Sounds like one to me! Mundane? Nope. Its been a while since I achieved OOB..too long, in fact.
I remember finding myself out of body..but I got up from the bed, hearing my daughter cough (so I thought) and going to check on her. She was working, and closed that night, coming in late. Only..she wasn't home yet.
I walked out of my bedroom..and tried to turn on the light in the hall..my husband was right behind me. I told him the light was broken..

I still didn't realize at that point what was going on. Since it was dark, I didn't "see" my lack of body.
I reached into the bathroom, to try that light, but it wouldn't work either. Walked into my office room across the hall..turned and realized I had not opened the door of my bedroom. That's when I realized I was not physically walkiing around. And immediately, I was back in body.
I opened my eyes..and heard my daughter cough..for real this time.
Another time, I went into the kitchen..but could still hear the TV in the bedroom, where I lay "sleeping".
As to maintaining..well, not getting too excited helps. But, that's easier said than done, I realize.
Good job, though!
