unexpected Detour
Feb 24th, 2007 at 5:01am

Hi Everybody,

I had an unexpected detour today when I decided to go ice skating in my usual OBE place.

I usually skate alone and there isn't much scenery except for an occasional varriation.  It is basicly a slightly flattend, inverted cone shaped hunk of ice drifting in a vast blackness. Music seems to flow everywhere. It is very peaceful. I usually don't notice what I am wearing so I think I am sans clothing. I keep meaning to check when I am there but I seem to get caught up in the monent and forget.

I arrived on a snowbank surrounded by tall pine trees, the smell was fabulous. I looked out onto the ice and to my surprise it was full of people. Families, couples, people doing people things. At this point I did remember to check out my attire. To my relief I was clothed in a white sweater and pant outfit. I stood on the bank and watched for a couple of minutes. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be there. Was I intruding? So I waited.

I checked out the scene. It was just beautifull. White hills of snow, heavely peppered with tall pine trees surrounded the ice. I looked back at the skaters and noticed many of them had left. It was now mostly just very small groups out in the distance. I decided it was time to step out onto the ice but I noticed I had snow boots on. I usuallly skate in my bare feet. I was going to take my boots off when something caught my attention from way on the other side of the pond. There was something moving between some trees. I strained to see but it was to far away and obscured by the greenery. My friend stepped out from the trees into the clearing. He seemed to be waiting for my response. As soon as he saw that I was happy to see him he started to approach. I turned my head away for just a monent and when I turned back he was there.  He reached his hand out and I accepted his invitation. We steped on to the ice and we made the first glide of our skates but instead of going forward we shot up into the air. We went through the blue sky and the clouds. When we reached our altitude we were floating in the darkness.

We floated for only a second, just long enough for me to know that we were both smilling. We started spinning in circles seperaterly and I could see that we were becoming vapor like. Then our circles became intwined creating a figure eight. At that moment we both became balls of spinning white and yellow light. We kept moving in the figure eight shape at an increasing amount of speed until you could not tell where one begins and the other ends. This went on for a while. I could then see sparks of 'light' shooting off in all directions from us. They were small sparks at first but became increasingly larger as this activity continued. Finally there was a blast of energy from the core of us that burst out with a lot of force. I could see big chunks of golden white light were circling us as we came to a stop. We were immediately 'ourselves' again just floating in the dark laughing our 'donkies' off. We had a big laugh and then floated back through the sky and clouds and onto the ice. I had just enough time to give him a big grin and I was back.

The first thing I noticed was a feeling of electricity surging through me. It was a bit much at first but tappered off to a comfortable buzzing. After a few minutes I tried to get up but my feet were all prickly, like when they are asleep, and I felt a little woozy. I rested for awhile and feel a lot better. I still feel a little 'floaty' though, but I'm sure that will pass.

I don't know yet what happened, what we were doing, but I know it was all good whatever it was.

Has anyone had a similar experience or have any ideas of what the meaning might be?
As usual thanks for your help.   Love, Stacy

Hi Stacy,

That was a beautiful description! I had some experiences like that this past summer/fall when I was so filled with PUL from these discussions that I looked to tantric mystical unions as an expression of such PUL.
Ethereal love can really makes the sparks fly!

The figure eight when seen on its side is a symbol for eternity. I can't interpret for you why you chose it as one of your 'flight patterrns'  Smiley but
whatever,
it all sounds good to me!
You have chosen to roam in some rather exciting realms!

Love, bets

I'll add my husband's admonition when I told him about my 'Trooper' dream. He thought abit and then said, "Well----stay grounded."   Smiley
And he was right, as I have noticed I get not as clear about physical space and driving a car when I'm still floating from spirit.

Hi Bets,

I remember your 'Trouper' deram. It seemed to me to be a very positive growth spurt for you. What you say is true, many of the discussions on this board create a powerful PUL energy that we carry with us; allowing us to 'sprout our wings and fly' so to speak. I lilke your husbands advice; "Well----stay grounded." It is solid advice. lol You say "as I have noticed I get not as clear about physical space and driving a car when I'm still floating from spirit." This is what I ment by 'floaty' feeling, only you explained it much better.

I am not sure if I chose this location or the experience. I have no knowledge of setting my intent there. It is possible though that I did make these arrangements because I have been receiving 'information' for days now. (This happens often and I have learned it is nothing to fear) It feels as though I am being 'downloaded' with information and sometimes I even answer audibly but I have no idea on a human level what is going on. What I mean is..I know information is being 'fed' into my mind but my puny human brain can not recognise or interpret. So there is that possibility.

