B-man:

I can appreciate why the subtle humor of "Family Circus" would elude a guy like you.  I do agree with your love of "The Far Side," my favorite comic strip.   Meanwhile, I continue to be amused by the hatred you and your lapdog, DaBears, continue to spue forth against "Fundies."  Even the sanctimonious Matthew coyly employs that scornful term against one branch of Christianity.  I'm also amused by the smirkly winks and nods you get from various members of the Ghetto who mostly tone down their anti-Christian hatred to prevent me from gaining more ammo.   My protests against this hate speech are routinely ignored because Bruce and the site's zeitgeist secretly take pleasure in such ridicule.   So the Poer Moderator system only provides eloquent testimony to the Ghetto's lurking venom.  Still, I take satisfaction from communications from those outside the Ghetto who appreciate the lessons I am teaching by holding up a mirror to these bigots, despite the absence of "Fundies" on this site and despite the irrelevance of this invective to ths site's purpose.

By the way, I consider Billy Graham one of the most effective and most spiritual humans beings of the 20th century.  He insisted on the racial integration of his southern crusades while southern police were still hosing and beating civil rights marchers.   Hie played in important role in raising southern consciousness.  And of course, Billy does not condone the notion that all those who don't believe in Christ are damned.   And no, I am not a "Fundie" and I do differ with Billy on various doctrinal positions.

As for the "hardening" of Pharaoh's heart, the Old Testament often fails to distinguish between the active and the permissive will of God.   Pharaoh was simply allowed to maintain his standard abuse of power for the greater purpose of enhancing Jewish awareness of the love of "I will be whatever I will be" (Exodus 3:14), later shortened to "Yahweh" [= He will cause to be"] .a title not to be spoken.  If Dude were sincere, he'd try to learn more about this Jesus who gave him a loving mystical encounter.   That of ocurse does not mean Dude has to embrace any doctrine of Scripture; it does mean that he must investigate the Gospels to learn more about Christ.  Dude's disdain for doing so suggests to me that he is more interested in the "love buzz" he experienced than in the spiritual transformation it might presage. The New Testament teaches that God does not allow us to make sport of His overtures; rather, God requires an all-consuming spiritual quest to learn more about "Him."  Jesus taught the importance of taking seriously the overtures we receive if we truly desire more chance for a deeper mystical relationship.

Don

Well, keep on promoting a fear based Religion that causes wars and blockhead Christians like yourself... Your Christianity, is the reason for people going to the hells of fire and brimstone... People who follow Christianity pray to God that they won't burn in hell forever..  How healthy is that?? Your religion costs people their souls to be trapped in a hell of fire and brimstone for a brief period of time... !!! That is murder and blasphemy to preach a God that sends people to a fiery hell!! I'm also, sure you feel no compassion towards those people in hell either.. Like most Christians don't!!  Which, is sick and morbid!

God never created hell and you morons preach a God of wrath!! How ignorant is that??! I use to be a Christian till I saw it caused more damage than good.. It brainwashes people to follow stupid rituals that are a waste of time.. It breaks familys up.. It turns people into ignorant a-holes who think they know it all and they tell people they are going to hell.. Or atleast think that about others..

"How then can your little mind understand the ways of God Most High?  Can one already worn down by this corrupt world understand the ways of the incorruptible God?”

Nice angel.  Way to go.  Caryn, while you and I see eye to eye on many things, I should tell you flat out that it is passages like thse which turn off those in the physical plane to God and religion.  Passages like this increase the separation of man from God, they do not speak to the divinity within us.  Did you notice that while the Angel asked seemingly unanswerable questions, no "right" answer was provided?  A good physicist could have given answers to each question; even I could take a stab at it - that is not the point.

The issue most have is that it is tough enough being in the physical plane without an higher authority telling us how lowly and insignificant we truly are.  There is enough of that going on in the world right now, thank you very much.  Would not a heaven working on the concept of PUL have provided the answers in this heavenly communication, rather than ridiculing the questioner, so that he may feel lowly and unworthy?

I believe that there are certain aspects of the divine that may not be fathomable in the physical, however stories like this one leave me cold, and do not seem compatible with the authenticity of the love of heaven.

Caryn,

I feel that you hide your anger and your sadness behind these passages you pull from your beloved Books.

They are not your words....they are the wall you hide behind.  There is no need for a lovely person to hide, nor for such a one to defend her God.

Let your true light shine for it is beautiful. Let the Freedom within speak for you.  I feel that you have much to say to us but that somehow these Books to which you cling are stifling your true self.

The love that you feel for Christ, I believe, can be better shared from the purity in your own Heart, in your own words.

We are all Children and You are loved more than you can imagine.

love, blink

I couldn't have said it better myself, Doc. Take the Book of
Job for example.
Job is a man with some LEGITIMATE bones to pick with "God", if ever anyone did! BUT what happens when he rightfully (and with all humility!)
asks questions of "God"? The Big Guy comes across as little more than
an ill-tempered lightning bolt thrower. "God" based his entire answer
to Job on this premise: "I can squish you like a little bug, so how
DARE you question my ways." (Pretty heady and uplifting spiritual
stuff, eh???)
This is the sort of crap, that makes me an eternal ENEMY of organized,
authoritarian, hierarchical "church-based" religion - Christian or otherwise. (And I'm PROUD to say so!)
