of the whim of a powerful universe, and often goes along the lines of Hobbes, who at one point called the life of man:  'nasty, brutish and short.'"  Or Shakespeare:  "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

My own belief is that I have seen intent and thought shape events in the physical world.  However, you have many individuals and energies interacting, in unpredictable ways.  I don't think those massacred planned to die, for the most part, but the killer's intent and energies simply intersected these lives in an arbitrary fashion.  The same with tsunami victims,  or those of a nuclear bomb.  Is there pre-life planning?  I don't know.......perhaps.  But we wouldn't learn everyitng if we knew about it beforehand.

We cannot separate the source from which "all blessings flow" from ourselves. It is fundamental that we know this part of ourselves if we wish to have any influence over our lives.  Without touching that part of ourselves we are just dandelions blown around in the wind.

But when we do look beneath the surface....come, take a moment with me....we're here, the still waters just below our view, and so easily, so smoothly, we can lower ourselves down to the velvety moving place below....

this place where all of life originates is closer than our heartbeats.

I cannot question this reality anymore...because if God, All that Is, is so close to us that even Its Presence is the reason why we live....

who am I to question?

Seems like we start as children and wind up as Gods. Children are often cruel - mostly because thoughtless. Then because mistaken, and finally they stop that behavior because of understanding. The next problem is how to be useful and increase all the positives, like love, awareness, joy, and here we are.

works for me.

Sometime we just have to allow thing to happen in our life, without labeling them.  It's even better.

Wow Juditha, for a nice, spiritual person like you, with psychic
talent, the idea that life is crap, does not sound right at all.
I am scratching my head, how could this possibly be? My feeling is,
we had better do something about this. Your life should definitely
not be crap.

We do create some of our realities, but we are surrounded by people
who are creating their realities also, and the two may or may not
work together. But I see in this thread a great range in how people
view their ability to control their own lives. Some people think
they are creating everything that happens to them, and some think
they have little or no control. Some New Agers have a greatly
exaggerated idea that they are creating everything, when they are
not.

But it is possible to figure out, step by step, what you created
and what you did not, what is created upon you. If you look back,
you will see all sorts of choices that you actually had, that you
did make, and you can analyze how these then caused whatever to
follow from them. You chose, for instance, to accept a marriage
proposal, and with that you handed over half of your destiny to
someone else, and you were no longer in full control, and not
creating your reality by yourself. If you chose a line of study in
school, you handed over the control of your time to the person
teaching that subject. The same, when you applied for a job. You
chose what job to apply for, but after that, the job and its bosses
controlled things from then on. You, however still affected the
outcome by the manner in which you applied yourself to each of
these things, whether you did so in a successful way or not.

Some things in your life are controlled by you,  and some are
controlled by others. The balance varies with the situation.

You might think that your situation was out of your control, but
someone else hypothetically stepping into that situation, might
bring a different attitude or policy that would define the
situation differently, and change its direction and its results.

Overall, I think that the idea that you create your own reality is
the greatest contribution that the New Age has made, even though
they have greatly exaggerated it. But I think that people do not
realize the very large extent to which they do in fact create their
own reality. Every day offers choices on how to do something, and
how to think about something, and how to talk to people. These
choices that we make are the way that we caused much of what
happened to us. But others also caused much of what happened.

Love,
Boris

Thank you Boris.  I think there is much truth in what you say here.

Our lives are all about relationship to not only our self, but all that is all around us.  It begins with the relationship we have with our self and the choices we make on an individual basis, and then it expands to a small group relationship with our families.  Then on to a larger group relationship with people we spend time with such as those we work or play with, and then on to the neighborhood in which we live, and then on to the larger group of our communities or cultures and so forth on to the world at large.  Together we all have created the world to be as it is and it began with our individual choices in relationship to all others.  So we have groups within groups within groups and so on.

When something as tragic as this shooting occurs we tend to not see that we as individuals helped to create this.  We don’t see the part we played in creating the kind of world in which something like this can occur.  But we did.  And it all began with the choices we make for our self and within the group choices in which we participate.  Commonly called the collective.  The choices we make on an individual basis have a direct affect on creating the reality of the world in which we live.

Love, Kathy

I agree with you, Kathy.  However, one must consider random energies which interfere with our lives - many interactions of this kind do not arise by our conscious/subconscious decision.  A large meteor could land and decimate a part of the world (aka what killed the dinosaurs).  If this happened now, here in NY, I doubt very much that I, Matthew would have decided that the meteor should by chance make contact in this day, time, etc.  Would I have known i pre-life planning that it would occur?  I'm not sure - the jury is still out in my book on how much pre-life planning/knowledge we are permitted or know.

Physical life is precious, a gift and a learning experience.  I believe that while we do create or attract to ourselves our own realities (changing probabilities in the real world) that there are random intersections of energies which are unplanned, and not necessarily under our control.

I still look on life in a positive way, feeling that we can create a better world in our microcosm and macrocosm.  I just don't think that the random energy interactions are forseen.

Hi Ive tried so hard too fit into this world as i have been put down as a person since i was 12 yrs old and it has never stopped,i have even thought many times ,that i dont belong in this world and i felt that the ground im standing on,i shouldnt be standing on it because im not good enough, when im in a crowd of people i dont speak a word as i am scared of the knock back of someone in that crowd whos going to put me down,i live behind a mental brick wall and part of me is dead inside but because of my spiritual knowledge and my mediumship ,these two things are precious to me as they make me feel like a small part of me is worth me being here.

I go to this centre everyday because of my mental brick wall ,that has been inside my head since i was 12 yrs old and they are helping me to beleive that i should be on this earth plain, but i know that whatever life throws at me,I will be at peace oneday in Gods heaven with my darling dad and i will be a free spirit and there will be no more pain.

I love you all on here, love and God bless        Love Juditha

Hi Matthew,

I agree that there does seem to be a chaotic nature in our world... universe, but you're talking to someone who drove her car right through another car as though it were jello.  I can't explain why or how that happened, but it did.

What exactly our relationship is to a meteor or some similar global event, I really don't know.  Do I think a meteor could pass right through earth like jello.  You bet! Smiley  But I don't have a clue about how that might happen, only that it is possible.

Love, Kathy

So how do we create a better situation around us? One way is to
respond to those around us who need attention or a better outlook.
Being helpful is part of our spiritual training. Juditha and Deanna, it    bothers me that you have problems with this life, and I don't want
you to feel alone. Either of you may send me emails or PM if you feel
like it. I don't know if I can help, and I get very behind on my
email. But at least I am easy to talk to and I am accepting of
where people are at. I have a very difficult life also, but I still
appreaciate this planet, and have a basic optimism.

Juditha..tear down the wall..I know that's easier to say than do, but try.  One brick at a time.

You don't have to have confirmation from others that you belong here.  Do you know the biggest reason others use put downs?  Its because it makes them feel better about themselves and truly has nothing to do with the one they choose to belittle.

I have seen you grow so much since you've been here..you definately belong here, and not just "here" as in this board, but in the larger worldwide community.

Hugs and love,
Shirley