Figure eight = eternity. Thats what I came up with, but you know how sometimes there is more than one meaning.

So Bets you don't think I was intruding in a location I didn't belong? I don't have a lot of experience with 'others' out there. My excursions are usually solo, but I have been noticing more people in the background on these 'trips'. I am sure there is an etiquette, so I will follow common courtesy and respect. Can't go wrong there, and if I do I will probably be forgiven quickly because my intent was good. Silly human. lol

Anyway, thanks kiddo, Lots of Love to you, Stacy

Hi Stacy,
my "special place 27", as TMI calls it, I often use as a place to move what feels upwards, and it's becoming less material, or better less visual formed then. I have two spots in this place where I do this. At the beginning, when the place was new to me, I spend most of the time to explore it, build, and enhance my perception of it, then my helpers took me with them upwards, now I do this on my own.
I also have similar experiences like you had, when I met others there and we became energy fields, but with a surface, only this surface can have the most complex forms, and we sort of hug, playing with our our shapes, it's like a sort of poetic form of communication. This spinning round until you both melted, so to say, makes me remember this.

hi Stacy. ive been ice skating in my head too..fun.

By the number of skaters u saw meant that this kind of experience is tied into the shall we say extraordinarily common..in that is signifies union of spirit and oneness. or even upliftment of each other by soulmates or just lovers.

treasure them, they appear rarely but is an indication of your growth into spirit areas.

Spooky,

You have brought up two very important 'clues' for me here. Each seperately clicking on bits of information that I already had and stringing them together. I can feel this happening right now as I type. This post is going to take awhile; I keep pausing because I am so excited. I just love when this happens!

Clue 1: So are you saying that you think my special place may be on focus 27 ? I didn't know I could 'reach' that far, but that would explain why I know I have nothing to fear. Also when you said your helpers took you upwards with them did you mean into the blackness or into another focus location? I also need to ask..when we find we can do things on our own is it ok to do so? That may sound silly but I worry about intruding on peoples privacy. Everyone there is so considerate about giving my friend and I privacy when we need it. I get the feeling that they are still there but not there; if that makes any sense. On the other hand maybe I 'belong' as high as I can reach. hhmmm

Clue 2: The day after this experience I can to realize that one aspect of this did seem to be a form of very deep communication.

Once again Spooky, thank you...Stacy

Hi Stacy,

from the experiences you told it sounds like Focus 27.
I don't know to what degree the Monroe/TMI system is objective, meaning for everyone valid in the same way, but what I can say is it is very useful for me. Sometimes though I don't know in what Focus Level I am, and I don't care much. But I use the Focus Levels to sort the experiences I have in meditation, like "this felt like near Focus 27" or so. When I "made my way" the first times to F 27 consciously, I imagined places (or better, half active imagination, half it came)along my journey, so that I could hop from place to place. You know, to allow active imagination can be helpful. I once saw a hypnotizer preparing a client for the dentist because of narcotics allergy. The hypnotizer made his client imagine a beautiful place of safety, warmth, etc. Now, in what Focus level was the client? We don't know exactly.
What seems to me about the special places in F 27, they are private. That means, if you want to be alone there, you will be alone. If you think you'd like some company, then maybe some people show up, usually personal helpers. That means also, you cannot intrude into another person's private place (when it's not wanted), so don't worry about this. There are people out there who are not aware of their imaginative power, so they are not able to make decisions about the state of privacy of the place they are in. So it might be one can show up there, as it happens in retrievals for example, but it isn't a crime you know. What counts is the intention. I think one can also modificate how one appears to others, even to be invisible to others. In the Belief System Territory my guides shielded me, so that I couldn't be seen by the inhabitants, as in many places there this is not liked when a guy appears in the air. But I feel when this is the case, so I keep a distance and/or go in camouflage mode then. "I belong as high as I can reach" sounds good to me!
This moving upwards from Focus 27 mostly ends in a place of white and grey fog, but with a sense of "my" people nearby (or within me), and love, and relief from the narrowing and annoyance of things/forms. Sometimes it's different though.
The spacy blackness, I see it mostly with star-dots, I'm not sure if it's related to one specific focus level, but if I'd say it's Focus 21 or slightly higher. That's what it feels like to me. From this place I can do retrievals for example. Or go anywhere.

I'd like to note that I am almost ever more or less aware of my physical body during this, so I call it "mind journeys" rather than "OBEs". I had two OBEs, and they are different.

