Hello, Steve here:
       I thought it would be a wise idea to let out my feelings rather than just exploding from the pressure so I will let them out.  Be assured, I will make this topic a possitive one and the negatives will not be dwelt upon.

       The subject is just what the name says:  Discussing Life Beyond as a serious idea with anybody.  I didn't use the word death since I wanted to imply that we have more to enjoy.

       Now, what troubles me is the idea being perpetuated in media and other places that Post-Physical existance does not exist.  Now, I realize that their beliefs are not forcing me into their view of reality at all but I feel a burden like that of a person dealing with a suicide in the family.  It has been hard on me lately.

       To counter balance that previous paragraph I would like to possitively proclaim that I think it is time to stand up and tell people the good news in what ever way one feels is right.  I may not be able to fit the idea into a box of logic very well, but my logic also tell me "Hey, you make backups of your computer hard drive, so why should your memories and explorations of Earth be any different?"

Yes Steve, like you I'm really tired of these endless repeated statements, mostly with the underlaying tone of "I am one of the modern, knowing intellectuals and scientists" about the "simple truth" that we're made of physical bodies and that was it. This is not scientific at all. We may speculate why this opinion is sort of forced in the media (at least in some countries).

To put it in a "box of logic", as you said, your example has a lack, because it is still an inner-material-world example- some will say "yes, see, you need a hard drive, but when it's broken the data are gone." So I like more to point out that experiences of every kind are simply not brain structures. You can't find experiences in the brain. You can stimulate the brain, and find experiences which go along with it, so there can be found correlations, but to take this and state that brain structures and their dynamics ARE experiences, to identificate it, is an invalid conclusion. And it's simply different categories which can't be identified anyway.

Hi Steve-
We have the Creationists, who say that God did it. We have the Materialists who say that Physics did it. And personally, my view is that materialism works because God makes it work. (Einstein, incidently, was interested in whether physics explained how God functioned.)

The problem seems to be perception of a problem. Or, in more archaic terms, imposition of the notion of Good and Evil, Right and Wrong and other ultimate categories. Becase reality is subjective, based on personal knowledge, and because there are no two people with the same historical background upon which to draw conclusions, we have about 3.5 billion opions, all of which are correct for the specific individual. That's a lot of ways to differ, but we still only have one way to agree.
