Chum,
This is tiring. Life on earth can be seen as beautiful, miraculous, OR we can take Shakespeare's and Hobbes' quotes:
"a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Shakespeare
Or Thomas Hobbes discussing life during war time, but taken by some to mean life in general:
"And the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short."
Life in the earth plane is not meant to be perfect. For those who have traveled to Focus 27, where literally anything can be created that is thought of, I think that is the "perfect" place you think a perfect God would create. So why would earth be filled with a mixed pictures? Could it be that there is something wonderful and noble about discovering love, thankfulness, gratitude, in a world where nothing is guarenteed? Could it be that overcoming obstacles, rising above our circumstances enhances our spiritual development?
If so, I see earth in all her beauty, as the perfect place to live, love, laugh, cry. And from your talk of cryonics and freeze drying your body and brain to live forever, you must feel its a pretty good world in some ways too.
M ***************** Of course, Doc - if I do decide to get made into a corpsicle, my end goal is to be almost unrecognizable as "Chumley" by the time I get done with the genetic upgrades and cyborging. And yes, the world IS good in many ways, and life IS good much of the time. It's the vile aspects (not all the challenges and hardships, they give color to life) - the putrid types of problem that you are HELPLESS to combat, and bring you dishonor besides... that I would like to part company with. (F'rinstance, how does being prone to cancer, or mental illness, or poor eyesight, make life more worthwhile? "Oh, but it's part of being human" you say? Guess what, so is leprosy - if you happen to live in India or some other nasty place. Any volunteers for being "human" here..?) Sorry Doc, but such phenomena/things have NO redeeming value, no matter what "profundities" you try to justify them with. -'Nuff said!