Hi Spooky,

I believe I understand what you mean by using 'half active imagination'. I use this method to determine if I am actually having an experience with someone. For instance, If for some reason nothing is happening I will imagine some change in the scenery, or change night into day or vice versa. If I get a reaction from them and then things start moving along I feel verified that it is actual. So am I correct that we mean the same thing?                                    half active imagination = action-reaction

I got a lot out of your post. I also use the 'felt like' method of sorting the details of the experiences. Meaning I trust my perceptive ability much more there than I would here. Now I trust it more.

I figured if my intent was good an accidental intrusion wouldn't be so bad. But I was letting this hinder my exploration. I feel much more comfortable about it now and perhaps it's time for me to mingle with the 'locals'. If I used the 'half active imagination = action-reaction' method along with intent could/would this draw people into the script I started? Is this the method you used when you ran across the hypnotist? I know, I am bombarding you with questions, sorry..kind of.

I have been to a white foggy space. I can float up like a baloon from my special skating place. This has only happened a few times at moments of complete and utter joy. Words here have no meaning in expressing these emotions but you know that. I don't know how many foggy spaces there are but this one is very peaceful and I did not feel alone either. After the intital wierdness wears off it is nice. This is uncharted teritory for me so I didn't want to stay to long.

One time I went up past the fog into just blackness. I have been in the blackness before but this was different. It only took me a monent to realize that I had no form what so ever, not even vapor. I felt like I was one with the blackness. I was still me but I felt like I was 'nothing and everything' all at the same time. By the way, 'nothing' is the wrong word I just don't know what the right discription is but that's fairly close. I was not alone either. There seemed to be a lot of 'activity' (for lack of a better word), but I could not perceive any of it, just that it was. This only lasted a few moments and I got a little wierded out. At this time I have no memory of what happened next.

I have to put some more thought into your statement regarding 'mind journeys'. My thought has been leaning in this direction for myself as well. When I joined in on the PE I went OBE and it is very different than my usual method. I had very little control with the OBE. With the mind journey my senses are much sharper and I have much more control of the situation. For me it is a better experience all around. But then sometimes I have to wonder, is this real? So in comes the 'action-reaction' method to verify.

I have gained so much from your post Spooky, thank you. Stacy

I have a question for Spooky and Daiseymae.

You both mentioned visits to a white foggy place.  Last night I was very relaxed and trying to get to focus 10 or something (I have a ways to go to get to focus 27).  Then my awareness was of what I called white cloudiness with a sense of light filling it up.  There was also a sense of comfort, warmth and peace.  I use the term cloudiness because there were fluffy rounded irregular shaped but all white.  I’m just wondering if this is similar to what you are describing as fogginess?  Is this fog uniformly spread out or could there be a cloudy aspect to it?

I’d appreciate your thoughts or descriptions about this foggy place or space.  I’ve really enjoyed the discussion in this thread.  Thanks - Rob

Hi Rob,

First of all I lovingly suggest that you not assume that you have a ways to go before you can reach focus 27 or around it. I was unaware that was where I was going until it was pointed out to me in this thread, I was wondering however.  I say this just to point out that we have no idea of how far we can go until we really reach for it. Stretch our arms out wide Rob, drink in all the love and joy. See where it takes you. I can only tell you what works for me, try it though it seems fairly basic.

Regarding your question of 'cloudiness': What you described is very similar to my experience. I could not tell if the surrounding area was uniformly spread out or billowy. The space directly around me was flowing with energy, light, love, peace and puffy fogginess (and probably more but my senses were on overload at the time, so much to take in, mostly in the emotional). The colors were of white, very pale whitish grey, varring shades of golden yellow. I got the distinct feeling that the light and energy was comming from 'beings' as though they were dancing with joy all around me. Next time I am going to be able to relax a bit more, I'll let you know what I learn.

Let the love envelope you, joy will follow and you can 'fly' higher than you can ever imagine. This is my take on it anyway, use what works for you. I hope this helps.

