Hi Rob,
As always, your take on things is quite interesting. Before reading your post, I thought the room meant a part of me/my life that I am finished with and am willing to move on from. Even if that is the case, your suggestion of examining the room is indeed a healthy decision.
Many of my house dreams involve me being in the basement, and I've always known that to mean my subconscious or something buried in my past. In the basement I always find old parts of my life that are either from my childhood or things that I've stuffed down there that I don't want to deal with anymore. It is very dreary down there!
Oftentimes when I'm dealing with some difficult emotional aspect in my life, my dreams have me in the kitchen of this dream house, or the bathroom or living room (basically the main floor, the main living areas) and I'm having to tackle a huge water leak, overflowing toilet, overflowing bathtub, or water coming through the walls. These dreams clearly represent my emotions and my need to deal with them.
This dream above about the lightning in the closed-off room is different from my other house dreams, so I'm sure it is representing this new time of my life (dealing with some personal issues, some of which are new, and some that are old but are just surfacing in a new way). The reason I like your suggestion to re-examine that room is because I know for a fact that I tend to bottle things up rather than plunge into them head-on and take care of business. That's something that is a lot harder to do! But it is indeed necessary for full growth.
I'm going to analyze the lightning bolt representation a bit more. I think there is something in it to discover.
Love, Vicky
