New House
Feb 22nd, 2007 at 2:20am

I'm happy that I remembered a dream finally.  I have been under a lot of stress for quite a while and my dreaming has been so jumbled and scattered.  But I woke this morning remembering this dream.  It is very telling of what's been going on in my personal life at the moment.

In the dream I am in a large house that is my own.  I realize I am very happy with my new house and new situation.  I am upstairs on the topmost floor, ready to leave to start my day.  My daughter is sitting next to a window looking outside, and I let her know we need to get going.  I notice there is a woman standing off to the side, to my left, and I know she is there to help with my daughter.

I didn't know why she was there but I trusted her.  My daughter did not seem to notice the woman there even though the woman seemed so kind and smiled lovingly on my daughter.  As I asked my daughter to come down the stairs, the woman quietly followed after.  I was about to go down the stairs when I noticed light coming from under the door of a closed room.  I walked over to check, thinking I must have left a light on.

This room was standing in the middle of the entire upper floor, and seemed walled off from the rest of the house which I used.  I knew this room was closed off and no longer used.  I even felt apprehensive approaching it, as I know that I've told myself I will no longer go in there.

I opened the door just slightly and looked in.  There was a layer of dust on the floor, and remnants from old things not needed any longer.  Across the room on the far wall I saw the reflection of a remakrable lightning flash coming in through a window.  It was amazing as I've always been fascinated with weather, but I did not want to enter the room to view the lightning storm.  I knew I could go outside to see it just as well, or even view it from a different window.  I closed the door and said out loud in the dream, "I don't like this room".

It was a statement not out of fear but out of confidence in my decision not to use this room anymore.  I felt strong for being able to close the door, and although I knew the room was there in the middle of my living space, I felt confident in choosing to close it up.

That's wonderful, Vicky. It sounds like some area in your heart/mind which was put aside has resolved itself, and that you are feeling very protected and in control of your choices.

Not only you, but your daughter is protected and you feel safe to continue your journey together with your earthly family and your extended spirit family beside you.

Hi Vicky,

That's really neat! I particularly liked that you noticed you were at a higher level, and then you could shut off parts you didn't want to use!

Can the other two persons also simultaneously represent other aspects of you, like mature-you is calmly taking care of innocent-you?

Whatever, it's a strong and meaningful dream!

Love, Bets

Blink, I agree, I see this as meaning that a part of my life I needed to change has finally been resolved and I can move on.  My interpretation of the woman was that she was a nonphysical guide/helper to my daughter.

Betson, I like your interpretation of the dream characters too.  I never thought of it that way but it works.

I've noticed that houses are a big theme in my dreams when I am deeply dealing with some aspect of my life.  This dream was particularly positive as you've noticed, Betson, that I was on the highest floor and in control.

Greetings Vicky.  I like everyone’s thoughts on your dream.  I have a somewhat different take on it.  I’ve been taught that a house often represents our psyche.  A basement would suggest the subconscious – heading down into the depths where we touch on the unconscious.  An upper story would then suggest a part of your conscious mind – but not part of you day-to-day life (first floor with the kitchen and living room).  The room that was closed off but has light and where you open the door suggests a part of your conscious mind where light is now coming in.  Maybe it needs to be dusted and cleaned up to bring something fully into consciousness.

The lightening might be archetypal energy that is coming into consciousness.  Your daughter might represent an unconscious or subconscious aspect that needs to be nurtured and grow.  The guide is probably a guide but she might be there to help you incorporate whatever aspect is coming up through your subconscious into your conscious awareness.

Dreams are fascinating experiences.  I agree it’s a positive dream and no doubt had a lot of energy from that lightening.  I reckon that I’m proposing that you re-examine that room.  The lightening didn’t put you off, but the room did.  Maybe it’s worth looking into.  Just a thought.

Hi Rob,

As always, your take on things is quite interesting.  Before reading your post, I thought the room meant a part of me/my life that I am finished with and am willing to move on from.  Even if that is the case, your suggestion of examining the room is indeed a healthy decision.

Many of my house dreams involve me being in the basement, and I've always known that to mean my subconscious or something buried in my past.  In the basement I always find old parts of my life that are either from my childhood or things that I've stuffed down there that I don't want to deal with anymore.  It is very dreary down there!

Oftentimes when I'm dealing with some difficult emotional aspect in my life, my dreams have me in the kitchen of this dream house, or the bathroom or living room (basically the main floor, the main living areas) and I'm having to tackle a huge water leak, overflowing toilet, overflowing bathtub, or water coming through the walls.  These dreams clearly represent my emotions and my need to deal with them.

This dream above about the lightning in the closed-off room is different from my other house dreams, so I'm sure it is representing this new time of my life (dealing with some personal issues, some of which are new, and some that are old but are just surfacing in a new way).  The reason I like your suggestion to re-examine that room is because I know for a fact that I tend to bottle things up rather than plunge into them head-on and take care of business.  That's something that is a lot harder to do!  But it is indeed necessary for full growth.

I'm going to analyze the lightning bolt representation a bit more.  I think there is something in it to discover.

Love,
Vicky

striking dream Vickie! (notice my wonderful pun?)

I'm pondering the lightening also. are you fascinated with a thunder storm?
I feel a thrill to watch one, not sure how you feel about a storm, but seems to me you are the same as me. perhaps it represents powerful energy?
power in your own house? that someday you will come into?
but you are confident to make your choices right now to close the door. it must mean you are involved with your family now, but this room sits there, right in the middle and u can hardly ignore that, but you have another task at the moment.
windows, for me, generally mean looking into the sky of the future landscape. it sounds like a wonderful dream all in all to me.

Hi Alysia,

Love the pun.  I've always loved all kinds of weather.  I could sit and watch the sky and clouds and storms for hours.  Lightning is more exciting than fireworks.

I'm still pondering what it could represent in this dream though.  The lightning flash was enormous and had well-defined jagged edges and was very bright, very powerful.  I'm kind of wondering if it represented something beckoning me into the room, tempting me inside despite the fact that I clearly knew I did not want to enter this room ever again.  Then I realized that I could witness the lightning just as well from another vantage point and still enjoy it.  This seems to tell me that the thing that beckons can also be enjoyed on another front, and is not only offered here.

(Yes, this dream is about my family situation at the moment, some difficulty my husband and I are going through.)