Fly high my friend, Stacy

Quote Stacy:
"So am I correct that we mean the same thing? half active imagination = action-reaction"

When you manipulate something, and a person is turning the head saying "Hey! What you're doing here?!" that would be a very good sign that you're not alone with your fantasy. A standard for me is I imagine a landscape. Mostly a park, woods or something like that. Then I walk around. If I had something specific in mind to do, I would remember, for example meeting someone. This landscape now is a sort of background, a space I created for something to happen, priming the pump as Bruce has called it. If then someone shows up I mostly don't care much of the surrounding, and usually it's becoming to get fast, it feels as if something is using my ability to imagine much faster as I do it on my own, and this is I think the translation process, you get something through nonphysical senses (who knows what this actually is) and then the imaginative ability is used to make a representation of it.
Once I thought I was in F27. I remembered that "The Park" is suggested to be a sort of public area, where actually different persons can meet. So I decided to do a test. I tried to change the sky/the weather. I thought I had success, though it was not easy, having changed it into something different, but then it jumped back to its original look, like a rubber band. I thought then that in this moment I was seeing an independent place.
But generally, I cannot tell wether this or that detail is made up by me or actually something independent of my personal mind; I judge more the entire happening, if the whole thing is feeling like private fantasy or if it's more, like too much unexpected things happened, simply too many things happened, or it's just too strange for being my fantasy lol!
Quote Stacy:
"If I used the 'half active imagination = action-reaction' method along with intent could/would this draw people into the script I started?" I'm not sure if, or to what degree this is possible. I think who could show up in a setting are your personal helpers, as I guess they know what you're thinking and doing and why and they like sometimes to play along (at least mine). When you have one or more partners for exploration, then I guess it could be that a surrounding, a story or whatever you use as a start setting could bleed through to the other, but also vice versa. As to strangers, I don't know really...if they, so to say, would "hook up" to your imagination. The closest to this that I can remember is when I did a particular type of retrievals. I called it "blind retrievals". I was on my way to F27 and thought, try to do a retrieval en passant; I sort of radiated in a white loving manner (at least that's what I wanted to appear) and spread the message that if there is someone who wants to get out and have a ride with me then just come here, I am going right now. To my surprise this was always successful. When moving upwards, I found there were always people with me. I suspect they must have been not the really closed down types, but I don't know how this works. But what you always can do is to state what you want and what not, for example if you only want contact with certain people and not with everybody who is just hanging around nearby and is attracted for whatever reason, then say (or communicate it in whatever way) this in your mind.

Quote Stacy: "I don't know how many foggy spaces there are but this one is very peaceful and I did not feel alone either."
Yes, I found this white foggy place which is beyond forms, and maybe this white fog is just to give us something to say "there is no form here". Sounds very similar to this place I frequently visit. If you want to explore this further, but don't know what to do in this nothingness (well you don't have to do anything, maybe it's even better to just do nothing and not explore), then you might try not to search around you if you can find someone outside you, but to focus on the "here", on the "within" (this is of course metaphoric, but it works for me). I then always notice I'm not alone, quite the opposite. Hearing works better there than seeing so I found.
From some level on descriptions will become more poetic than logical. I for example like "the emptiness which is richness". I have those impressions either in the white foggy place, or in blackness, or in what looks like outer space, star dots, galaxies and such.
But of course there are other foggy places, quite a lot I think, but the difference is easy to notice, as usual after a short time a scene is forming, someone is showing up, so that this foggy visual in this case is a sort of "tuning in" static, or, well, simply a foggy place, maybe astral London. But, as I said, the difference is immense and it's impossible to confuse it.

Rob, I would say these cloudy shapes in my experience are just too diffuse to be actual shapes, but too differentiated than to be just blank. It's as if it's formless, but also that there is something (but not really things, you know). Maybe a bit like the fog in the movie "The Fog" (but take that horror figures away), because there it glowed too, but it wasn't really glowing; overall the visual aspect was as if to say "the visual here is not important". If I had to paint it, I would use aquacolor wet-in-wet technique or airbrush.
And I think Stacy is right, maybe it's not difficult at all for you to go to Focus 27. You could try to go through the Focus Levels. You know, there is meanwhile quite a lot information, "rotes" out there and help, from all the ones who use this Focus Level method, that I guess it is becoming more and more easy to travel this way.

Thanks folks!  Your suggestion that I shouldn’t just assume I’m at focus 10 strikes a resonant note with me.  I’ve been wondering about that for a few days.  There are changes going on in both my exercises and my dreaming.  Maybe that’s why I asked my question.

Making assumptions can be limiting.  I need to use some of that active-imagination you’ve been discussing.  When I think back, a number of folks have stressed the importance of imagination and curiosity.  I need to take that to heart and reach out and embrace with love and joy – as Stacy suggests.  Thank you for your thoughts and encouragement.

Also, thank you Spooky.  I am so glad you share your experience and wisdom here.  Your posts give me a lot to think about.  I appreciate the way you’ve thought about all your experiences and are able to share them and your insights in ways that really help me to comprehend better.
