How did you meet...

Your Spirit Guide?

Did you learn how to do this by reading up on the subject, listening to a meditative audio, or did it happen naturally?

Thanks!

Greetings Kate,

I like your posts.  They help me 'get my head on straight.'  I mean that when I've read your posts and the responses you get, I feel refreshed, like ' yes, this is good! '

I met my Spirit Guide one day when I thought I was praying Christian style. Then I started hearing a response, which surprised me because i never belonged to a church that taught about saints or divine intercessors. When I addressed the voice as Jesus, it corrected me and said 'We (I think it was plural) are your divine Guidance.' So it's been Guidance' ever since.

Love,
Bets

Here's a quick chronology:

-I wanted to know how to deal with awakened kundalini. I didn't want to get assistance from a guru because I had learned what they are so often about.
-I tried to make contact with my higher self.
-One night I had three back to back dreams. They were so perfectly crafted that when I woke up I knew they weren't just the murmerings of my subconscious mind. I knew they were created by an intelligence beyond my own. In each dream I discovered just the right number of inconsistencies to realize that I was dreaming. After the third dream I woke up in an expanded state of consciousness. The thought came to me loud and clear, "just as you found inconsistencies in your dreams, find inconsistencies in your waking state." I could feel and hear spirits from my disc/soul group saying "yeah, you've finally made contact with us.  I see spirits in the form of flashing stars. I saw a bunch of stars flash as this experience took place.
-Prior to the above experience I used to see and hear all kinds of interesting things while meditating.  I didn't know what they meant. After the above experience it occurred to me that somebody was trying to get my attention. Next, I started to receive messages in the form of moving, symbolic visual images. Sometimes they are accompanied by sound. They are accompanied by thought messages, so I'll have an easier time figuring out the symbology. A language of commonly understood symbols has been established between me and my guidance. Sometimes I'll experience short waking dreams that contain symbolic visual messages. Occasionally I'll hear a voice, but not for more than a sentence. I often receive thoughts, and what Robert Monroe and Bruce Moen refer to as Rotes of information.

I've never met a guide.  The messages I've received indicate that I communicate to my higher self. It probably goes beyond this in a disc/soul group kind of way. One time I asked about the energy behind my head, and I was shown the words "Albert's connection to God."

I've also had lots of energetic work done on me. In ways that I couldn't possibly duplicate by reading books.

The help I have received has helped me immensly.

Not everybody needs to receive guidance in the way I have. For some people it is enough to listen to their heart and intuition. They can also pay attention to their dreams. Pray and ask a question before you go to sleep, and you might get an answer.

I've found that fairly often my guidance won't answer one of my questions. This is because either I already know the answer, can figure it out myself, I'm not open to the answer, my guidance has already provided the answer and I've forgotten that they have, or it just isn't time.

I've found that my guidance won't make moral decisions for me.  They'll offer perspectives, but always leave it as an open issue.

I've found that my guidance tries to get me to trust my heart, and to not underestimate what I already know.

I've found that my guidance knows me better than I do. It points out things I'm not looking at, so I can get clear on them and grow.

I've found that my guidance has a way of being that is beyond my way of being. It has access to knowledge in a manner that doesn't have the limitations that human's tend to have.  For example, if I were in a stadium with 50,000 other people and somebody I knew was there, they'd know about it. Or if an answer to my question is on page [] of a book, they'll know about it and show me the page number.

I first made conscious contact with my guidance two years ago. But I found that they've been there all the time.

Cheesy  Thanks!!!!  I know I ask pretty simple questions, to you all anyway, so thanks for that!!

That is so cool - how you 'met' your Guide.  Thanks for sharing your story about it.

Wow Betson!  I’m intrigued that the voice your heard corrected you and said “We are your divine Guidance.”

Wow Recoverer! Thanks for your story.  I find it comforting that your guidance will show you perspectives but not tell you what moral decision you should make.

Thanks Kate for posting your question.

It does encourage me to live according to love/Christ consciousness.
